Can't you just agree to disagree?

As a rule if you can skip to something then its not Metal.
Unless its that part in And Then There Was Silence, but thats preceded and followed by 13 minutes of fucking amazing.

Actually Blind Guardian have a few skippy moments... but they're Blind Guardian and for that I'll let them off.

They are fucking great! All bands doesn't have to sound like they came straight out of the 70's...

What's the big deal? Bands with good recording, nice riffs, great vocalists and awesome drums are not good enough for your taste.
All decent bands in any genre have good recordings, nice riffs, great vocalists and awesome drums. You don't get far without them. But sometimes you want somthing else in your music, atmosphere, anger, evilness, depression, etc.
The things you mentioned are more of a foundation to any music and don't really describe any specfic style.

I feel that these bands do have a really nice atmosphere. But anger, evilness and depression just feels emo to me. Metal doesn't have to be all about sadness...
And you don't have to scream like your getting your organs teared apart from you...
I feel that a lot of your favorite black metal vocalists are terrible...
and when I ear you "ambient black metal" fans tell me that my bands sucks... I just feel like laughing, especially when I ear songs with 2 minutes long intros... with a shitty repetitive riff...
you call this ambience? I think that's called massive failure...

And PenisClown... I will never grow to like your under-under-under-undeeeeer-underground ambient suicidal black metal stuff.

I have grown to start liking Brutal Death and some really nice Black Metal bands since I joinned this crew. But there's just a limit to what can be done...

And I do not hate Black Metal... I'm actually starting to like Xasthur... but Burzum, Mayhem and all those bands with a lot of K, L, Y, Z and N in their name are just annoying the shit out of me.

I think Equilibrium, Finsterforst and Enslaved are the best Folk Metal bands.

lightweight? Metal doesn't have to sound depressive... even if the lyrics are not about an happy walk in the forest with friendly animals with big smiles, it doesn't h ave to be just dark.
And just listen to real viking folk music, and you'll realise that some of Equilibrium's stuff really sound like some. Even if some folk music is really dark and heavy... You just have to understand, that just like in metal, in folk music, there is a large variety of styles. And if you think kids would like this, just try making some listen to it... I doubt they will find it "lightweight"

oh and i dunno if anyone will appreciate this but heres a couple of dark folk songs like i was on about earlier. the cruel mother - ambient version of a real old ballad, arrangement by mick harris of napalm death of all people. just focus on the lyrics and the mood, creepy as fuck. song to comus - weirdest vocals ever, and these guys inspired opeth. thatll do.

I was just saying this because some people in here really seems to think that the older the stuff is or sounds, the better it is...
I really wasn't talking about the 70's.

I feel that these bands do have a really nice atmosphere. But anger, evilness and depression just feels emo to me. Metal doesn't have to be all about sadness...
Lol irony (seeing how you like emo Metal).

emo metal?
You should just listen to ATR or newest stuff by BFMV... and you would realise that suicidal black metal really sounds like razorblade compared to my emo metal as you said. And since when was it bad to make a song about love?

And Sadness = happiness. I'd rather get bummed out by Warning than listen to some happy radio friendly Indie band. And happy Metal just sounds false, like bottled happiness that isn't real.

Don't compare my stuff to radio music, I'm still talking about my favorite metal bands. Like Symphony X, Kalmah, Decapitated and a lot of other stuff. Without it being very sad music, it's not "happy radio friendly Indie band"
And how does it sound false? A lot of the stuff that I write is about things that help me keep on going in life when I feel depressed or just when I feel down. That's not happy metal, but it's surely not some underground school shooter's music.

And though comparing happy music to crappy bands kind of words for my argument I actually do mean it. Warning are brilliant, because they're depressing and thats what they do, and I like it. Radiohead are depressing, its what they do and I like it.

so you consider that because you like depressing music it is the best?

And you don't have to scream like your getting your organs teared apart from you...
Sometimes you do. I mean, James Blunt wouldn't get away with it.

I'll stick to the good scream vocals.

I feel that a lot of your favorite black metal vocalists are terrible...
My? I like, like a handful of Black Metal bands, arguments like that make you look stupid.

lol? Why? Show me a good black metal vocalist, and I might consider that my argument was shit. And I'm talking about real talent. Barfing you organs on a mic is not singing. Real vocalists have to work to get good at what they do.

and when I ear you "ambient black metal" fans tell me that my bands sucks... I just feel like laughing, especially when I ear songs with 2 minutes long intros... with a shitty repetitive riff...
HOLY FUCK! NOT A 2 MINUTE INTRO! JESUS THATS LIKE.... 100... GOD I CAN'T EVEN COUNT HOW MANY SECONDS THAT IS!
If you get out of the mindset of intros and verses then you'll realise that an "intro" is music... it just so happens to be at the start of a song. An instrumental could be one long intro if you think about it that way.

yes, but an intro as to bring something to the music itself. If you want to create an ambience with a dark an depressive intro, just do it. But one crappy guitar riff for 2 or 3 minutes... that's building up the atmosphere... and it then destroys it all, cause it gets boring. And I like realy long metal songs, but with progression, like Blotted Science, Symphony X or Spastic Ink can do.

Also, Black Metal, what?

And PenisClown... I will never grow to like your under-under-under-undeeeeer-underground ambient suicidal black metal stuff.
You're like a child with your adding of things like 'suicidal' into peoples taste.
Cause suicide is bad.
And you think BM is bad.
Hilarious.

No it's not bad, but if you have a fucking billion songs like this, than it's just getting fucking ridiculous. I think pop music is always the same shit... and that the problem is somehow the same with black metal... as some bands seems to have some kind of identical patern to their music.
And I don't think black metal is bad.

And I do not hate Black Metal... I'm actually starting to like Xasthur... but Burzum, Mayhem and all those bands with a lot of K, L, Y, Z and N in their name are just annoying the shit out of me.
I judge bands by the letters they use too.

lol... you fucking got the fact that I was just kiddin, right?

In fact I was talking more to PenisClown.
Cause he seems to believe that music works like a kind of natural evolution...
"At first you will like crappy music like Metallica and Megadeth, and than you will start liking some MDM like Nightrage, Arch Enemy, Children Of Bodom, Kalmah and Scar Symmetry. But someday you will realise that this is crap and you'll start listenning to better music like Brutal Death and Black Metal"

I don't think it's working that way...
Symphony X will forever be an awesome band. And Metallica is good PenisClown, they know how to write nice riffs and lyrics and add a good feeling to their music. I really do not understand why you should stop listenning to some music just because you find something else.

And Black Metal is not at the top of the ladder, it's not better or worst than any other Metal genre or sub-genre.

Listenning right now : Domination by Symphony X
thats why I took it as an example :P

Yes. Because thats my opinion. Music is subjective. I like depressing music, therefore I think it is the best. Like Dentatus said we don't have to put 'in my opinion' before everything we say because the fact WE'RE saying it automatically makes that the case.

lol? Why? Show me a good black metal vocalist, and I might consider that my argument was shit.

Your argument is shit because you're using Black Metal as an example of how someones taste is shit (hypocrisy much?) when that person (me) doesn't like Black Metal.
And again, what makes a good vocalist is subjective. Look a Bjork for example.
