Happy first day of the year, strangers.
I had a good night. I've had a good week or so actually, alcohol/weed fueled fun. I've somehow come across a big liking for the rock band Foo Fighters. I dunno. It's weird. I fucking like them.
Anyway. You guys listen to fuckloads of music man. It's insane.

Outside of Metal at the moment I listen to all most anything from Katy Perry and Lady Gaga to Hardstyle.
Though I listen to quite a bit of Dark Ambient and Filmscore type stuff too on a more serious note.
This signature makes use of various clichés and/or 'emotional' lyrics/quotes, hopefully it makes me appear deep.

Don't get me wrong I don't listen to it regularly, it's not on my playlist let's say. It's just fun to get wasted too.
Metal gets boring at parties after a while, which is pretty much the only place I listen to it.

Kate Perry REALLY sucks though, she's hot but I hate that sound of hers.
Happy New Year, you bastards! Keep the hell as alive as last year!
Also - Neun Welten is some excellent German Neo-Folk.
There's been nothing new for me outside of metal, but I listen to rock (mostly from 60s - 80s) and video game music. I know that isn't a lot, but I've focused on metal too much over the last few years.

Happy New Year indeed. Don't worry, I'll be one of those who'll keep the hell alive this year. :) Also, for metal in 2009, all I can really think of right now is Wintersun's new album, but that's assuming they get it done this year!!

I would say her sound is similar to many other modern day artists. All terrible and commercialized.
Happy new year.

Agreed. But I'd fuck her. A lot.

Same I guess. She seems rather socially disillusioned though, I saw an interview of her.

It does look cool.
I need to check them out too.
And I don't mind what I've heard of Katy Perry. She is a commercial pop musician. If you're expecting anymore then you'll be disappointed. But you've got to take that music for what it is. And its catchy and easy to listen to. Thats the point. I wouldn't get an album of hers and listen to it because I don't like her enough for that. But if its on I can happily listen. And at least her voice is a bit different.
And she's hot.
And 14,000, whooo.

That's pretty sweet. I only have their newest album.
Is that design based on album art?

Really? Age of Winters is their best effort IMO. You should get it.
Unless I stumble upon something randomly I don't typically go actively looking for a band's material unless it sounds unique or interesting. "Old school death metal" or "black/thrash" and terms of the type are usually a turn off for me and it's more of a subconscious thing than anything else. In my mind stuff like that seems instantly boring but surely if someone liked it the band is likely to have their own redeeming qualities I don't know it's just one of those irrationalities.
It's for that reason that for every genre I enjoy I only have a few bands I'll listen too and typically the stuff that I fall in love with is a blend of genre's and isn't really done by much of anyone else. I've only recently broken free of this and I'm starting to listen to more stuff now.
On the topic of music outside of metal I have a few bands that I hold in high regard. I think Dead Cities, Red Seas, and Lost Ghosts by M83 would probably have to be in my top 10 favorite albums of all time. If anyone knows of any other albums like it please let me know. I also really enjoy Lunatic Harness by µ-Ziq but I'm not even really quite sure what kind of music it is so I'll refrain from explaining it to save myself from looking ignorant. Really great album though. Also had But, What Ends When the Symbols Shatter? by Death in June playing constantly a while back. Haven't been able to listen to this stuff in a while.

going through a serious black flag binge in my listening recently. the live 84 album should be required listening for any metal fan who reckons hardcore is for pussies. the slow my war/slip it in songs there are as genuinely heavy as it gets in any genre. greggs jazzy instrumental music is pretty cool too, i got gone's second album for christmas and downloaded mojack's newest one free from the website.
Butthole Surfers (Pretty much the best band ever.)
hellz yes, been totally obsessed with this band too recently. i used to think they were overrated, cuz i had locust abortion technitian which everyone raves about and i just saw most of it as filler. then recently i got their even earlier albums which are imo just more creative, coherent and funny as fuck in their own twisted way.
I also plan on getting some Clutch.
thats something i should do at some point

Agreed. Anyways, I think the artwork is based on the song "Maiden, Mother & Crone," because the three figures are a young maiden, a middle aged woman and an old hag. If you look closely, the maiden is holding seeds, the woman is holding sprouts and the old woman has the barley. It's a cool shirt, I just wish the band name was a bit bigger and more centered.
Why are we discussing Kate Perry in the Hell ?
I mean... there sooooo many other pop artists that are much more worth it than this lame ass bitch...
and how is she hotter than any other girl? I mean... why do you guys find her soooo much attractive?
To be attractive to me, a girl as to be both beautiful (seen through my eyes, don't forget) and have a nice personnality. But em... I guess that's because I'm with the perfect girl for me right now.
She's so brilliant, yet so attractive to me, and she's so open minded. I can discuss metal bands with her, and she's always asking for me to send her some songs from my personnal playlist. She became a fan of the Viking Folk Metal, Equilibrium, and she seems to like some Melodic Death Metal and Power Metal stuff two :)
As I am a core fan, I made her listen to some stuff by ATR, BFMV, Atreyu and some other stuff.
And also, talking about other genres of music we like.
Here are mine.
Definitely have to start with Classical music !!!
then comes Rock (and sub-genres like Prog Rock, Soft Rock, Hard Rock), Core (Metalcore, Deathcore), Jazz and Blues for sure, my parents are big fans of blues, so I ear a lot of that kind of music all the time at home. Btw, Michael Bublé is freakin awesome.
I like some Funk music also, like Primus and RHCP.
I like some hip-hop and rap also... but not a lot, just a few artists like the Swollen Members and of course, Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch!
Also some punk music.
Of course, techno and all the trance and rave stuff !!!
and some funky techno, like Infected Mushroom.
I don't think that I forgot anything...
so that's pretty much it :)

actually i think the maiden might have water, i'm not sure.

Hey now, Black Flag are pretty much just a really good punk band. I'd never call them hardcore.

Fuck yeah.

Locust Abortion Technician is fucking great.

My dad's got their debut EP Butthole Surfers in it's original form. That's gotta be worth a couple g's.
thats something i should do at some point
I think Idio should link us to their best shit on Youtube or something.
ALSO
New demo of acoustic folk songs. Please listen and give thoughts.
I really need an MA page. I tried to put it up myself but it didn't work.

it might seem strange to call them hardcore in this day and age, but along with minor threat and bad brains they were one of thee definitive harcore bands. just nowadays the term 'hardcore' has been gangraped by record company executives as another selling buzz word for the musically uneducated masses to buy all that scuzz/kerrang etc promoted shite. the modern bands are still the descendents of the old early 80s hardcore scene but a majority of them (not all) are so far removed from the original spirit of it. same as how terms like garage and r&b were nicked from respected and only vaguely related established genres.

quality album. i prefer the live versions from PCPPEP of those songs better tho

as a demo this is really excellent, a lot of atmosphere to it, nice guitar work and the production is very fitting for the style. the one problem is that you risk coming off as a kveldssanger-ulver rip-off, with the simple guitar arrangements, melodies and those 'uhhhhh' vocals (lol you know what i mean.) ideally it would be great to hear some other instruments rather than just the accoustic guitar, strings and keyboards being most appropriate, yknow to give it more texture and depth. some words would be good too, even if not sung then spoken or whispered.
RZZZZZZ
I was looking for some Folk Metal and I ended listenning to a Russian band named Kramola.
It's so fucking underground that I didn't find anything on youtube by them and I don't even know if they have a website or anything
I have found some informations about them, it's a side project of the band Nevid.
I was actually hoping for someone in the Hell ot tell me what kind of metal this is.
Cause I do feel the Folk side of their songs, but I do feel that it's not just some "regular" folk metal, if I can express myself this way.

You're right, but atleast put a fucking punk on the end of it.

Thanks man.

Well I'd be lying if I didn't say the only influence I have in making this kind of music is Kveldssanger, and that album accomplishes it so well in the first place. I find Kveldsannger's style a bit different to mine though, I'm mainly just inspired and influenced by it. Kveldssanger is a bit more stripped down and basic aswell.

That's a good idea man, thanks.
So, Happy New Year asshats. Hope you all had a good one. You assholes have gone to fast, 4 pages is to much for me to read.
Those of you who haven't go listen to Ministry. Their new shit is actually GOOD, unlike some bands, and Al decided to quit whilst he was ahead, which is a damn shame, but still good at the same time.
Anywho, i got The Last Sucker for a decent price and ill be off to get a couple other albums i had my eyes on for a good while now, then ill delete all the "acquired" songs off my computer.
