I wont quote D3NTATUS and PenisClown, but I do get the points you guys are bringing up.
In fact, what you said was right, you do not need to be a god to be a good musician. And I can also understand the fact that if your a good song writer, most of the time you should be able to put something really nice together.
Though I still consider that you can't be a beast at all instruments, and that the drums, especially in heavier stuff like black metal and death metal, is really important and takes a lot of time to master, especially for the speed and precision. A descent vocalist, can make the song good, a descent drummer can stay on the right tempo, a descent bassist, can do good rythms, but the fact is, that with only descent musicians, it's pretty rare that you can write a Masterpiece.
Also, I am not saying that technique his everything, in fact, I started my journey into metal music, by listenning to Power Metal mostly.
The most important thing is not the technique itself, but the capacity of the guy to write good riffs, good drum lines, good bass lines, nice melodies and stuff.
So you can be a very good artist, without being a beast at your instument. But a black metal drummer, needs to be able to do at least some blast beats, right?
Other than this, PenisClown, I do not believe that Burzum is pure shit, it's not my kind of metal though. I may have been rude, but that's mainly because I was talking to you... and I thought that you would only
throw a shitload of insults at me for not being a fan.
I don't think that the riffs were terrible, but I really do not like the vocals. I like agressive vocals, but these were just screams, and I find it kind of annoying.
Also, that's just a question, but Varg was a bass player at first right?
Cause when he was playing with Mayhem, that's what he was doing.
But em, since I do not really like that kind of black metal, is there any other good one man bands out there?
I know Burzum and Wintersun (except for the drums of course)
but that's pretty much it.
