Good bands keep it up. Sabbath made a killer album every year until Ozzy got drug fucked. Death kept getting better and better. Megadeth had a great run in the beginning. Heaps of bands keep delivering. But not the majority. Most bands are hit and miss.

I don't like it either. Although I've not listened to any of their albums beside their debut, I heard Diamond Head went downhill after releasing Lightning to the Nations. If their later albums do suck, then I find it a shame since they could have made several great albums. I can't really name other great examples of this, but I'm sure there's several other bands that suffered the same fate.

I agree about Queensryche, but in the Progressive Metal genre, Dream Theater reign supreme in my view. They're uber-brainiacs musically, they have some awesome riffing, they have some beautiful ballads AND they've been to Romania, so they've got all the pluses. Well, Queensryche have been here too, but they screwed up the show, so... No points for them.
