Not really. Their sound is more Nu-Metal territory when they get heavier.

Also, we now have a Total of 3 songs.
The only one we've recorded, and the one most of you have heard, Is probably the one that's the simplest and least brutal, also slowest, We made a brand new song at rehearsal today, It is BRUTAL AS FUCK.
Songs just keep getting better and better.
We plan on playing live soon, we can already because everyone liked Beneath so much, but we want to write more songs first.
Also, I need some technical death band reccommendations, as you know I already know a shitload, but I want moar.

The only Tech Death bands I listen to are Psycroptic, Necrophagist, Sleep Terror, Gorod, Cynic and Arsis, you've probably heard them all. If not, listen to them.

That's true, there's a few out there who put out good stuff consistently but I just don't quite get how it works out that way. How is it that some of these guys turn everything they touch to gold whereas some are only capable of one or two albums worth of brilliant stuff? Beyond just being "good" what makes a consistent musician?

Having a creative mind helps. If you can constantly churn out ideas then its a plus.
Or if you can rip others off and not have anyone stop you... alá Trivium.
Or if you're Mike Patton and you have a fanbase that'd listen to you take a shit and still call it genius.

It's arabic for "He who causes despair"
It's also the Name of the Devil in Islam.
I designed the Logo, The singer re-drew it into Digital form though, with one of those Tablet things.

Considering they came before most of the nu-metal bands caught on, I would say it's there own sound rather then them ripping off bands that they inspired, sadly.

I never said ripped off. I just said sounded like.
And I never intended to disrespect them. I'm not overly fond of them, but they're a band that have my respect.
I love Tool.

This signature makes use of various clichés and/or 'emotional' lyrics/quotes, hopefully it makes me appear deep.

Tool, prog metal? They sound more like alternative rock to me, am I alone on this?

Writing music. Is hard. Sometimes that time in your life inspires you to write good shit, but later on you lack the passion or the inspiration.
Beyond just being "good" what makes a consistent musician?
Creativity, intelligence. That's about it.

Plaintive Scenes.
I'll get the one that Auroele(sp?) on next because I've always liked that song.
Also I was recommend Unearthly Trance by the other guitarist in my band and I got 'Electrocution'.
Not listened yet, got so much new stuff to get through.

Lateralus and 10,000 days are their best albums... They don´t have more than 4 though.

lol Trivium. I have to admit, I do wonder if they ripped anything off on their latest album Shogun.

well theres the ep opiate and salvial as well as the main albums. in my opinion aenema is slightly better than 10000 days, but could be so much better if it wasnt for it being bogged down by so much pointless filler.
and yeh the nearest description of their style is progressive mixed with alternative, definitely wouldnt say metal or nu-metal. but hey these are just terms, and tool are the type of band that defy categorisation. probably why this debate/argument started in the first place.
RZZZZZZ

The only album I haven't heard in its entirety is their first album. The other three are all excellent. I'd strongly recommend all of them to any prog rock fan. Tool is simply amazing.

I've only listened to one song, but it had the exact same vocal lin as ...And Justice For All.
I took you guys' advice on the vinyl. Got one of the 400 clear orange copies of Ashes Against the Grain in the mail today. :) Can't wait to hear it. Especially for the bonus track.

I'd go for Lateralus first because it is definitely their most progressive offering to date. The shortest songs on the album are just interludes and intros and aren't real songs, and through that logic the shortest song is somewhere along six and a half minutes. However, all of the real songs and well constructed and don't feel like they're seven or even eleven minutes long.
I would also recommend Undertowfor because it's their heaviest offering and also their angriest (take note, not angsty. These are angry men, not angsty teenagers like KoRn and the like).
Here I am, bored with everything.
