The average of the old and new.

I dunno. You sound like a budding metalhead. You need to quit listening to that mainstream crap and listen to some real extreme shit. But, as far as I'm concerned, your in. I hate posers, but I have no problem with skaters. I don't like ppl who are skaters just to be skaters, but I have no problem with those who just do it for fun.

btw, great list.

I consider the new to be less overrated than the old, but both are very overrated.
Holy shit! I just sang "Run To The Hills" by Iron Maiden without my voice hurting! Hot damn! Miracles do happen! Next I'll try "Hallowed Be Thy Name"

Ditto. I just gotta work 9 and a half more hours at my job (and I have to wait for the Virgos to get in stock) and I have myself a virgo.
Damn you guys! I still go to school, I'm looking for a part time job or a nice summer job but it's so difficult to get one.....I want the ESP AX-350, the silver edition, here's a pic. It costs 688 Euros here.

My current guitar is a BC Rich Warlock, I'm rather satisfied with it, but the pickups are rather shitty. I can't wait for that ESP thing, though ;)
BTW, I'm almost done with a BM song of mine, called "Cult of the Damned" :)
yeh do you guys like 3 inches of blood or cradle of filth?
see where im from what i listen to is so far off mainstream, coming from Australia no1 has ever heard of soilwork, children of bodom or almost half the other bands i like, this is a really anti metal country. they all listen to like punk and top 40 bullshit
dude i wish i could play guitar but im too unco...
oh yer so what should i get? like what decent black death or thrash would you recommend for an idiot who cant play guitar and is too "mainstream"

Hmm, sounds a lot like where I live, but some of the kids do listen to older metallica, as well as Nu-Metal though, so that counts for a little.
you cant be too uncool to play an instrument, if you really want to, try, as long as you have, or gain talent, you can play.
I'm facing a similar problem here, I may play the guitar, but I cant find any other real metalheads where I live, ones that play instruments anyway.

Start with somthing easier, and work your way up.
THe first metal song I learned was "The Hellion" by Judas Priest, but that is Heavy Metal, not Thrash, Black, or Death Metal.

You probably have a bronze warlock. I'm getting a Platinum Pro Virgo, so the pickups will be better. Chances are I'll still record with my homemade guitars, but the virgo will be my guitar I play with my band, Cruelty's Darkblood (that name might change) and will get more abuse than my homemade ones (I tend to abuse my equipment) but I can get a greater range of tones with my homemade ones, which suits my varying style.

Sadly, yes. I have a Bronze Warlock. Still, for that cheap price it's pretty nice. And despite the common opinion, I get great clean sounds out of it. The muddy pickups are only suitable for badly produced Black Metal, though =P
I think that the Virgo is quite a beautiful guitar, I'm sure going to try it out at the store in summer, if they got it.
Oh, and Weapon_of_Vanity, easy songs I can recommend for starters:
Sepultura - Orgasmatron(Motörhead-Cover)
Burzum - War
Pro Pain - Foul Taste of Freedom(I still love to play that one, it's neat)
Cannibal Corpse - A Skull Full of Maggots(damn easy, just a little fast, play it slower)
Songs I would recommend for beginning guitarists? For one, practically any darkthrone song. Or how about Pa Slagmark Langt Mod Nordt by Gorgoroth? Or maybe Unhallowed by dissection (minus the solo).
Nice to see you're still into the metal. :)
I've got into a lot more mellow and indie stuff now, like Bloc Party, Kaiser Chiefs, +/- and Pixies, which is the main reason I stopped coming here. It's nice to see that this place is still going strong though! :D
I'm mostly hanging out in Wi/Ht? now, and on other forums.

Aah, it's you red arm! Haven't seen you in ages. How are you doing?
Yeah, it's just that I listen to a lot more different metal genres recently.
Well, you still listen to Metallica, what else is left from your metal "roots" =P ?

Why do you hate them?
Yeah, I'm going to get an ESP. I can't wait to try that thing out(Ax-350)

Do you hate the way they look? or do you just not like their sound? or both?
Hell, I'm getting more and more into the rawer black metal lately, I was always a fan of the more symphonic or rather melodic stuff(no, not Dimmu Borgir) like Limbonic Art, Rotting Christ or later Immortal. But I'm really start to enjoy Gorgoroth right now. Their song "Possessed by Satan" is stuck in my head and I can't get it out :)
BTW, I'm currently working on my demo's CD case :) It's a lot of fun, here's the cover:

Yeah i like black metal a lot but for a long time i did not like the raw stuff at all but i think it grows on people.
This question is out of context, but what guitar is good for starters and what should I tune it to?

I have the same question, because I want to buy a guitar, but I don't wich one I should take.

A Fenders Squire Stratocaster might be a good idea, that was the first guitar I got, and it is a guitar for beginners.

I had a strat copy too, but it was so bad that I didn't enjoy playing it. Even the first guitar should be well chosen.
Depends on what you want, if you want to start with the heavy shit already, then better take a look at the lower priced ESP(Ex-50) or Jacksons.
