There's no way they could 'fine or punish' everyone who has illegally downloaded copyrighted material.
Plus the infringement on rights. Will surly make the US people go berserk.

I'd like to add that you're right, it'd be damn hard to punish everyone that has DLed material, however it specifies "at the border" and not in private homes. However, what really pisses me off is the ISP restrictions - fuck that. As a proponent of net neutrality, no body has any right to tell me what to do with the internet I pay for. If I choose to use it "incorrectly" I have to suffer the consequences. But no one has a right to restrict me pre-emptively. This isn't Minority Report, they can't assume guilt, so they have no right to restrict privacy. The whole thing is a bunch of BS and will likely only result in some border restrictions for the gamut of pirated asian DVDs. At least I hope, otherwise fuck that nonsense - there will always be ways. I'd also like to note the stupidity of the "get developing nations to adopt the legislature" part. If you're a developing nation, should you be worried about a good resource infrastructure as well as economy and various other things, as simple as making sure there's enough food or water, rather than be bothered with who the fuck does what on the internet they probably don't have? Its all dumb. My guess is that it doesn't pass. Its a bunch of nonsense.
Clamp down on murder, rape, violence, drugs and real crimes. Then bother with piracy.
And its not like I'd buy something just because I can't get it for free. The reason I take an interest in a lot of bands is because the only thing it costs me is my time... and I have way too much of that :).

Exactly. They need to focus on REAL problems.
But the ones you pointed out won't get them money once solved.
However less pirating = more things being sold to put tax on.

They need to ahead like that :P.

Well actually civil Rights are all going to hell, in the UK,and US.
I'm lucky to live in Iceland, because the only problem we have is that Gas is getting ridiculously expensive, approx. 200 $ to fill one normal tank.
Also houses are insanely expensive.
but seriously Shit is about to hit the fan in the UK and US.
The problem with my country, Finland, is that the taxes are too damn high.
As far as economics go, my country's fine.
You know, there's this little power struggle going on, our First Minister is a hack, everyone's a terrorist, Americanisation is rife, there's no music scene, our useless bitch of a Queen hates us, if you don't smoke you're a pussy, if you don't do drugs and you're over 12 you're even more of a pussy, if you're not Atheist you're the ultimate pussy, our education system is becoming broken and about 63% of the population are emos.
But, you know, economically we're fine.
I live in the U.S. My country's problems go without saying.
shame :(

It's alright, especially here in California, but it sucks that everyone hates us. Granted, we're not really doing anything to prevent that. With any luck, Obama will be elected and then we'll probably do something to fix our reputation.

I think most people hate the USA because the USA is undeniably the superior country and a lot of people feel insecure. I used to hate the USA too when i was like 10, but it stopped at some point. There´s a lot of propaganda spread about the USA too. Every country has it´s problems, i don´t see why people should hate the USA more than any other country.

well we did sort of fuck over the middle east. and we're pretty stupid over yonder in the Midwest and such.
but it is true that everyone gets unwarranted hate for shit.

I don't think emos count as a demographic.
And whats wrong with emos! The girls look sexy in that 'we're sluts lol but we're not' way.
Though I'd never want to touch one.

I love seeing them get smacked in the face in pits when they're trying to seem hardkore.
Its sadistic of me... but I like it :).
the problem with Canada is that there never has been any mayhem, emperor, carpathian forest, gorgoroth or any great black metal band shows there, and probably never will... There are some really good local black metal bands but they only play in bars and i can't enter yet.

I'd have to agree. I can't stand the constant hot weather in California, but the Midwest is terrible. Most of the complete idiots Europeans like to make fun of live in the Midwest, the most religious place I've ever been to in the United States. It's actually revolting, even for a believer.
Looking at the situation in the Middle East, there are no real ways out, but with a different president we could at least do some rumor control.
Here I am, bored with everything.

"omg they should just bomb the whole Middle East America is the greatest country in the world."
As far as I've seen, that's the attitude of a pretty high percentage of people in my country.

Dude, do you want to do a song cover with me? Its of Zapp $ rogers more bounce to the ounce. We can do it under funk force trauma (lol remember that?)

have you seen that video of people (i think it was national geographic or discovery) testing random passers-by on their geographical skills? They sucked. What's worse, these people who didn't know where Iraq was (lawl) were saying "Yeah, let's just bomb right here *points to India* and make a giant glass bowl out of Iraq."
then there was a dude who thought that Australia and New Zealand were North and South Korea, respectively, adding the comment "It's funny how much bigger North Korea is, durrrr"

Somewhat irrelevant, but the heat depends on where you live. If you're in the valley, it's horrible (especially Fresno, asshole of the state). However, the Central Coast (where i live) is wonderful. Except right now... yesterday was 112.

Yeah, the Midwest gives the rest of the country a bad reputation. the states on either end of the country aren't nearly as bad as Texas, Alabama, and all those other fuckheads.
On a related tangent, there's like a population of rednecks in my town. Like, seriously. They all take agricultural classes, wear boots, and tailgate on their pick-ups at lunch. It's disgusting. Cowboy up!

Yeah, word.
Leaving to go see Children of Bodom now.
The venue are apparently Nazi's when it comes to everything; ID, cameras, dress code (no studs).
So don't expect photos :(.

My heart shattered...
What do you guys think of Iced Earth's new EP. Personally, I think it's ok but it's not the Iced Earth I grew up loving. I still respect them but their new stuff isn't my cup of tea. I remember getting a copy of "Night Of The Stormrider" for my birhtday back in 1999 or 2000 and not being able to put the record down for a minute. Long gone are the good ol days for me of that band.
My introduction to Thrash metal:)
That video where they test the Geographical skills of random people is exactly the kind of propaganda bullshit that´s being spread about America. They edited it so that only the stupidest answers would be on the video. I think they´ve done a similiar video with the British and the Canadians.

I quite like it, its nice to see the return of barlow and i look forward to the future of the band (as long as they can put out more kickass stuff like the early days)
what i find most hilarious about it is literally 2 days before the news post on the iced earth web page about barlow returning an interview with Jon and Tim was published in Terrorizer (the only UK metal mag worth getting) saying about how Matt was gone for good and fans will just have to get used to it and learn to love tims vocals :P
also in other news i enjoy the new scar symmetry alot and i got an insect warfare album which is amazing as well, i have also decided that i will reset my last.fm stats when i reach 30k as my music taste has shifted so much since i started it 2 years ago :)
