I love Tech Death and I love Blotted Science.
I brought it up cause Ryan (it was Ryan, right?) asked for non-technical music.

Tuberculosis is metal, Jari Mäenpää has tuberculosis. In a related story, all Finnish people look the same (being a ridiculously homogenized country and all).

I think this question was posed already a long time ago but I have to ask, what is you guys' favorite metal cover of a non-metal song?

Heres mine Angra - Wuthering Heights.

Týr's cover of The Wild Rover is fantastic. I heard the original folksong on the radio and sang along to it and my dad looked at my funny.

And though Primus aren't completely metal (though they have the guitarist from Possessed, Larry LaLonde and Les Claypool tried out for Metallica), their cover of Pink Floyd's "Have A Cigar" is fantastic and deserves notice.

Seeing as its the only one I can recall: Emerald by Mastodon.
Or maybe the Led Zeppelin medley on A Change of Seasons.

Just to reinforce what i was saying about St Anger being an easy album to play, i just played the intro of Some Kind Of Monster on my phone. Using the keypad. And im working on the intro for Dirty Window now.

I don't know too many covers of non-metal songs, but I do like the cover of Uriah Heep's Lady in Black that Ensiferum did.

Maybe it doesn't qualify as Metal, but KoRn-Jingle Bells.

Oh. My. God.

What the hell were they thinking when they named this?

The track list sounds more cheese-tastic than Power Quest, Europe, Rhapsody and Dio combined.

Yeah it's probably going to be the worst album this year.

Seriously, Beatdown?

I can't really think of that many metal covers of non-metal songs. Týr's folk song covers and Exodus' cover of Low Rider by War come to mind....I'll go with Týr. I love that album by Exodus, but that cover wasn't very good. Plus, Týr is one of my favorite bands. And I don't care for Fear Factory anymore, so no love for Cars. Vanden Plas did a cover of a song by Kansas, but I don't remember it.

pink floyd covers seem to fit in pretty well with metal somehow- voivod's version of astronomy domine, melvins interstellar overdrive and noothgrush's version of sysyphus come to mind. theres probably more ive missed

I don't think they were thinking. It shows how poor Roadrunner are as a label to sanction this. And how poor Totman is at writing.
It sounds like some overly macho Rock band singing about beating up nerds in their school.

Pathetic.

And I'd like to change my favourite Metal cover to Trans-Siberian Orchestra's 'Carol of the Bells'.

Can somebody explain to me the lyrics from the third part of Octavarium? I used to joke around with a friend of mine about the lyrics because we both thought we misheard them. We'd be like "Jaaack the Ripper....OWEN WIIIILSON". But I just found out that we were pretty close to the actual lyrics (apparently, it's "Owen's Wilson"). And the rest of the lyrics I read confuse me even more.

copy/paste from the Metal Archives

"sailing on the seven seize the day tripper diem's ready
jack the ripper owens wilson phillips and my supper's ready
lucy in the sky with diamond daves not here I come to save the
day for nightmare cinema show me the way to get back home
again"

So...uh.....WTF?

Perhaps "Dave's not here" is a Cheech and Chong reference?

The lyrics reference whats before and after. Like Ripper Owens will be something, and Owens Wilson is obviously the actor.
Likewise, Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds is the Beatles song and Diamond Dave is a singer I believe...
Stuff like that. They're all lyrics, people, or whatever and its like a weird puzzle.

Its a very complex song is Octavarium, way too many references and such in it.

Perhaps "Dave's not here" is a Cheech and Chong reference?

I hear nu-metal influence in it. And like Kidd said, out of everyone in the hell, you are probably the least qualified to decide whether something is nu or not. You thought that Kittie was "melodic metal."

Also that was shit and i hated it.
