Good band but to repetitious at times.
I love technical they can be, but it'd be a lot better if the lead guitarist didn't stick to the same "shugging" every other song. But, then again, that's probably how Meshuggah supposed to be.
I don't know, all i can say is that I was a bit disappointed when I first came around to hear them.

They're really confusing and awesome though, time signature switches, pauses, and whatnot, but they can get a bit repetitive. One of the better thrash bands though.

Just listened to ObZen today.

Not too much to say, really. Checked out a Cynic promo, thought it was just OK - songs were a bit laid back and I missed the robot vocals, sadly enough. Still, I hold out for a great new album later this year. Also been listening to Keep of Kalessin's new one - Kolossus. Not as much black metal in this, more cultural influences and death metal influences, but mine ears doth not protest. Still good stuff, and you'll definitely enjoy it if you like the band otherwise.

Anyway, I'll be around.

D3ntatus put it best. However. there is confirmation of an album on Cynic's myspace for whatever that's worth. Probably not a tremendous amout, but I'd like it to get out this year, if at all possible. We'll see.

I would just like to comment on something someone said before about gay haircuts and bands.

Hetfields hair now looks pretty damn gay (although it suits him) but we still listen to Metallica, right?

/edn point

Who else is excited for the new album?

James' hair looks gay? Try Lars.

Did anyone hear the new mission Metallica vid? They're recording bass for Death is Not the End. (Although it's a lot slower than the live version) And Kirk is playing the main riff with enough wah to knock out a horse. It's worse than the Prince Charming solo.

Anyone who has heard that song will know what I'm talking about.

But I don't think anyone with ears would put that much wah on a record.

Listen to it! It's great!

I thought the new promo CD was pretty good, but it's got nothing on Focus. I still look forward to this new album.

Also, I hope that new Virus album comes out soon. The wait is killing me.

All great bands! :D I actually haven't got Killing Machine yet, but should do soon.

The store was SecondSpin, com it's all used CDs/DVDs/Video Games and it's approved by Time Magazine. I got all five for under $50 Dollars.

Cool, but I prefer new condition CDs.

Aging about 25 years usually does that to a person.

Metallica actually looked cool back in the day..

Where were you when it happened?
Where could you be found?
Were you at the front of the stage or in the underground?
...And so on.

And if your definition of 'cool' is dead bassists and unwashed faces, then you got problems.

Are they really? They really grew on me once I realized I have a love for technical, progressive, and guitar heavy music in general. The whole band is simply put shocking, they're one of the most talented death metal, heck, metal acts out there today. I'm pretty sure they'll be remembered as a significant death metal band in the future, when I'm old and stuff.

I only hate Sammet's voice when he tries too hard to sound like a Dickinson/Kiske clone.

I really don't see it like that. I really see Sammet and Dickinson as two really different singers.

Funny, two years after getting into Metallica, I've still not listened to Load or ReLoad, and some will say that it's better for me to avoid those albums at all costs. Then again, to me it feels like those albums never existed.

Listen to Hellfire Club and you'll notice the similarities between them.
