Has anyone here heard Stone? It´s an awesome thrash metal band from Finland, and one of their guitarists is in Children of Bodom.

I think you're confusing Finland with Poland.
Behemoth, Decapitated, Vader and others.

For some reason everyone is starting to like Decapitated in my town, My Fellow metalhead and Friend Valdimar showed some guys and chicks Spheres of Madness, and I've had people ask me to send it over MSN a few times.

Anyway, Every country has their share of Metal bands, You'll notice lots being from Finland if you like that type of Metal, and lots being from Norway if you like Black Metal.

I first heard Lordi when i was 7 or 8 and the song Would you love a monsterman was on the radio. Then they just disappeared, and came back later with the song hard rock hallelujah. Then their popularity faded off again, but then they made that shitty horror movie and beast loose in paradise.
They´re really just a pop band, that i wouldn´t classify as metal.

Yeah, I don't really appreciate the quality as well. I'm more interested in those that use normal sound quality. Anything like that I'd check out right away.

i like this kind of music but i hate Sammet's voice

I only hate Sammet's voice when he tries too hard to sound like a Dickinson/Kiske clone.

Nope, never really heard of him also. Just thought this up, that's all. It's more of a spur of the moment thing.

----------

I like black metal but it's often a bit repetitive, Amon Amarth song structures, who I also like despite being a bit repetitive. It's such a massive genre tho; Dimmu sound nothing like Silencer and neither sound anything like 'true black metal' like 1349. But it's pretty much all awesome.

And it might have been better in the past but black metal isn't all symphonic nowadays, there are still bands coming out with old fashioned raw black metal.

And I know the metalcore debate has been pervasive throughout this thread; without prolonging it and with acknowledging that I don't even post here often, there's already a metalcore thread and I don't wanna read people talking about Avenged Sevenfold; maybe it is 'metal', since it's so widely defined, but it's certainly not Metal from Hell; it's Metal from High School Gym Class if anywhere.

Has anybody checked out Deicide's new album Till Death Do Us Part? I've heard mixed reactions about it, I hope it isn't disappointing. I heard the guitarists that were on The Stench of Redemption aren't there.

Pop in and of itself is just short for "popular". Pop music means a type of music played on the radio and is, duh, popular.

Britney Spears isn't just pop, she's actually an electronic based music. Metallica could be branded pop but it has its roots in metal.

I know what it is, the conventions for the music and such.

yes, yes, I know this. What I was saying was the Metallica wasn't as pop as the Lordi. It is much more likely to find people able to enjoy the Lordi song, and see it on the radio because it is just has way more pop sensibilities.

Lordi make me a little be less proud to be human.

So do Dethkhok for that matter.

Meshuggah on the other hand... sweet bass heavy polyrhythms :).
Saying that I only seem to listen to New Millenium.. on repeat :(.
But your humble Nev has a 4 hour+ car journey tomorrow - to see his sister, and get a present (finally).

So I've whacked Solefald, Meshuggah and Muuuuse on my Zen :).
Ooh, listening to obZen on my Zen... thats definately getting done :).

Alright, is cool.

I take back my statement that the metallica isn't pop, it's got hella pop sensibilities. Both the lordi and it are poppy.

This is more my idea of "not pop." More Lightning Bolt, just for kicks.

Good band but to repetitious at times.
I love technical they can be, but it'd be a lot better if the lead guitarist didn't stick to the same "shugging" every other song. But, then again, that's probably how Meshuggah supposed to be.
I don't know, all i can say is that I was a bit disappointed when I first came around to hear them.
