I like black metal but it's often a bit repetitive, Amon Amarth song structures, who I also like despite being a bit repetitive. It's such a massive genre tho; Dimmu sound nothing like Silencer and neither sound anything like 'true black metal' like 1349. But it's pretty much all awesome.
And it might have been better in the past but black metal isn't all symphonic nowadays, there are still bands coming out with old fashioned raw black metal.
And I know the metalcore debate has been pervasive throughout this thread; without prolonging it and with acknowledging that I don't even post here often, there's already a metalcore thread and I don't wanna read people talking about Avenged Sevenfold; maybe it is 'metal', since it's so widely defined, but it's certainly not Metal from Hell; it's Metal from High School Gym Class if anywhere.
