Not heard the EP, but really, if it's just the EP that's metal, they still shouldn't count on Metal-Archives, unless they're only there to be made fun of by the reviewers.

I lost a bet last week because I was absolutely certain. CERTAIN! That a song I heard in a club was by Fall Out Boy. I even saw Patrick Stump singing this song (or at least thought I did).
Turns out it was Head Automatica.

Now I have a good ear for detecting bands sounds and vocalists styles. So I was shocked.
So add them to the list :).

What do you guys think about the black metal scene? I don't listen to black metal a lot because nowadays it's mostly full of posers and it never really appealed to me, but some bands have technology that makes their recordings sound really crappy quality wise just to sound hardcore. That's terrible.

And just like 95% of the people in here you have not been able to bring any good point to the debate.
Insults and shitty comparisons have been the core of all you said to me.

The fact that I consider metalcore to be metal is that you got to understand that everykind of music as to evolve. Just like a lot of Black Sabbath fans have been saying that bands like CoB, Dark Tranquillity or Arch Enemy are not metal, you guys are complainning about metalcore because it's a new kind of metal and you just can't accept it because it doesn't sound like typical death or black metal. Also, you have to admit that power metal, basicaly was influenced by heavy metal.
The main argument you guys are using is "Metalcore is influenced by metal, but isn't metal."
But you just can't support that argument... cause basicaly, a band before becoming metal has to be influenced by it... so every metal band have been influenced by something else...
And don't tell me metalcore is influenced ALL by hardcore, it's just a fucking lie right there.
Don't tell me All That Remains is hardcore, its deathcore...

But as you told me... you don't want to argue on it anymore, so thats the last time I'll be talking about metalcore here if you don't want to fight on it anymore If you still want to discuss it respectfuly, I'm always up for a good little discussion right here.
I hope I didn't insult you in that post, I may have been rude, but I didn't meant to insult anyone.
But if you really just think that you can't change your mind on it... than it's pointless that we keep talking about it.

So... I'll just start a new thing.

My opinions: This metalcore debate is fucking gay. Cut it out, nobody really gives a shit either way. If metalcore was to be discussed in here THERE WOULD NOT BE A METALCORE THREAD BECAUSE THERE WOULDN'T BE A NEED FOR ONE. Thusly, either side is entitled to its own opinion, I don't care either way. But the back and forth is goddamn annoying, just PM it.

Second, about black metal - plenty of good black metal has come out this decade, especially this late into it. The classics came out in the 90s, but its a bit naive to think some excellent albums haven't come out recently. They just aren't as traditional - I'd certainly agree the best straight black metal was probably the 90s, with the exception of maybe Keep of Kalessin (but I do really like those guys). Its had a chance to evolve since then, thusly it has diversified - if that's what you're into. I like the music, but I don't always dig the scene - kvlt is over-rated. Who gives a shit if it was made by a 15 year old in Norway in his haunted forest using an old abused mic with a 4-track recorder? If its good, its good - take Emperor or Immortal or Darkthrone or old Satyricon etc etc etc - great bands that are relatively popular are still great IMO. Some of that stuff is silly.

Also, welcome to the new members - Sensey keeps beating me to the approvals.

Sensey - I got your message, sorry I was AFK - wasn't ignoring you.

you guys are complainning about metalcore because it's a new kind of metal and you just can't accept it because it doesn't sound like typical death or black metal. Generations are a problem here, everybody always have to despise the next generation because they just can't understand it.

There are loads of New Generation Genre's of Metal Avant-Garde Metal and Folk Metal are about as old as Metalcore, yet they are more metal then Metalcore will ever be.

Also, you have to admit that power metal, basicaly was influenced by heavy metal.
The main argument you guys are using is "Metalcore is influenced by metal, but isn't metal."

Don't tell me All That Remains is hardcore, its deathcore...

It's nothing like Deathcore. At all. This, is Deathcore.

But as you told me... you don't want to argue on it anymore, so thats the last time I'll be talking about metalcore here if you don't want to fight on it anymore If you still want to discuss it respectfuly, I'm always up for a good little discussion right here.

Thanks you. I think i speak for everyone here that we are grateful you have taken this course of action.

I hope I didn't insult you in that post, I may have been rude, but I didn't meant to insult anyone.
But if you really just think that you can't change your mind on it... than it's pointless that we keep talking about it.

Likewise.

well think of it as a step on the pop punk/rock/whatever path that FOB then continued further down, when i first saw a FOB video i thought the lead singer was the guy from blink

i like this kind of music but i hate Sammet's voice, i used to be a fan of edguy but i went off them over time as his voice grated on me more and more til i eventually deleted their disco' that i had. i may check out Avantasia properly at some point but if its "Tobias Sammet's Avantasia" then i can see myself getting pissed off with it
