I just want to say, I don't have much tolerance for Metalcore and there are a few hardcore punk bands that I like. The shitty bits of metalcore I don't relate much to hardcore punk like the Exploited. They don't have gay breakdowns and 'chugga chugga' Mudvayne riffs. Metalcore is nu-metal influenced a lot too; I reckon they get their angst from there rather than harcore punk.

Although of course there is 'hardcore' like Throwdown who are totally Metalcore and don't sound anything like the Exploited to me. There are even bands like Send More Paramedics who are like a metal hardcore and they're awesome too and don't sound like Trivium.

I think Metalcore is a funny genre; I like metal, I like hardcore punk, but I don't like Mudvayne, and Metalcore is too Mudvayne.

PS Machine Head are thrash metal for metalcore fans

despite that loads of my friends love them

they're all metalcore fans too

Let's call off the metalcore debate, it's not really going anywhere, nor will it ever. We're all about as stubborn in our opinions as Flat Earth Theorists.

At 5/28/08 01:25 AM, HeavenDuff wrote: yes... and thats the problem of the metal hell in general... the lack of respect in here is awesome

Apologizing for being rude = lack of respect? I was trying to be respectful, i was in a piss-poor mood and about to explode on people. Which I did for most of the day.

The thing is... that in your opinion he beated me, but thats just because you share opinions with him.

The thing is, I stated that "beat" was a poor choice of words and not what I meant to convey. And it's not because I share opinions, it was because he answered all your questions. I remember.

The fact that I want to include metalcore in metal, is that there is something like 100 subgenders of metal music, and if Power Metal, Black Metal, Death Metal and Folk Metal can be considered all metal, than metalcore, in my mind should be a part of it. I know you guys don't like the fact that there is some emocore stuff in metalcore, but if any of you would listen to the new album of Bullet For My Valentine, you would realise that there is way too much Melodic Death Metal and Thrash Metal influences for it to be left out of metal bands list... but anyway, I don't want to have another fight with 90% of the crew...

I'm not gonna respond to this bit because we've all been over it many a time.

so if you... Mister D3NTATUS, have anything else to say about it, then feel free to do so. But I seriously don't want to ear angry underground metalhead's complainnings.

That was unnecessarily rude, coming from someone who just stated that lack of respect in the hell is a major problem.

On the subject of metal, has anyone heard of Skyforger? They're pretty good folk metal. Not the best, but good. I discovered them way back in November when someone was talking about Skyclad and I accidentally checked out Skyforger instead.

They have an entire album of Latvian folk music (latvia is their homeland) and it's fantastic.

Can we consider Images And Words by Dream Theater to be a Metal album? Cause it's really just a progressive album.
That is just one album though, like origin by borknagar which is all acoustic, however it doesnt change the fact that they are metal.

I know they are metal, I was just wondering if this specific album was considered metal.

and on the metalcore debate, everytime i hear a metalcore song all i think of is this, i havent heard a single metalcore band that i havent thought as trying too hard to be br000ta1

Metalcore isn't metal for the very reason that the hardcore influences are more noticeable than the Metal influences, Groovy riffs, Breakdowns, that annoying Scream vocal, and the whole "Hardcore dancing" in the crowds.

Listen to this.

that is not metalcore... thats screamo, even the name of the video tells you its emo...

absolutely not like this either.

No, Okay, that just proves that they don't get their influence from Death metal.
Thrash metal?
No.

Megadeth is one of my favorite band. Don't try giving me lessons on thrash metal.

Power/Black/Doom/Goth/Melodeath/Folk?
Metalcore is not metal, It's just Hardcore by some faggots that have listened to too much Nu pantera, Metallica, At the Gates(which already had some hardcore in it), And pathetically failed at trying to put the aspects of those bands into their music.

I'll give you my examples of the metalcore bands I like:
first one
second one
third one (in the original version there is more scream, but they have two versions)

So maybe next time I'll talk about metalcore, consider the fact that I am talking about this kind of metalcore, and not the gay one with fag haircuts.

The production on the album isn't as heavy and distorted as other stuff by them. Its quite light and crisp if you will. But then again, this was early Prog Metal.
But the style is definately Metal. Its all classic DT forumla.

Speaking of which... I don't think I've ever told this story.

There was this freshman named Gwen (her name was actually michelle lmfao) who was in band for two trimesters this year. Probably the most obnoxious person I've ever met, her voice was like the primal danger screech of an ape and she played bass horribly. We made fun of her constantly and de-tuned her bass when she wasn't look. If anyone so much as touched her bass she'd flip about seven bitches and scream at us, even though it wasn't "her" bass.

This is relevant to metal because she likes Belphegor. she also likes slipknot, him and just about any other shitty band you can think of so that negates any metalness she may have. She's one of those HARDCORE REBELLION PUNK ROCK ANIME XD KAWAII RANDOM ^____^ girls. You know the type.
