This applies to bands. Although its components are of something multiple, and its importance is in the multiples of whatever it is, the band itself isnt viewed as a multiple element.
The band is a whole thing, such as a herd is a whole thing, therefore, it is regarded as a singular thing, therefor,' is'.

A band name is a SINGULAR thing. You cant be right. The herd of sheep is fantastic. The band Megadeth is great. You refer to the "herd" the "band" , whether or not it is in the sentence, it is the implied- "megadeath is great".

I disagree. In my opinion bands should be refered to as a group, not as a single thing.

Dream Theater are my favourite band.
