This would be most suitable for a complete overview of their discography.

Horrorscope - nifty thrash
W.F.O. - thrash with slight groove elements and an extremely heavy bass-sound.
Killbox 13 - thrash/groove/heavy metal exellently executed.

They're exellent albums, but I think The Years Of Decay is the best album. It was the first Overkill album I ever heard, so my opinion might be biased.

depends on how good the album is really, the first Sonata Arctica album i got was Winter Hearts Guild and i still consider that one to be my favourite over all the others

Awake was the first Dream Theater album I got, and it reamins my favourite because it is better in all musical aspects, not because I heard it before the other albums.

The first Sonata Arctica album I got was Ecliptica, but it's not my favourite album of theirs. My favourite Sonata Arcitca album right now is Reckoning Night. I still need to get Silence and Winterheart's Guild, however.

St. Anger is neither a metal, nor a "music" album. If I'd record my vacuum-cleaner and croon some mindless gibberish on top of it, it would be similar, the only difference being that I won't be able to sell millions of it.

Does anyone actually like Doom Metal? I'm not that deep into it yet, mostly stuff like some katatonia, you know. It's from the old Metal Music Forever collection.
I can't get hold of much now, I really wish MMF wasn't taken down.

Also Beyond-Agresion and Manipulation-Six feet under are some good death metal songs to check out.

yeh i quite enjoy doom metal, although Idio is the man when it comes to doom, my recommendations would be Esoteric, Moss (drone doom), Sunn O))) (drone doom), Yearning, My Dying Bride, Candlemass.

if you are in mostly with bands like Katatonia i think the best ones to start with would be the last 3
