At 12/23/11 12:20 AM, Gobblemeister wrote: Why would anyone other than the Colts draft Andrew Luck?

Both the Vikings and the Rams already invested in 1st round QBs so the Colts are the only one of the bottom three in desperate need of one.

Unless you guys are talking about trading the pick away to someone else who wants Luck.

From what i'm hearing the price for that #1 pick is the highest it's ever been being worth around 4 first round picks or 3 1st rounds & 2 2nd rounds still either way you can easily rebuild a team very quickly with that one pick if you were the Rams or Vikings plus the Rams already have their quarterback so maybe at least they would be able to get some recievers for him and some O-line and also factor in no Matt Barkley in this draft that pick is all the more valuable so teams like Washington,Miami and others might even go for that trade and sell the farm.

Also just to throw out there i'm 6/6 in Bowl picks so far, great start ^_^

What are you talking about... all but one game is being played today.

Don't forget the Monday game! After today, we get Chicago and Green Bay duking it out tomorrow while the Saints and Falcons play the last Monday NIght Game of the year...

Glad tebow got his ass kicked and what would be funnier is if Orton gets revenge by knocking the broncos out of the playoffs next week.

Next week, the Baltimore Ravens will visit Paul Brown Stadium to take on the Bengals in the last game of the regular season. For the Ravens, a win means clinching the AFC North and getting a first round bye in the playoffs. For the Bengals, a win means simply being allowed to go to the playoffs. The steaks are huge for the last game of the season. I really need to see if I can snag a ticket to see this game in person. I'm sure the tickets will be moderately priced since the Bengals keep not selling out....heh.

He does everything right off the field and when there's finally a guy that is a good role model... everyone hates him.

Because he's a media darling. And in the current age of always in your face media, you get so much Tebow shoved down your throat it's impossible not to hate him.

Plus, he's really just a poor man's Cam Newton in the end isn't he? The real football related story here, in my opinion, is the impact Michael Vick has had on the way the QB position is played, and the undeniable success rushing QB's are having in the NFL, they're almost like this years wild cat, no one was quite prepared to stop it, and it ran wild. Be interesting to see how it plays out long term.

Packers game is a lot closer than I thought it would be. I guess Chicago had more life in them than I expected. Still thinking that their playoff hopes die tonight, though.

28-10, Green Bay.

That's exactly the problem, in this day of 24/7 TMZ style media where entertainment has topped the actual meaning of the story and multi-million dollar athletes act like they're in the Playboy Mansion every day, the media {Skip Bayless, I'm talking to you.} and especially the evangenical Christians put Tebow on high regard for walking the straight and narrow, compared to a lot of other pro athletes, and that's where the backlash comes from. Maybe some time down the future, we'll might see his polar opposite player a la Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier.

On the field, he may have a winning record as a starting QB, but he takes way too much credit for those wins, especially with a less than 50% completion rating and through most of the games, he makes JaMarcus Russell look like Joe Montana the way he throws the ball. Yet, the media is so obsessed over him because of his off-field activities and attempt to transfer that to the football field, while leaving other young QBs like Andy Dalton on the back burner despite having far better throwing mechanics and talent around him.

Even though I don't share Tebow's faith in any strecth of the imagination, that doesn't mean he isn't a good guy, and a good football player overall, but he is a sub-par quarterback in the NFL, and all the stats and the eye test proves it.

Just stop worrying, and love the bomb.

Shit, well, that ended like I expected. Green Bay won by two touchdowns. Chicago is more or less fucked with their playoff hopes. What a game. Can't wait to see how the last Monday Night Game of the season plays out. I think the Saints are gonna give us a good game as they take on the Falcons.

Prediction: New Orleans will win tonight's game and Drew Brees will break Dan Marino's single-season yardage record. Anyone disagree?

It's sad that this news story is getting passed over, by the way. Tebow is great, but we should really be paying more attention at how close Brees is to setting NFL history...

*cues Howard Cosell voice*

Drew Brees, quarterback of the New Orleans Saints has set the National Football League's all time passing yards record for a season, surpassing Dan Marino's old record of 5,084 yards.

*end voice*

Anyway, it wasn't really much of a surprise that Brees would eventually get this record, considering he did throw for 5,000 yards before, has an explosive passing game, and recent rule changes that benefit the offense, particularly with passing. With all that, I still give my congrats to Brees for breaking the record.

Although Tom Brady is certainly not far behind Brees at all when it comes to the passing yard mark as well, and considering how much the Patriots offense is predicated on passing the ball so much, it's possible, albeit unlikely that Brees' record could be short-lived.

Looks like I was right. Wheee.

Also: How hilarious would it be if the Rams played the best game of their season on Sunday and took away San Francisco's #2 seed spot and first round bye? I saw a bunch of Saints fans with signs that were asking for that to happen during the game. Lol.

Week 17 Schedule:
Sunday
Carolina at New Orleans - Saints (With 'something' on the line i'm sure they'll give enough effort to win)
Chicago at Minnesota - Vikings (Chicago is in a sorry state without Cutler, Gerhart and Webb get a chance to shine)
NY Jets at Miami - Dolphins (Feel like the Dolphins are more explosive right now, Jets have slowed to a crawl)
Buffalo at New England - Bills (I don't even care, this is purely wishful thinking, worked once this season!)
San Francisco at St. Louis - (Same as Saints, home field advantage on the line, give a good effort)
Detroit at Green Bay - Lions (I have a feeling Stafford and Johnson put on a show as Detroit seeks to show they can compete in the division)
Washington at Philadelphia - Eagles (Redskins are bad)
Indianapolis at Jacksonville - Jaguars (Gabbert is getting increasingly passable and MJD is all but unstoppable, Colts still need to suck for Luck too)
Tennessee at Houston - Texans (A decent team against a much better team coming off two embarrassing losses)
Seattle at Arizona - Seahawks (Seattle is firing on all cylinders, good offense and tenacious defense, these guys will be competing for playoff contention next year at this rate)
Kansas City at Denver - Denver (Broncos aren't just Tebow's Team, they've found their identity of sorts and with the division on the line i'd say they have a good shot)
Tampa Bay at Atlanta - Falcons (Atlanta is at home)
Baltimore at Cincinnati - Ravens (Bengals are good, but not THAT good, probably the most likely upset depending on whether or not Baltimore wants to show up and if Cincy clicks)
Pittsburgh at Cleveland - Steelers (Division on the line, Steelers won't let this one slip)
San Diego at Oakland - Chargers (After an embarrassing rout in Detroit they'll bounce back)
Dallas at NY Giants - Giants (I refuse to acknowledge the Cowboys as a competent competitor in this division, they don't have the solidity of New York, neither will go far in the playoffs anyway)

Week 17, let's make the last week a good one

2nd place in Fantasy makes me sad, I could use a little New Years boost ;(

When voting for Pro Bowl, are full backs chosen randomly by the voters? I mean how many people even bother to watch them play?

All the more reason why the Pro Bowl is a damn joke, considering most fans are too attracted to the big star name of Rivers despite having a shitty season, and snubbed out Andy Dalton who has a far better season as a rookie QB than Rivers now.

I have a feeling that Cincinnati will get the last laugh considering they already have a better record and most likely get into the playoffs, whereas San Diego will be watching us on TV.

Eh... who cares really. He's third string and honestly... at least it wasn't Tim Tebow.

Tebow's a first alternate so he will go in if one of the QBs in the Pro Bowl makes it to the Super Bowl.

San Francisco at St. Louis -

Niners, I just can't see them stumbling against a St. Louis team that wants that first pick.

Detroit at Green Bay -

I'm going with the Lions, Green Bay is most likely going to rest their starters.

Washington at Philadelphia -

Eagles will win at home against the hapless foreskins.

Indianapolis at Jacksonville -

Jags somehow stumble their way into winning this game.

Tennessee at Houston -

Texans, and I can't wait for the rematch in the playoffs

Seattle at Arizona -

Got to go with the Seahawks going Beast Mode over Arizona

Kansas City at Denver -

Tebow has crashed down to earth, so I'm going with the Orton and the Chiefs to jam them at home.

Tampa Bay at Atlanta -

Falcons, simply because they're at home.

Baltimore at Cincinnati -

Looks like I have tipped my hand earlier, so I'm going with the Bengals to get that playoff spot.

Pittsburgh at Cleveland -

Steelers, and this one won't end well.

San Diego at Oakland -

Da Raidahz will short circut the Bolts who can't get out of their own way.

Dallas at NY Giants -

I said earlier in the season that Eli Manning is the best QB in the NFC East, that's why I'm going with the Giants at home.

Bengals get into the playoffs on Sunday if at least one of the following scenarios happens on Sunday:

1. Cincinnati beats Baltimore
2. The New York Jets lose Miami and The Oakland Raiders lose to San Diego
3. The New York Jets lose to Miami and The Denver Broncos lose to Kansas City

Pretty wild. Bengals are still in the hunt, but they're holding on my fingertips to that #6 seed spot...

I'm getting too worked up about this, aren't I?
