At least we're in the playoffs, which means you were wrong with your cocky prediction a few weeks ago. Problem, Browns fan? You guys are the only AFC North team that aren't playing football after today. How does that feel?
It feels like a better draft pick than every AFC North team... I was wrong. I figured that there was no way the Jets would drop the ball like they did. I figured Tebow would come up clutch. I figured Jokeland would pull off a victory.
The Browns are piss-poor at drafting talent, about the only good draft picks they have made in the last 5 years or so was Joe Haden and Joe Thomas. Other than that, it's been pretty bad. I will admire you for spinning the situation of the Browns to a positive note, but that's like being the 4th friend that didn't get a date while the other 3 did.
Poor excuse. People are going out to fine dining restaurants, ordering take out, and a shit ton of other things that cost more than cooking at home, you can't tell me people can't afford to do shit.
You would be plenty surprised on how much single game tickets would cost to an NFL game, much less the food, drink and parking prices are at in an NFL stadium. Plus, with a lot of people and bars having HDTV's and whatnot, people think that it's much more worth it to watch it on TV {assuming they have Sunday Ticket.} than go to a game with angry, drunken fans breathing down their neck.
But I love this. Every time I bring up points I disregard my team, they speak for themselves... what can I say? Pat Shurmur is a joke of an Offensive Coordinator and a coach. We saw it this year with awful time out management, awful playcalling, and an overall look of "fuck guys... I'm lost."
How long did that take you to figure that out? It's not like they haven't been doing this for years now under Mangini and Crennel.
Not a single Bengal fan can tell me that at the start of the year, they thought they were going to the playoffs. I think even the most overconfident, pretentious, "know-it-all" in the entire football crew... Mr. Orangebomb even predicted a 5-11 year for the joke of a team you guys have.
One thing you have correct is that I did say that the Bengals would go 5-11 in the beginning of the season. But once they started to reel off wins during the middle, they could potentially win the AFC North division, of course getting swept by both the Steelers and Ravens and having a couple of bad losses during the season ended any possibility of that.
As for the rest of what you said, I must respectfully disagree, considering I never said that this Bengals team would make a SB, much less a playoff appearence, and the rest of the stuff you've just mention is your opinion alone, and I'll keep it at that.
I remember the last time the Browns made the playoffs... we were all disappointed because we needed help... we couldn't do it on our own. But being the typical fans you guys are, you are overjoyed with not getting the job done, but still slipping through.
I'm not exactly jumping for joy that Cincy needed help to get the wild card spot, but at least we got in where everyone, {including myself} said that they wouldn't. But I guess that doesn't matter to you in the end.
All in all, it's okay... this playoff spot means that you guys are further back in the draft order. You aren't winning the Super Bowl and now you guys should be nervous about next year because now, the NFL has a year's worth of film on the Rusty Rifle.
And you make it sound like it's a bad thing. We have actually drafted very well over the last 5 years or so from wherever we were selected to pick, unlike some other teams that I won't mention. As for us being nervous that the NFL has film on Dalton, well all I can say is that teams have over 10 years of tape on Tom Brady, and only Benard Pollard and the '07 Giants has been able to stop him effectively, not comparing Dalton to Brady by any stretch of the imagination, but you get my point.
But of course, anything less than the Super Bowl is okay with you guys because "at least we were there."
Every team in the NFL, no matter how shitty they are, aspire to win the Super Bowl, but the reality is that there are really only 6 or 7 teams compete for the title {according to the experts that is}, and the rest play out of draft picks, that doesn't mean that there can't be a surprise team that can win it all. {'07 Giants and last year's Packers as an example.} Naturally, I would be disappointed if the Bengals don't win it all, but at the same time, we have made huge progress into achieveing that goal.
At the start fo the year, no Bengal fan expected a winning record. NONE. Yet, you guys act like it's normal and you were always this good.
We had talented players and a good defense, {when healthy} you have to admit that much, but when Palmer had his bitchfit and the WR experiment from last year didn't work out as planned, we took a step back. We had really no choice but to get rid of Ocho and Palmer for draft picks and cut T.O. from the roster, and rebuild from there. It just so happens that Dalton, Green and our defense stepped up their game and got us to the playoffs, where no one said we could.
Either way, Bengals fans... as usual are jokes, simply because they are satisfied with the notion of "almost."
And Browns fans are satisfied with their past which is used as a crutch in any argument against Cincinnati. In short, Browns talk about the past, {Jim Brown, Kosar}, Ravens and Steelers think of the present, and the Bengals think for the future. But then again, whatever makes you sleep at night I guess.
