What about Houston? They are undefeated and have a better chance of going to a BCS bowl now that Boise lost.

Well we were dumb enough to think it was gonna happen.

What easy wins are you speaking of?

Ohio State and Michigan State

I guess easy might not be the right word but we had those wins in the bag and there is absolutely no reason we should have lost, and yet somehow it managed to happen.

With the way the Top 5 has since tumbled Wisconsin might have been in the discussion. It still would have taken Oklahoma St. to lose for it to happen but we still could've been in the mix.

Don't worry Wisconsin will maybe go to a BCS bowl if they go to the Big 10 title game.

I know they are still going to play a bowl game but it sucks to see them fall short no matter what they do because of what could've been.

This may sound silly to some of you but I have always found the SEC to be severely overrated and was always sick of seeing them in the top 20 despite the fact that half of them lose 2+ games a season. I was hoping the Big Ten would kind of ride the success of Wisconsin to kind of overthrow the SEC. Still, I think i've learned this season that sometimes it's just really hard to play in your own conference and that just because the opponent isn't as high ranked doesn't make them less tough. Watching Northwestern beat Nebraska or Purdue beat Ohio State makes you realize that even the Big Ten isn't immune to the same stuff I used to accuse the SEC of doing, losing to unranked division opponents and still being ranked high.

Still don't like the SEC at all though, still think they are trumped up to be more than they are and would love to see a good Big Ten team stomp them.

Guess what? Just because you think they deserve it, doesn't mean it ain't gonna happen, and I know first hand. In '06, Michigan deserved to be in the National Title game against your Buckeyes again, and that didn't happen, and we all know what happened from there. TBH, you sound like a Boise St. apologist now, unaware that there are way better teams that deserve a shot too.

I hope you know that before our field goal unit fucked up, Braxton led a drive and had another clutch play for a Touchdown where we should have made a PAT and won the game.

You still lost because you couldn't move the ball effectively until the 4th quarter. And even then, you still had a chance to win the game in OT, and you let them off the hook. You got to play for all 4 quarters of a game, you can't just show up whenever you want and expect to win.

Basically you and your smug confident attitude better hope you don't put the game in Braxton's hands because so far he's done good.

You sure about that? Braxton has virtually no talented WRs out there, and add to that he isn't exactly accurate either. Just because he pulled a fast one on an overrated Wisconsin team at home, doesn't automatically make him a clutch player, got to prove it more times than that, especially against ranked teams.

Just wait until Braxton has to deal with Michigan's defense in the Big House, he'll pretty much be running scared when Mike Martin and Ryan Van Bergan are going after him. But hey, there's nothing like a challenge, eh?

Hell no! Houston has not played against any decent team yet still gives up a lot of points. Their offense will struggle against any team that plays defense.
As a matter of fact, all the arguments about if Houston belongs to the BCS will stop when they lose at Tulsa in their regular season finale and fail to make it to the C-USA title game.

They have not beaten a single ranked opponent this year and it's funny they have entered the BCS bowl conversation. I don't see them winning against either SMU or Tulsa in their next two games and then win against Southern Miss in the C-USA Championship, but if they manage to do that and everything shakes out with LSU and OK State in the National Championship, Houston would go to the Fiesta Bowl to face Oklahoma. Hey, another easy Fiesta Bowl win for OU I can live with that.

But of course what I will hope will happen is that OU will beat OSU which will ruin their national championship dreams. Now the voters will have a choice, LSU v. Oregon, LSU v. Alabama, or LSU v. OU. Do you really think the voters will offer a rematch to either one of them after OU just knock off the #2 team in the land? I doubt it. And then Houston will go to the Sugar Bowl to face Alabama assuming they can jump three hurdles.

Personally, they don't deserve to be in a BCS bowl game period. But let's say that they do go undefeated and somehow they get in, {most likely the Fiesta or Sugar Bowl} I really can't see them posing much threat to Oklahoma or Alabama. Yes, Houston has lit up the scoreboard and all, but that's due to the fact that their opponents play no defense whatsoever, and let them do whatever they want. Alabama's defense would curb stomp any offensive attack they may have, and Oklahoma will run circles around Houston's questionable defense.

Moving on, the Bengals had a tough defeat against the hated Steelers. Even though we did get 5 sacks on Big Ben and largely stopped their running game, we still let him throw the ball all over the place, and we couldn't keep pace. Losing Leon Hall and A.J. Green certainly didn't help matters any, either.

As bad as that is, Buffalo is proving to the world that they are frauds yet again, this time getting their brains beat in by Dallas, and now they're circling the drain. Fitzpatrick is falling back to earth, and Steve Johnson does his usual disappearing act around this time, which means they will be watching the playoffs from home yet again. {I pick these guys to win, and then they fall apart early and often, typical Bills fashion.}

Just stop worrying, and love the bomb.

Yeah, I'd say that's a fair assessment. I think a team like the Steelers could still fuck them in the playoffs, though.

Remember Ball State a few years ago? They were pretty good at beating crappy teams too.
Guess what happened? They got their ass whipped in the conference title game against a solid Northern Illinois team that actually played defense.

Here's something fun that Mike showed me the other day: The popular Zombie Nation song that you can hear during NFL games at kickoff is ripped off from an old Commodore 64 game. There was even a settlement paid over it.

Pretty much. The Bills are being exposed as frauds, and the Jets realized that you need to score points to win games, and Mark Sanchez is not the answer at QB. And considering how both teams are sinking fast, it's safe to say that both wild cards spots in the AFC will be filled in by AFC North teams.{considering that the 3 best records in the AFC are in the AFC North right now.}

Matt Schaub is now out for the season, and Leinart is now the QB, which might sound disasterous on paper, but considering how weak the AFC South is without Manning and the Colts, they can easily finish 9-7 and still win the division, and probably lose in the Wild Card round.

There's a chance on that happening, considering 9 times out of 10, it's the quarterbacks that win games in the playoffs. {and I did pick New England and Green Bay to be in the Super Bowl.} The biggest hitch with that is that both pass defenses are statisically horrible, and if another QB gets hot like Rodgers did last year, then who knows what'll happen. All the more reason why {good} quarterbacks win championships.

I know one thing, the Steelers aren't going to repeat as AFC champions, partly due to the fact that they can't seem to run the ball, {or play offense for that matter} on a consistant basis, and their defense can't really stop high powered passing attacks like the Packers.

Before Matt Schaub got hurt I would have put the Texans in contention seeing as they have an incredible combination of run and pass on offense and a better defense than Green Bay and New England.

Unfortunately it's looking like it's probably going to end up as another year for Green Bay to dominate the postseason unless someone emerges from the middle of the road into contender territory. If the Palmer experiment continues to improve then maybe we'll see Oakland challenging but I don't see that happening.

Right now i'd say the only teams in the league that stand a reasonable chance beat Green Bay in the playoffs are Chicago and New Orleans. That being said the Thanksgiving game against Detroit should be pretty telling also, though I doubt Detroit is going to pull off anything convincing against Green Bay. Chicago is a sort of dark horse but they are easily the scariest defensive challenge Green Bay has to face and they might be facing it in the playoffs if things continue to go well for Chicago.

As for the AFC I wouldn't even go so far as to say the Patriots are even that good of a team, especially compared to years past, nonetheless nobody else seems to be able to hold onto any semblance of consistency aside from Pittsburgh maybe. Cincy has held onto a good record but they can't hang with the best of them and even if they do make the playoffs they will likely find themselves outmatched by teams that are simply better at "making things happen."

All in all it looks like an NFC team will win the Lombardi again this year and it's looking like that team will be Green Bay. Things can happen but that's the most likely outlook I see going forward from here.

Today is the day of my school's final home football game of the season. They're going to be playing Western Michigan (5-5) at eight tonight. You can catch it on ESPN 2 if you give even the tiniest of a shit about it. I honestly have no idea how this game is going to shake out, but I'm hoping for the best. If you can spot me in the crowd, tell me and I'll probably send you money or something.

So, after this is the final game against our school's rival and MAYBE the MAC Championship, but I'm not counting on it really. I'm gonna be kind of bummed out when my school's football season ends and I really don't see us going to a bowl after the season we've had.
