Newton will be a bust --- he won't get the whole day to throw a pass like he would during his days at Auburn.

So, here's something that I've been asking friends who are big into the NFL:

Currently, there are only four NFL teams that have never been to the Super Bowl. They are the Detroit Lions, Jacksonville Jaguars, Cleveland Browns, and Houston Texans. Which one of these teams do you think will reach the Super Bowl first?

My money is on either Detroit or Jacksonville

Detroit's been on a rise and the Superbowl might be in sight within the next few years. If they can make it to the playoffs withing two more years they might have a bright future. Jacksonville on the other hand has been a fairly solid organization for a while and it looks like it might finally be paying off. While the rest of its division slips Jacksonville is improving and the playoffs might be in sight. Jacksonville has a strong history in the playoffs too so who knows.

I'd say Detroit or Jacksonville. Those were the two biggest draft winners this year coincidentally too. Detroit set themselves up with the best D-line in the NFL for the next ten years by stealing Fairley, and by sneaking up and grabbing Gabbert before the Vikings, the Jags have a beast QB who they can give the Aaron Rodgers treatment and just let him learn the game for a while before he's called on to win games.

Response to American Football Discussion 2011-05-07 01:22:41

Ha, if Detroit reaches the Super Bowl, that will mean that every team in the NFC has made it to the Super Bowl at least once. Does that mean that it is a better conference than the AFC?

Discussion is welcomed.

NFC won more Super Bowls than AFC so yes.

Also I'm biased.

Here's hoping for a bounce back decade for the NFC East. Seriously just one SB win last decade? Granted that lone win happens to be the biggest one and was done by my favorite team but still, the division gotta do better than that.

Still hope the Cowchips and Eagles fail though...especially the Cowchips.

LOL. Cowboys went from being one of the winningest teams in all of sports to being a second rate football team. That sucks. I wonder if they'll ever come to close to their former glory...

Tressel resigns from Ohio State. I guess it goes to show how the cover up is more damaging than the actual crime. Story

It is a sad day for Buckeye fans, I can tell you that. I honestly don't know how long it will be before the stigma of this mess goes away...we all look like complete assholes now.

My money's going to be on Detroit, assuming Matt Stafford can stay healthy and upright. Detroit is going to have a dominating D-line and a powerful offense to boot, which is a plus in the NFC North when you have to deal with Rodgers, Cutler and whoever the Vikings will put at QB. Jacksonville and Houston may have an outside shot, but they aren't going to go anywhere as long as #18 is QB in Indy, they not going anywhere anytime soon. As for Cleveland, all I can say is wait till hell freezes over or the Cubs win the World Series.

Plus, Jim Tressel resigned from Ohio State, and I was jumping for joy. Apprently, he didn't realize that he's responsible for Terrelle Pryor's {aka JaMarcus Russel Jr.} fuckups, and the cover-up is worse than the crime itself. College football is great and all, but a lot of things there would make Washington D.C. seem sanitary by comparison.

Just stop worrying, and love the bomb.

Well in a way the Browns did won a Super Bowl...just the insides of it sold to Baltimore. The current Browns were just the pushed out browns from someone's rectum wrapped with the outside part of the Browns.

They're better off being renamed "Cleveland Steamers".

Of course you could say the same thing about the Baltimore Colts and how they left for Indianapolis in the 80's. The only difference is Baltimore wasn't force fed a new football team like Cleveland was.

They're better off being renamed "Cleveland Steamers".

Nice Blitz: The League reference. It probably wouldn't have mattered if they did call themselves that or retain their old name, {which they did} Cleveland has a shitty team and about 95% of the fans are shit as well.

Indeed, as much as they would love to deny it, the Ravens are not the expansion team. The team currently known as Browns on the other hand...

Also I heard that Irsay's name is treated in the same manner as Voldemort. I while I can understand why Unitas disowned the Colts after what happened in 1983 but wasn't that a bit much? I mean it's not like Irsay tried to kill an infant although he did killed several people by despairing them into suicides...

For the latter part, my Giants did the same to the Patriots fans so...and almost Seau as well.

One more thing, the entire Colts team were moved, not just the insides. Even took their history as well which made it worse for the Baltimore fans.

Bad enough that it happened overnight where everyone were in bed sleeping. At least the old Browns history remains in Cleveland even though they're not the same team.

I did some research on this and it has to be one of the craziest things to ever happen in the league's history. 15 trucks transporting shit across state lines to avoid the Maryland government? Hahahaha. Amazing. Sounds like something that would have happened during WW2, not the 80s...

Sorry for the double post, but I'd really like to talk about this.

So, today, I looked up my future college's 2011 Football schedule and found this on their website:

Miami University (Ohio) Football Schedule

Sat., Sep. 3-at Missouri
Sat., Sep. 17-at Minnesota
Sat., Sep. 24-vs. Bowling Green (Family Weekend)
Sat., Oct. 1-vs. Cincinnati
Sat., Oct. 8-vs. Army
Sat., Oct. 15-at Kent State
Sat., Oct. 22-at Toledo
Sat., Oct. 29-vs. Buffalo (Homecoming)
Thu., Nov. 3-vs. Akron
Wed., Nov. 9-at Temple
Wed., Nov. 16-vs. Western Michigan
Tue., Nov. 22-at Ohio University
Fri., Dec. 2-Marathon MAC Championship Game

So, I know that last year, Miami had a winning season and went to the GoDaddy.com Bowl. What I want to know is how they're supposed to do this year and If I'll be able to enjoy myself as a freshman watching these games. Do you dudes have any thoughts?

I'll bet that they'll have a better season than Ohio State, at least that's what I'm hoping for. Considering that Jim Tressel is gone, and so is Pryor, they are going to fall back down to earth, even when they get their suspended players back at Nebraska. {which probably won't matter, their going to get their asses handed to in Lincoln.} As for Miami U {OH}, It's really a crapshoot, considering that 2 years ago, they were 1-11, and then magically turned it around last season to win the MAC. I'm guessing probably 8-4 at best, considering they really got more lucky than good last season.

Let's see what else is happening in College football:

BCS strips USC of the '04 national title. Like that matters, anyway, considering USC made Oklahoma look like a high school team in the Orange Bowl. USC was IMO the best team that year, but I'm sure Auburn fans will have a different story. {Sorry Utah, but they don't count in this discussion, considering that USC would probably thrash them worse than what they did to Oklahoma.}

Terrelle Pryor {stupid bastard} leaves Ohio State, and the worst is yet to come. Now I just don't care what else comes out now, just drop the hammer on them and get it over with. I guess will see him in a UFL or CFL uniform soon, and he'll be a skinnier JaMarcus Russell.

Just stop worrying, and love the bomb.

That's what happens when the NFL lockout last for over 100 days without a deal, players have to find something else to get their faces on TV and remain relevent. {although it's better than getting arrested.}For Peyton Manning, he could do something as simple as sell bubble gum or take a crap somewhere, and ESPN will be all over it like maggots on a carcass.

Carson Palmer sells his home in Cincinnati

Well, looks like he's really about to make good on his threat to retire if he doesn't get traded. Either way, it looks like he won't be chucking around the football for Cincy if there's football this year. That's probably for the best, right?

Probably since Bengals are getting worse and the o-line might become part of the reason why his career would end if he decides to stick with them.

I wonder if the Viqueens would be interested...
