We all thought he was going to be the Avs' star Rookie this year. Sorry Wojtek, but Paul Stastny has a marginally easier name to spell

Also, Paul Stastny's about to break teemy selanne's rookie point streak record.

Well, he doesn't seem to be bothered about it, at least on the outside. What a pro.

Still, I hope he does it, because that means we're scoring goals. Goals mean we have a chance to win games... kinda sad to think we're near the league lead in goals for, isn't it?

All depends on what the GM thought about it - either you weren't going to make the playoffs (unlikely) or he got an offer he couldn't refuse

Well, Theodore was underwhelmingly bad, and Liles & Leopold were both out for a while, Svatos underperformed all year, and overall the team is great offensively but doesn't have enough defense, esp. with their best D man being an offensive-type of defenseman (Liles).

The whole problem with the Avalanche is ever since Forsey and Blake left they haven't had any real tough physical players. The just watch the other team with the puck and throw a poke check or two. Even when they're on offense they don't fight for the puck, they just play a puck possession game avoiding the hit as much as possible.

I just fucking hope that the Avs make the playoffs.

I agree, I hate him but you have to admit that he's better than Aebischer. I still think they would have been better off with someone else though.

Hollweg gave simon a cheapshot, simon took the retaliation wayyyy too far, concussion or not.

Not being allowed to participate in the playoffs is a bitch, but he played enough games for his name to be on the cup, so it's not too bad.

I'm actually of the mindset that it was a little too harsh a suspension. the hit was in the heat of moment, while he was still blind with fury over the from behind, late, hit. Whereas Marty McSorely and Bertuzzi had both premeditated their actions.

The entirety of the regular season should've been it for the suspension.

Lets face it, if we didn't have a quality tender like Budaj in net, we'd be in a fucking big hole.

The coach doesn't want us to be too physical, because our PK sucks.

I just fucking hope that the Avs make the playoffs.

Maybe if we missed them, we'd get the wake up call we need?

Desperate times, eh Buddhist?

At 3/10/07 12:46 AM, DarkSoldier wrote: Do you like Theodore?

To be honest, I did appreciate both Aebischer and Theodore. Abby was beginning to turn a corner and then we made a boneheaded trade to send him to Montreal for a cripple. I thought last season was over when we did that, but Budaj stood his ground. Problem being that when we got to the playoffs, we stuck Theodore in net, which worked for a time.

Now Theodore is a very expensive backup tender. We're paying him 3 times more than Budaj to sit and watch Budaj steal his limelight!

At 3/13/07 02:39 AM, VeryProudofYa wrote: Hollweg gave simon a cheapshot, simon took the retaliation wayyyy too far, concussion or not.

Chris Simon deserved his ban, regardless of weather or not it was spur of the moment or impulsive.

McSorley nearly impaled the guy (whose name escapes me) with his stick, while Bertuzzi tried to push Steve Moore's face through the ice by punching him repeatedly on the back of the head. The NHL gave them a fair suspension and they were investigated by the police (although neither of which resulted in prosecutions) Chris Simon isn't worthy of police investigation for an impulsive action like that, but the suspension is fair.

uh, from the way you described Marty's suspension I'm thinking you have no idea what he did.

His story is that he was trying to tap Brashear's shoulder to initiate a fight, which is common practice, and looks to be the intent when you review what happen. He just ended up glancing Brash's skull. It really doesn't even look bad when you watch it. The McSorely suspension was more a case of damage done than a horribly grievous action on his part. The same with the investigation he underwent. You think they'd have batted an eye if Donald had turned around and put up the dukes?

not a chance.

Oh well, it's not like simon was much of an impact player. I imagine it's akin to Lappy leaving the avs or Shawn Thornton parting with the ducks.

Thought I got a good deal there, the Rangers are heading the right way at the moment.

I'm getting confused flashbacks from the Steve Moore career ending incident, when he got sucker punched and the Canucks player in question tried to give him the bum love

What can I say, I have nothing to lose. I'm just riding FAs and talent about now.

Investments pay off, I suppose (see: JONNY CHEECH!). Well, except for Knuble.

Speaking of which I wish I had dealt him, but no dice. Ah well. Let's just hope he gets something going again with Jeff Carter & Simon Gagne...

You and me both. Problem being that you're increasing the gap on an almost daily basis now -.-

Well, that investment didn't pay off early in the year for me...

My ray of light seems to be the goalies at present - Norrena beat the Wings last night for 6 points, while tonight Budaj goes against the oilers (again)

I hope he makes it a shutout, but we've got to get the win first and foremost, as the gap is back to six points

Can't get much better than undefeated in regulation.

I know we're undefeated in regulation in our last 10, but we left ourselves with too much to do. 5 points is still 5 points and when the Flames are winning as well as us, we can't close that gap.

I think we can make it an interesting fight, but I'm still adamant that missing the playoffs would be better for us, as we will then know the agony of being so close and will have the drive not to let it happen again next year.
