Also, I don't think Gretzky was the best ever. Orr > Gretzky.

Well maybe if Orr didn't have his injury problems...but same goes for Lemieux though too. Gretzky is lucky cause no one was aloud to touch him without getting pounded afterwards...Gretzky always had protection and Orr and Lemieux didn't, they were their own protection.

Yeah, Gretzky was a whimp. Orr was just a motherfucking Sherman tank on skates. He dominated every single aspect of the game when he was in his prime.
Also, wooooot, we won! What a good game too. Canada really got it going at the start of every period.

Yeah. No hockey until Decemberish.

Finland got their revenge, damnit.

It was a pretty good game. And a great tournament. Finland's phenomenal effort just wasn't quite enough. But you guys gotta give credit to Tuomo Ruutu for that amazing ownage.
Best...
Goal...
Ever...

Yeah I heard about it pretty soon. It could explain why Finland had serious difficulties against Germany in the quarter finals, but I'm glad the team got its motivation back soon enough.

I don't think the NHL will be on at all this season. Even if they get an agreement, most players probably still won't be happy and will just stay in Europe for the remander of the season. The players should just accept a salary cap. They are asking to much for a 30mill salary cap though...I'd say more 35mill cap, that is more reasonable. Teams like Calgary and Tampa Bay wouldn't really get affected, but teams like NYR, Detroit, and Colorado would have to either lower their play salaries or trade some of their players. Most teams would have to lower their player salary by a bit...but eventually, the player won't even notice that their salary may have dropped from 5mill to 3.5mill or so...Even the rookies coming in at 500thousand would go down to 300thousand...it's still a lot of money.

Fuck NHL players and all other Pro Athletes are WAY over paid!!

there making millions for playing hockey!!

And There asking for more!!

well not really more but they don't want to get less... still.

"No 3.5 mil for playing hockey is not enough!"

Come on... they are artist... it's like music bands and actor.... Carmen Diaz gain 30million per movie... Metallica is worth over 300Millions!!! Hockey player aren't different... they are paid for giving a show....
there's like what.... 7 000 000 000 people on Earth... let's say 28player for each pf the 30 team. It,s 840 so it equal to less than 0.00000012% So it's kind of normal to gain an average of 1.78millions per year to play. You know that an hockey player will in average be paid 15years in all is lifetime... you know that right? And for the top 0.00000012% of the planet... I don't not thinks it's that high paid... how much you think gain the top 1% of salesman ? Probably around 2 million right?

In case anyone cares, the Finnish hockey league SM-liiga (no it doesn't mean sado-maso in this case) started off today. Ville Nieminen (CGY Flames) was the first NHL player to come to play in the Finnish hockey leage due to the NHL lock-out this year. His team lost 1-6 though :/

I'm a bit disappointed with just one NHL player. There were supposed to be more of them. So this lock-out unlucky for you guys won't be such a lucky event for Finnish hockey fans after all. However, more NHL players are to be expected later on the season. The guys just want to take a break after the World Cup. I'm really looking forward to see Tuomo Ruutu play in Finland again. He's given some hints that he might come to play here during the lock-out.

This will be over by 2005. For sure.

Wouldn't be funny if April 1st the NHL and the NHLPA were like "April Fools!! There was no lockout we've been playing games secretly and the flames are undefeated and Tampa is last in the west."

WooHoo! I give you a round of applause. But if I were you, I'd piss him off so much that he blocks me instead. That would be much more satisfying than just blocking him.

But the thing is...Phaneuf won't be playing right away. Sutter will keep him in the farm team for maybe 1 or 2 more years...then bring him up when Phaneuf has really improved. But it might not matter cause it might be a whole year or more before the NHL is up and running again.

I'd probably say Thorton or Sakic. They played extremely well in the WCH of hockey, and probably would have carried that through to the season...but unfortunatly, there is no season
