It will certainly be interesting to see where he ends up.

Any updates on the Svatos rumours?

hesux. Also I doubt he'd get dealt. Probably just drawn out haggling on his worth. he scores a lot of goals, but has low point totals and is very injury prone. he shouldn't get much more than 2.5 mil at this point

I wouldn't go that far.

If he stays with the Avs, he's a decent second row forward. Granted, he is a little greedy when it comes to taking shots, but I wouldn't mind having his goal scoring production stay with the team, unless it's at the expense of proper talent, like Stastny, for example.

aaaand svatos is resigned, two years, 4 mil. That's about right.

'According to Adrian Dater at All Things Avs, the contract is worth a total of $4.1 million-$1.75 this year and $2.35 next year. '

Alexei Zhitnik, who was bought out of the last year of his contract by the Thrashers just a few weeks ago, has joined Dynamo Moscow on a tryout contract. The contract expires at the end of Dynamo's training camp. If at that time Zhitnik opts to stay in Russia, the Dynamo will have the right of first refusal on any contract that he's offered.

I hope the Oilers get him because they have failed to get every other super star who was an UFA. I hate sundin but... the Oilers need another cup and they need someone who is considered a super star to get them that but he didn't do anything for the Maple Leafs so... the oilers are doomed no matter what ;(

I still think he's worth keeping hold of. His goals are something that we still need

Unfortunate turn of events for the Thrash, I thought they could use him well.

You've got 4.5 weeks to go yet, so stay ready. Anyone running the fantasy league this time around?

I'm in, and complete with new computer and OS, I won't flake on the draft this year. Therefore, there will be a better team.

I would like to join that as I've never had a chance to even though Dobio invited me once.

I've just been busy with school so yeah but now I've become more lazy and don't really care about school :)

I was playing NHL 09's demo on the PS3 and i must say i prefer NHL 08's demo. I've only played that demo on the 360 though.

There is quite a bit of glitches in NHL 09 and some weird scoring.

Weird scoring? Could you please expand upon that - are there some new rules that we need to consider, perhaps?

It's probably glitch scoring, something a little like this.

Now it seems that he won't even decide until after the season starts. That'll have an effect on the Fantasy Hockey League on taking a chance drafting him or not.

I wouldn't take a chance of drafting him just yet - wait until the rumor mill starts to get going about where he might land, then drop someone who's not performing so well to pick him up. Although at his age, I'd put a rather large BUST WARNING on that deal though.

Expect to see Mats featuring in a Coop fantasy team in the next 2-3 months :P

I'd better be online in time for the draft to make sure I don't end up with him then :P

Forget about the demo. I got the full game on PS3 2 days ago :D

By weird scoring i meant really easy goals that should be stopped. Like, in be a pro mode my first goal was scored really weird. I shot the puck and the goalie stopped it but dropped the puck then the puck was between his pad and the post and all i did was skate to where the puck was and i scored...

New rules? Well, i never owned NHL 08 so i couldn't really say.

That's just poor programming, as the developers haven't taking into consideration that the goalie might do something like that, usually, they would cover the puck or knock it behind the net, wouldn't they? Perhaps they got him to try and do that, but it moved back into the post, leaving the open goal.

Montreal takes Robert Lang over Sundin?

Good choice but yeah, sundin should just make up his mind cause really no one will care, right?

Would Mats really choose to play for Montreal? I mean, he plays for the biggest bust team of the past 15 years for his career, then lands in Montreal. That's got to suck.

Good choice but yeah, sundin should just make up his mind cause really no one will care, right?

I just get that feeling that our GM is after him, considering the all the Toronto rejects we've landed this off season :P

That would be a decent fit for him, but then you could also consider that teams like Detroit might be a decent fit - they can absorb a veteran who wants to win a cup before retiring.

Kind of like Ray Borque, only not so heart warming.

20 years in Boston, 1 year in Colorado. Only 1 cup, and that's in Colorado. Heart-warming, indeed.

I'm sure it was actually 20 3/4 seasons for the Bruins, 1 1/4 seasons in Colorado. He only stayed on for the 00/01 season because he wanted that cup so badly. If the Avs had won it all in 00, we would not have won mission 16W - Ray Bourque carried us emotionally as well as on the ice, with some damed impressive numbers for a defenseman!

Yeah, but isn't Nik Lidstrom the next Chris Chelios? :P

I think they've got a few seasons left in that department and they are making strides. I would hope that they could spend a season with a below average defense, because they are so overpowered at the moment.

In the same way that Owen Nolan is the next Sidney Crosby.
Rather, Sidney Crosby is the next Owen Nolan.

You dare disrespect the mighty Chris Chelios? He's one of the only Red Wings players that I have respect for.
