Damn, we've lost a good player there. I hope we can get someone to step into the breach to replace him.
Yesterday, we signed Darcy Tucker to a 2 year contract. My first reaction - BUST! Never really been a fan of Darcy and why would we want players that Toronto don't want?
The Capitals signed G Jose Theodore to a two-year contract. Theodore, 31, became an unrestricted free agent on July 1 after playing out a three-year, $16 million contract. The Avalanche replaced Theodore by signing G Andrew Raycroft to a one-year deal worth an undisclosed sum.
I think Raycroft has got decent potential, as he wasn't too bad for the Bruins and he managed to win 37 games with the Leafs in one season. Maybe he's got a chance with us. I'm somewhat surprised about the goalie merry-go-round this year, as I never saw it coming.
Granted, Chicago did need a goalie to shore up where Khabibulin and Lalime had been doing a half-decent job. They've got a good young core of players and the addition of Huet probably makes them into a contender.
Losing Theodore does free up some cap space for us, but if we've spent all of that on Darcy Tucker, FUCK YOU WASHINGTON!
More recently, the Avalanche solidified their blueline by re-signing JM Liles and Adam Foote to contracts. The Leafs also signed D Jeff Finger from the Avalanche to a 4-year deal worth $3.5 million a season.
Liles and Foote are the only two bright sparks on the Blue line from last year for the Avs. Losing Jeff Finger isn't so bad. Just need to see how the replacement corps can step up and play.
