I`ve been working on something for this year since yesterday, and i want you all to give me your opinion, what should i change? what can be improved? All feedback appreciated!

You mean like, Clock Crew, Lock Legion, Kitty Krew and stuff like that?

Because Darnell(sp?) isn't in a crew.

I say the gunshot is a bit sloppy looking.
That's really it. Everything else looks fine. :]

I got a voice actor already for the part I need.
I'm up to exactly 37 seconds right now. My pace is slow, because I have to lip sync the voice clips which I hate doing. :[[[

Well if that's what he means then it might be a bit bad of an idea considering Newgrounds is paying and hosting ClockCrew.cc, and in a way some groups have made their stay on NG while other groups are just copycats.

tomorrow im going to try and go get a new asus motherboard and hopefully then i can get back on track... not sure if ill be able to get the multiplayer aspect of my game out for the actually pico day release but atleast the single player portion. By multiplayer i dont just mean two peps on one comp im talking multiplayer servers...

Id say just be creative and make up your own name. Or since it is on tom's birthday you could pay homage to him and have pico be in tom's hometown of perkasie PA. I drew the outside of his school in my pico day movie last year but it wasnt based on anything in particular it was just what his school looked like in my vision.

Also to Critas' post above, you are right pico's sleeves should be darker than the torso of his sweater if you want to be technically right. But I encourage people to have fun with the character, i think if you just keep the distinctive features of pico you could have him dress however you feel necessary.

The reason why I made his sleeves lighter because it seems more real-life like. Like usually when someone wears a long-sleeved shirt, I always picture it lighter than the actual shirt. It brings more in my opinion. But heck, what do I know?

Do any of you have any good tips on not having the edges so rough when drawing with the paint brush or do you just have to go round it sorting out the rough bits

i tried optimizing it and smoothing it totally messes it up even if i only change it a bit

Once you've drawn it, optimize/smooth(or straight infact) parts of it rather than the whole thing. You can get a pretty cool look from doing this, although obviously it's not practical for animating.

You can adjust the Smoothing of the brush from the brush properties window (click the brush, open up the properties panel). What i've noticed, is that 39-40 is where it all changes. I have mine at 40, and it is much different to 39. Have a play around at different smoothness-es(what).

I believe the pre-loader should be finished soon. I was actually thinking of making my own, but I don't know right now since I'm lacking time as it is. I've still gotten around 40 seconds of my animation done and there should be about 2-4 more minutes actually left to make. Today I didn't work much on my Pico Day animation though, because I kinda redid my "profile image" and my "sig" for Newgrounds. Another thing I DID do actually involving Pico is make the Title, and Menu screen along with the art for it.

Furthermore, all day in school today I kept doodling character images of Pico, with difffernet facial expressions and movements just for the fun of it. I got the style down by freehand so that's good, and I'm planning on ideas for another video script, I just don't know if i'm gonna put that to work since I've got this project as it is. Aha.

Well I haven't been seeing too many previews so far for Pico Day! Where are they people? Hah, I remember last year my adrenalin was pumping as I waited for the next Pico Day submission preview, to see what people where bringing to us this year. Hah, I'm still excited. Pico Day always seems to get me pumping. Just this day, and nothing else. Heh.

Preloader will be available sometime this month I'm thinking what I will do is lock this thread up and just start a new one that has the downloadable link and everything someone needs to get started. At that point i'll make a front page post about it.

Would you guys be opposed to a still or *VERY* minor animated aspect for the pico day preloader? One thing I need to be very concious of for this preloader is that games is part of the mix this year so 24fps is not always gonna fit the bill.. especially on games built with high frame rates.. I think just a still with just subtle animated background or something may be enough this year and it would look okay on everyones stuff no matter what the frame rate.

Ahh I don't really mind. A pre-loader is a pre-loader, it doesn't have to be classy or highly praised. It's just a preloader. Just make it simple. So we all are good in the end.

That's my opinion.

If it's just a tiny effect like last year's, then a bit of difference in speed won't matter.

I want to do my pre-loader game idea that I didn't have time for last year, anyway. So would probably have to tinker with it.

Yes, I would just give it some animation like last years, and then give a link to the tutorial in your front page post, so people will know they can use that for different frame rates.
