This is going to be the Polish Power (PP) crew.
To join post on the wall with an intention to join. No ranking, because we are all equal.
This clubs purpose will be to support Polish artists trying to submit flash to Newgrounds, especially artists that pride themselves in exposing others to Polish culture.
The purpose must not be condusive to spam, useless chatting, or unguided banter, and cannot be ridiculously obscure, specific, or tasteless. (Newgrundling)
When anyone learns of a Polish artist getting ready to post feel free to post up so that we can vote together.
Also a place to discuss Polish news, politics, and how being Polish is being God’s chosen people.
This is the second attempt, the first was half-ass. Let’s make this a strong crew.
Please don’t spam or do anything that can get this locked or stopped or whatever they call it.
I'm polish.
I'm completly fluent in speaking and reading I just can't write worth shit so I won't make you guys suffer through my horrible attempts at writing po polsku.
Since this place got just revived and I'm Polish, I just wanna say that yesterday I've ended reading a Polish biographic book about infamous polish writer Jerzy Urban called "Urban: Biografia". It costs me around 70 zł (which in pretty much 17 in USD) and while it's pretty solid (minus the last few sub-chapters of Chapter 5 and the gramatical errors like saying the same phrase twice), I also just realized...
Why does Urban in the cover looks like he's a Hollow Knight boss?
Well, I hope that post was meaningful in some way...
Lately I've been revisiting the works of the Polish prog band Zjednoczone Siły Natury Mech.
Their early output was really cool. It was definitely Mech's most complex and adventurous period. But since those tracks were all radio recordings/non-album singles, the material was quite hard to get in decent quality, before landing on CD in the form of a compilation (physical media exclusive limited edition). When they were ready to record their first studio LP, their style had already changed to more of a typical bluesy hard rock.
Okay, so as a Polish Person recently I was wondering: is the online service "35mm.online" a good way to watch old Polish media? If you are unaware, 35mm.online is EU-funded website which allows people to legelly watch Polish movies, animated shorts and chronicles for free. On it's service it has critically acclaimed films such as "Chłopaki nie płaczą" (Boys Don't Cry 2000, not to be confused with 1999 transgender film), "Seksmisja" (Sexmission), "Psy" (Pigs 1992), "Dzień Świra" (Day of the Wacko), "Nic Śmiesznego" (Nothing Funny), "Kiler" (Killer 1997, not to be confused with 2023 Netflix film), "Konsul" (Consul), "Miś" (Teddy Bear) and "Człowiek z Żelaza" (Man of Iron) reconstructed for free with English subtitles.
However when I was starting to watch "Boys Don't Cry" I noticed that the audio in that film sounded robotic and like it came out from DaVinci Resolve's "change audio speed" setting. So I searched about 35mm.online restorations and I found this thread, in which some noticed that some restorations on that site are somewhat inaccurate to the source material.
Also from what I've read on that forum "Teddy Bear" has it's colors changed and is kinda cropped, which makes it looks like a "Simpsons on Disney+ at launch" or bootleg Youtube upload (btw that version also aired on TV).
I'm making this posts, because that website is one of the two ways to watch old Polish media legally with Eng. subs. outside of EasternEuropeanMovies.com, which has the movies in it's original format and films from other nations like Hungary or East Germany (as well as movies that aren't on 35mm like Potop or Jak Rozpętałem II Wojnę Światową trilogy, you know, famous for "Grzegorz Brzęczyszczykiewicz" scene) however, that site is a "pay-to-watch" streaming service like HBO Max or Crunchyroll with absurd price tag (35 Euros per month!).
I'm asking this because I was recently wondering if I should start making videos about various Polish media (mostly video games but also books, films and events) in English when I get new laptop. Particially because for me it's interesting to look at something like "Polish FPS games on Amiga" or Polish games in general before The Witcher. Also I kinda want to see video about Polish Animation in similar vibe to kubricklynch's videos on Eastern Block Animations:
So what to not created themself? (expect I know nothing about making a video essay, so that going to be fun trying to learn)
Also most of "classic Polish films" I've watched years ago, so it would be useful to rewatch them.
Also, another question that is even stranger than the last one:
What's your guys thoughts on "Letycjusz S"? If you don't know, Letycjusz S is a Polish Bisexual YTPer that was once famous in Poland for his YTPs of The Amazing World of Gumball, Star Butterfly vs The Forces of Evil and Fireman Sam. Recently he a YTP of a Polish Commentary Creator "Dominik Bos" that is 1 HOUR and 23 MINUTES long:
(Also to my knowledge it's the longest YTP made by a single person in general and I originally wanted to make this post just to share this video)
He's also somewhat famous in YTP Community for making entries in Polish, English and Russian YTP Collabs and bringing references to Poland in the English Ones (like in that one "3 seconds of Michael Rosen" Collab in which he recreated a first line of infamous Prostacare Plus commercial with Michael Rosen, his rapid fire editing style, dislike for drama (ironically), love for Touhou and general "Polish Patriotic Vibes". Also Ironically, he dislikes Cypis, a man famous for his song "Gdzie jest biały węgorz", that is famous as a "Polish Dancing Cow Meme" song (one of the most famous Polish-related meme).
Letycjusz is recently my main inspiration to make videos, so I wonder how the Polish Newgrounds community feels about him. (also sorry for such a long wall of text).
