Claxor, Frostmuffins, Chris K, Jacklee

jacklee needs to dodge, glaiel's doesn't seem to ever fire, wd to teh Claxorbot

##++Battle 15 - Link
SkeikSprite, Cybex, Ferretter, Authorblues

Everyone seems to have it in for AB! Once Ferreter was out of the match, bit of a foregone conclusion.

##++Battle 16 - Link
Void24, Peturo, Eggy, Fwe

Nice position prediction on the Void bot, something fwe's lacks. Shame, because that firepower, if it was going in the right direction, would paste pretty much any of them.

I guess the corner camper approach works then, on occasion :)

##++Battle 18 - Link
JD, Defrag, DingoEatingFuzz, jmtb02

Oops, John got pasted. Defrag bot is still evil.

##++Battle 19 - Link
Paranoia, Vengeance, Newsdee, TastyLamp

Yay, good to see newsdee win a game, although surprised it survived the Vengeance shower.

Excellent battle between Void & Claxor, enjoyed that one

Heh, walkover

Claxor, Void, and Defrag all have good bots. Reckon Defrag will win unless he gets gangraped again, though. But the others, particularly Claxor, have a good chance

I am saying that Defrag will take out Void, and Claxor will kill Newsdee. As for the final, I think Defrag will probably beat Claxor. This is due to Claxor's one on one weakness.

Wow, I can't wait. I'm quite certain this will be one of the most exciting battles so far :D
I really fear I won't reach the finals. My best wish is that Defrag and Void will go towards each other in the beginning. Given my lame 1 on 1 skills I need an advantage to win if it comes to that :)

It's Kinda simple to bypass :P

There's no need. Every trigonometric function taking rotation as an argument gives the same result independantly of how high it is.

In my UNFINISHED bot, I was keeping a history of changes of the angle to a bot it wanted dead, that is adding the diffirence of the angle from the last angle and the current average divided by a distance-dependant number around eight, then added that average times the distance divided by eight to the actual angle and then released a sine-rail with the width of seven. :D!

Where the hell do you learn to do that type of algorithm, it is an algorithm right? :P. I know my school doesn't start teaching that sort of thing until GCSEs, although I'm already about 2 years above everyone in IT, i still have to make a simple button. I hate my school :(.

looking forward to the last battles :O.

It's simply a matter of thinking logically. Think again and again until you figure out how, and it gets easier with time. Of course it's also a matter of natural smartness, something gust has an overflow of >:(

don't keep it yourself, share it ffs

Wha? I won! One match! Next one free! And second on the third one! That made my day!
Yes, I have no illusions that Claxor will completely own me in the last one, no surprises there. I was the first bot he owned in the first round anyway.

I guess it makes sense, since my bot runs on sheer luck. It has a fake (rule-compliant) random behavior. By rule compliant I mean it will be the same movement if you replay the match, but it uses sines, cosines, and a counter to follow an unpredictable pattern. It's simple but it should throw off predictor bots. Didn't have too much time to work on it, unfortunately.

I doubt it's that bad for you...

At 1/9/07 03:00 PM, Depredation wrote: Where the hell do you learn to do that type of algorithm, it is an algorithm right?

Algorithm? Not really, just a small imitation of how I aim in 2d. Half an hour to figure out the concept and then steal everyone's solutions to compensate for my now retarded thinking.

I know my school doesn't start teaching that sort of thing until GCSEs,

My school don't teach trigonometry.

although I'm already about 2 years above everyone in IT,

I'm about five years above everyone in psychology and philosophy.

average = 0;
t = 0;

In my UNFINISHED bot, I was keeping a history of changes of the angle

shotAngle2 = angle;
angle = to (focus);

to a bot it wanted dead, that is adding the diffirence of the angle from the last angle
and the current average

angle - (shotAngle2 + average)

divided by a distance-dependant number around eight,

average += (angle - shotAngle2) / 8;
// the 8 is the impact on the average, flexible as bot requires
// to have a quicker lock if focus angle changes evenly enough

then added that average times the distance divided by eight to the actual angle

shotAngle2 += average * dist (focus) / 8;

and then released a sine-rail with the width of seven.

shotAngle = shotAngle2 + sin (t += 0.2) * 7;

Very good fights claxor.

And good fight defrag, you were the bot I feared from the beginning.

I got too close to the spray of doom.

Agree with that, gonna delete some posts now - if you guys have anything else to say on the infinity question, go to the thread Jesus linked, here. Congratulations to defrag, a destructive bot indeed, and a shame to see Claxor get picked on by all three at the start. Seeing these battles has REALLY made me wish I was involved, so I'll be working on a bot in my spare chance, on the off-chance that these competitions will happen monthly, rather than yearly. They're a great way to bring the community together and show off some AS skills, as well as hilarious at times to watch. jmtb deserves some major recognition for taking the time to (re)code the engine and organise the competition, it's appreciated by not just the participants but also the observers

YES! Finally. I knew my loss was a fluke, I KNEW IT. D:

Heh, good shows all around. MOGLY FTW. A big sadface to claxor getting killed, but it's neutralized by the fact that I played a small part in doing so. Even though I submitted a bot, his was my favorite. Had the most... personality.

Anyway, I feel like my hard work is finally paying off, even if it is in the second bracket. Good luck all around for the finals! (What's the ETA on those, anyway?)

I think Defrag has the best chance to win tomorrow. Defrag's firepower seems to be a bit stronger, and it's definitely going to be a huge help for two bots who's obsession is dealing large amounts of ammo in a short amount of time.
