I had low expectations for tonight, but I’m really glad I went to tonight’s PPV. AJ Styles was amazing and that main event really delivered. Only thing that made me mad was the weird ending to the New Day match, but that’ll probably lead to a cool three-way tagtean mstch at Mania, so I’ll let it slide.
Here’s a photo from where I was sitting.
I haven't been feeling the Hammer Bros since they got repackaged, but if you take an objective step back and consider their power game, and how it would mix with the high octane style of the Usos and New Day, this could end up potentially being a TLC match to rival those of the Dudleys, Hardy's and E&C. TLC is the pretty much the ONLY match I wanna see these 3 teams in together.
The whole Shane/Owens/Zayne thing is getting interesting. We're at the point where it's no longer clear who the babyfaces/heels actually are anymore. They kept teasing that Daniel Bryan was gonna be the one to heel turn, but that's feeling more and more like a red herring.
Asuka showing up to challenge Charlotte was great. I did sort of see it coming after Alexa made Nia Jax cry on Raw last week. They are clearly setting up a Jaxx/Bliss fight, but it wasn't clear if that was going to happen at Mania or not.
TBH, I really hadn't been feeling Roode since he joined the main roster. Hopefully he goes heel after his title loss, because that version of him is FAR more entertaining, and about the only way to make a 3-way with Jinder and Orton somewhat interesting.
I still highly doubt Cena won't be on the Mania card, so something interesting HAS to happen with him over the next few weeks. One angle I could see working is John feeling like he has to prove himself by any means necessary, and picking a fight with Strowman. If he jumps Braun from behind or something, and sells that he can beat him if he's willing to play dirty, that could sell pretty well. He might just come out and give another speech about how disappointed he is and get challenged by some returning star or a major NXT call-up too. There's a lot of potential for him to ultimately prop up someone that's not currently on the mania card.
Corbin vs Ziggler on the Mania pre-show maybe? I see both guys making the card, but not in a significant slot. Or they'll just be in the Andre Battle Royal.
Whatever happens, it's a pretty safe bet AJ/Nakamura steals the show, and then creative wastes any momentum they build together because they still don't know how to handle Nakamura. I do expect him to beat AJ, just based on rumors they want AJ on RAW ASAP, but I doubt he keeps the belt beyond Summerslam.
