Oh what the heck...I won't be able to see the show till Monday (buddy of mine and I have a tradition to get it, but work schedules mean we can't watch till Monday)...but I'll chime in with some predictions.
WWE Tag Team Champions Epico and Primo vs. Jimmy & Jey Uso vs. Justin Gabriel and Tyson Kidd
Dark match that won't be dark. I say leave the belts on E and P right now. If they care about the division, have the Uso's get screwed to build a bit of a feud...since they probably don't, why flip the belts, just let them have a bit of a fast paced bout to warm up the crowd.
Intercontinental Champion Cody Rhodes vs. Big Show
Cody should win, Cody needs the win. Show is a guy that's been on the yo yo forever, it'd be a feel good, thank you moment for him to win here. For Cody it would mean something. I think this has been well built, I'd put Cody over here via some screw job and let this feud continue on and Show can have his revenge at some future show. Show can break his "streak" next year or the year after without sacrificing a useful talent k thanx.
Randy Orton vs. Kane
Who cares? This one is to get these guys on the show and somewhat protect Orton. Kane means little and less at this stage. RKO and Orton gets a victory, the end. I'd open with this one honestly.
Triple H vs. The Undertaker
Taker. No other finish makes sense. As far gone as they seem to act at times I just can't wrap my head around the idea that they'd seriously consider H going over him. I think we should get a pretty brutal match since both guys are probably on the once or twice a year plan at this point, so there's no need to worry about getting banged up and not working the next night. You'll get a "will he or won't he?" moment with Michaels teasing if he'll screw Taker, but in the end he'll call it right down the middle. Possibility for a shenanigans after the match or during the finish if WWE strikes the big deal they want...but even if they do, and they do it here, more like to be in the aftermath I'd say. Match of the night candidate if both guys really are ready and up to go.
World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan vs. Sheamus
I think they go with Sheamus here, and I'm good with that. With Orton breaking down a bit more, Sheamus is the most logical choice to try and fill the slot Edge vacated of "The Man" on SD!. I do think Bryan should be kept strong here and this should be booked as a competitive back and forth, but I think when you're trying to make a guy into the leader of his show, you have to do it when you've got the most eyeballs on the event you do it at. Never gonna have more eyeballs on them then at Mania, so I think the time is ripe for a switch. You could make the case that they should swerve and leave it on Bryan to milk the chase longer (and I wouldn't say you're entirely wrong or it would be a complete disaster if they did), and this is the one match where I think it would be acceptable to defy the expectation and go with a real swerve. But in the end, I think there's more upside to putting it on Sheamus, and maybe flipping it back to Bryan in a couple months or so and then maybe build to ending this feud by SS. End of the day, they need to cement Sheamus as top face for Smackdown! more then anything else
Team Teddy (Santino Marella (captain), R-Truth, Kofi Kingston, Zack Ryder, The Great Khali, and Booker T) (with Hornswoggle) vs. Team Johnny (David Otunga (captain), Mark Henry, Dolph Ziggler, Jack Swagger, The Miz, and Drew McIntyre) (with Vickie Guerrero)
I WANT Team Teddy to win and Larengytis to then immediately leave my tv and the feud to end right there...unfortunately the amount of time WWE has put into promoting this thing makes me think that where we see dumb comedy filler, they think this is some brilliant story and an epic idea. Therefore I think Team Johnny will win (especially since they have a WAAAAY more credible team) and we'll get the story of Teddy trying to struggle his way back into power again...psssh.
Kelly Kelly and Maria Menounos vs. Beth Phoenix and Eve Torres
This is one of the worst celebrity crossovers ever...to be honest? I didn't even know this was on the card until like a week or two ago. Menounos apparently has two cracked ribs from DWTS, so either she's just going to tag in to do a move and get the cover, or she isn't working at all...have heard people suggest she could bow out, Kharma could come back as a surprise and Maria can work the corner, I'd like that a hell of a lot better.
WWE Champion CM Punk vs. Chris Jericho
I've heard this should absolutely get time. I have enjoyed the build here (minus the bastard thing from last monday, thought that was a bit silly...but they got me back with the way they had Punk just destroy Christian as a proxy). If this gets booked as just a really intense grudge situation with some great wrestling interspersed this could steal the show from the more hyped main events. Probably the biggest reason to buy the show for me. Punk retains because Jericho is in to help him build up.
The Rock vs. John Cena
Should be decent, really don't care. The overhype has killed this for me in a lot of ways. I see Cena either going over clean, or WWE makes that deal and they have a big surprise to mess with the finish. I'm more interested in the aftermath then the actual match at this point. But to be fair, I felt the same way about Hogan/Rock 10 years ago and wound up liking that match a heck of a lot more then I thought I would.
