He was fairly entertaining as a heel. Yes, Edge carried him during the Rated RKO run, but IMHO, Orton's characteristics fit the heel role better.

SD wasn't bad last night. I liked the tag match between Ziggler/Swagger and Kofi/Ryder and the match Sheamus had was good too. The battle royal was so crowded that it was touigh to get into it at firt but the end result was decent. That RKO on the side of the ring looked nasty as hell..

I didn't know Matt Striker was back in action.. Or is he?

I think WWE is losing the crowd with the Sin Cara fued. I think they are making it more confusing rather than entertaining.

Cody continues to impress. I really hope he is able to take full advantage of the fued he is in.

Ok, so monday night raw, HHH gets shafted and Laryngitis becomes the interim GM of raw.

Sorry for a late Raw post, I worked monday night and pirated it today.

I take it the whole "Anonymous GM" is gone and forgotten then? Or what? That makes no goddamn sense. So, he's no longer allowed to be on raw or what? They could have entirely avoided this by naming him GM when they named him COO instead of whoring this mess out. But hey. I dont really mind as long as HHH is gonna be a part of the picture a bit more.

Also, i'm honestly getting sick of JoMo having to job for shits and giggles. I mean, a bit here and there is one thing, but he's lost since he's come back. And that was like 2 months ago or some shit.

I think it's mostly for the Mexico tapings. At least I heard that's the idea. I think the problem here is that they are doing a very lucha style feud and issue...and the average american fan has no clue why or how to get invested in such a thing. So they're booking something for a specific audience, but it's not really translating for the whole as I imagine they wanted.

Cody continues to impress. I really hope he is able to take full advantage of the fued he is in.

I think he can as long as they understand Orton has to lay down a time or two, and Cody has to look like he can hang. He's got a lot of momentum and has been brought along solidly. If he gets into this feud with Orton and gets RKO'ed eternally and never looks credible, then all that work is for nothing. WWE has a good opportunity here, but they can't do their usual mistreatment of heels when they get near or at the top.

Been busy I guess. :P

RAW sucked, as usual, Smackdown was great. Mark Henry is the man right now, of course no where near the amazing Christian.

And they continue to bury Morrison... I wonder what the hell he did to get put in the doghouse this time? Christian is on a roll and hopefully can keep a spot as a top heel. His in ring work has been great too. I also agree that Henry has been impressive in this run.

Anyway, Vengeance predictions.

WWE Champion Alberto del Rio vs. John Cena (Last Man Standing Match)

I hope ADR keeps the title this time around. I really don't want Cena/Rock to be a title match and if Cena wins the title back I have a feeling he's keep it till then. Plus if they really want ADR to be credible he really really needs this win over Cena.

World Heavyweight Champion Mark Henry vs. Big Show

Show is back to his role of making champions look good by having them beat him. He's good at it so this should be an ok match.

Triple H & CM Punk vs. The Miz & R Truth (Awesome Truth)

I'd like to see Miz and Truth win here, but knowing who they are up against I don't think that will happen.

United States Champion Dolph Ziggler vs. Zack Ryder

Go Ryder!!! Woo Woo Woo!!!

Randy Orton vs. Intercontinental Champion Cody Rhodes

I'm rooting for Cody in this one. I think his character has been awesome these past few weeks and I'd like to see the momentum keep going for him.

Sheamus vs. Christian

Tough call with this one. I think Sheamus will proabably win but Christian will no doubt put up a good fight.

Divas Champion Beth Phoenix vs. Eve

meh.

WWE Tag Team Champions Kofi Kingston & Evan Bourne (Air Boom) vs. Jack Swagger and Dolph Ziggler

I went against Ziggler before so now I'll go the opposite and say he and swagger will walk away the tag team champions. I'm probably wrong but whatever.

Is it just me or does it seem like we are seeing less and less of DB. He's still got the MITB case right? Why is he losing to Barrett?

I agree. I mean, I hope he doesnt, but I dont see Cena losing that match without outside interference. Which very well may happen with Rodriguez, cause there's nothing keeping him sidelined for the match.

World Heavyweight Champion Mark Henry vs. Big Show

I kinda hope Show wins, but i'm really enjoying Henry's run. However the whole IM BATSHIT CRAZY HALL OF PAIN BLAH BLAH BLAH is kind of boring now. So it's tough.

Triple H & CM Punk vs. The Miz & R Truth (Awesome Truth)

Completely agree. I really hope they do some more fun foxhole buddy type shit later on down the line.

United States Champion Dolph Ziggler vs. Zack Ryder

It depends. I can see Ziggler winning this match, keeping the title, and then losing to Air Boom later on in the night.

Randy Orton vs. Intercontinental Champion Cody Rhodes

Not unless they really want to fuck up this whole feud. I think Rhodes will keep the title for a bit longer, and then lose it against someone else.

Sheamus vs. Christian

I dont really know. This one is probably going to be a fucking awesome match, barring outside intervention. I'm gonna take a quick guess and call it for Sheamus.

Divas Champion Beth Phoenix vs. Eve

I would let Beth Phoenix pee on me. <3

WWE Tag Team Champions Kofi Kingston & Evan Bourne (Air Boom) vs. Jack Swagger and Dolph Ziggler

I hope it's Air Boom, i'm really enjoying their matches and them as a tag team stable.

I'm very excited for Vengeance. Granted, I wont be able to see it till after it hits the internet, but hey.

WWE Champion Alberto del Rio vs. John Cena (Last Man Standing Match)

Sadly, Cena will win. Keep in mind that he has never lost a LMS match as a face.

World Heavyweight Champion Mark Henry vs. Big Show

Big Show will win by DQ to keep the feud alive.

Triple H & CM Punk vs. The Miz & R Truth (Awesome Truth)

H and Punk will win this one. I just hope that the Awesome Truth are made look decent in the match.

United States Champion Dolph Ziggler vs. Zack Ryder

Who is Zack Ryder? Seriously...I don't give a fuck about the internet champion. Anyway, Ziggler wins.

Randy Orton vs. Intercontinental Champion Cody Rhodes

There is no point of giving Orton the IC title, so I see Rhodes winning here.

Sheamus vs. Christian

Sheamus will probably be the next guy challenging Henry for the title, so I see him winning.

Divas Champion Beth Phoenix vs. Eve

Beth will keep on winning until Awesome Kong returns.

WWE Tag Team Champions Kofi Kingston & Evan Bourne (Air Boom) vs. Jack Swagger and Dolph Ziggler

The faces will win this match.

WWE Champion Alberto del Rio vs. John Cena (Last Man Standing Match)

Got ADR to win this one as I've heard that WWE want to distance Cena away from the title picture so they can focus on the Rock vs Cena feud.

World Heavyweight Champion Mark Henry vs. Big Show

Mark Henry to win this, not enough build up on Show's part.

Triple H & CM Punk vs. The Miz & R Truth (Awesome Truth)

Tough to call, but I say Awesome Truth due to some probable interference from Kevin Nash.

United States Champion Dolph Ziggler vs. Zack Ryder

Ryder. That is all.

Woo woo woo, you know it.

Randy Orton vs. Intercontinental Champion Cody Rhodes

Rhodes, I can't see Orton ever holding a mid-card title.

Sheamus vs. Christian

Sheamus, Christian is just terrible.

Divas Champion Beth Phoenix vs. Eve

Beth because I don't see her losing the belt this quickly.

WWE Tag Team Champions Kofi Kingston & Evan Bourne (Air Boom) vs. Jack Swagger and Dolph Ziggler

I've got Swagger and Dolph to win this, purely for the fact that Dolph is dropping his title to Ryder, but I don't see him being title-less.

Didn't see Vengeance (like I imagine most of the world didn't). Do have some thoughts based on what I read:

Tag title match I have no issue with the result. I like the idea of building AirBoom as a legit team, and it's pretty obvious I think they won't be upended as champs until True Awesome (my name, steal if you like) is ready to get in a program with them (so I'm thinking December). Plus, I'd like to see Ziggler actually defending the title he has more, or hell just throw the thing in a trash can already and let's have done with it.

Didn't like what we saw in the US title match. I was fine with the interference aspect, but Ryder is super over, you shouldn't have a super over babyface getting beaten by an exhausted heel. Not a good way to keep him super over. The company should get over whatever butt hurt they have that they didn't "make" Ryder and just give the fans what they want already. It's not like the US title really means anything anyway. What's the harm in putting it on the guy? Or hell, retire it and let him defend that Internet Championship like Dibiase used to defend the Million Dollar Championship.

Shaemus beats Christian. Good result, good idea. I like Christian, I do. But if all he can aspire to is being a gate keeper for guys like Shaemus to jump to the next level, bless him for doing his job and doing it well.

Orton vs. Rhodes. My first "what...the....FUCK?!" moment of the night. Orton should not be beating Rhodes, not this early. The point is to establish Rhodes. If the idea was Orton beats him and then Rhodes just leaves him for dead tomorrow or Friday, ok, I can live with this a little better. Since theoretically it creates a situation where nobody is talking about Orton beating him, but they'll be talking about the heinous beating Rhodes laid on him. This underscores the bigger problem WWE has with booking heels these days. They are so afraid of a guy having "too much heat" that they put the babyface over them too quickly and kill the heel's heat. Orton is made, Rhodes is on his way up, PUT RHODES OVER ORTON!!! Orton doesn't need to be going over, especially not this early in the feud.

Henry vs. Show was a great finish to a match where frankly nobody expected anything memorable. It also let's them prolong the feud a little bit, and I don't think that's a bad idea since it seems more and more like Sheamus is waiting at WM or some other major show down the road.

Del Rio vs. Cena was good because it accomplished the goal it should. Keep the belt on Del Rio, set up the SS bout, and start getting Cena into whatever holding pattern stuff he'll do as they start to really kick the build to Rock into gear for Mania and the title contender slot goes to a much more deserving personality.

I missed most of Vengeance, though when I saw the ring the first thing I thought was "Henry and Big Show".

So, this was kind of inevitable. Although, i'm really stoked that it's going down.

While it doesn't make sense it's at least somewhat exciting. At this point as long as Rock is going to be in the ring I don't mind too much. It puts Miz and Truth in a high profile match and lets Cena and Rock play off each other some more. I'm sure they are going to be trading insults the entire time too.

Oh hey, they have Barrett winning now. And Morrison continues to be buried.

A Cole challenge huh? I guess they still haven't figured out that we want action between the wrestlers (despite not being called that) and not the announcers.

I'd rather they have Ryder be in the mix for the U.S. title than Mason Ryan. Ryan hasn't impressed be enough yet to make me want to watch.

Nash/HHH on PPV... *Insert Nash injury joke here*

Who is John Laurinaitis?

I started to question this right when I saw him. Then I started hearing people refer to him as "Ace." Why? Well I looked up some info which has probably already been posted. He was a wrestler and a damn good one to. He went by the name of Johnny Ace, and innovated wrestling by creating the cutter move which he named the "Ace Crusher." I mean it's crazy.

Here's a match for you...

John Laurinaitis vs. The Undertaker - Part 1
John Laurinaitis vs. The Undertaker - Part 2

No I'm not kidding. However John Laurinaitis was known as "Johnny Ace" while The Undertaker's character had yet been created so he was known as "Mean Mark" and was managed by Theodore Long.

Also John had a brother by the name of Joe Laurinaitis who was known by his in ring name "Road Warrior Animal" and was part of one of the most successful tag teams "The Road Warriors" also known as "The Legion of Doom" in later years.

Food for thought.

Response to The Wrestling (WWE) Club 2011-10-26 03:37:28

Johnny Ace was NOT a great wrestler. The "Ace Crusher" is not exactly that hard of a move, and if he hadn't invented it, somebody else might have (not like it takes a ton of skill to do). Ace's most notable accomplishment that I can find is booking for a number of years with All Japan Pro Wrestling. Otherwise he was pretty unremarkable and probably his biggest claim to fame is as one half of the "Dynamic Dudes" with Shane Douglas (look them up and you'll understand why Punk and Cena keep making all those skateboard jokes).

So Laryngitis is Animal's brother.....that would explain how he got his foot in the door......

In speaking of him, as shit continues to go forward, his gaining of the GM position continues to make less & less sense. Whatever. At least Punk makes it worthwhile.

Huh, that's the 2nd time a match with Show made the ring implode. Only this time, it was quite a bit cooler, considering how much bigger Henry is than Lesnar, thus making it look even more destructive. Curious to see what happens tomorrow.

CENA ACTUALLY LOST A LAST MAN STANDING MATCH. One shouldn't care WHY he lost it; this is the match that he's been notorius for never losing.

Nash was indeed a tad scary with the sledge. Reagrdless of his in-ring ability (or lack thereof) or his fake knees, he's pretty damn good on the acting end of it.

Wait, does this 'challenge' hint that Cole's retiring, or is he just leaving RAW? Would explain the rumor of Mick Foley returning to that position (which I'm all for).

Oh, before I forget......sooooooo, when were you guys planning to mention that ROH has been televised for a while now? I just happened to stumble upon it in the TV Guide; ironic that it's on My Network TV.

It's weird hearing Jay Lethal speak normally after being so used to the Macho Man voice all that time.....

If anything, i'd assume that either JR or Lawler are retiring here soon, considering Lawler's been on commentary since the 90s.

He basically took Vince McMahons old role of down the line color commentating, while Cole filled Lawler's old shoes of being a cocksucking heel commentator.
