The Wrestling Observer is reporting that the reason why Kofi Kingston is getting such a big push right now is because WWE officials feel that the company needs an African-American baby face towards the top of the card. After several other talents that were selected for the spot didn't work out the way the company had hoped, the decision was made to give Kingston the big push.

It's also being reported that Jack Swagger's push has been slowed down, and possibly even halted, as WWE officials feel that he is not panning out the way the company had hoped.

As far as Sheamus and Drew McIntyre are concerned, they are getting their respective pushes right now because Sheamus is the work out partner of Triple H, and McIntyre is well liked by both Triple H and Shawn Michaels.

Poor Festus. Did anyone else notice how Punk was...stroking him like a dog? *shudder* I think he needs some therapy or something. He has to get his "rubbing anything and everything" problem checked out.
Anyway, Dr. Evil finally gets to take over the universe...the WWE Universe. I wonder if he'll have
Mr. Bigglesworth with him. :)

So it's true, then. Let's hope they don't blow it, because it's not every time a talent can get lucky making friends with the top 2 superstars of the business.

I'm a big fan of old school WWE, but their product now is trash... I am huge on independent promotions like ROH and Chikara, but I am a fan of old 80's 90's WWF

I was hoping it was more about his obvious talent and abilities. Personally I hate pushing a guy based on his race, but I do think Kofi has the goods so I guess I should just be happy that they picked up on it and decided to go run with him no matter what the reason is.

It's also being reported that Jack Swagger's push has been slowed down, and possibly even halted, as WWE officials feel that he is not panning out the way the company had hoped.

I think this is completely a case of a guy coming out of the blocks very impressive and WWE then shoving him on RAW instead of leaving him on ECW or shipping him to SD! and then they had no plan for him. Swagger has simply been floating around on RAW with no clear direction or momentum of late and this to me is more the fault of WWE then of Swagger. Maybe they need to set up a trade or get him on the list of guys to change brands in the draft. Nobody should be on Monday Nights really unless you have some idea of what you'll do with them, especially if they're a new guy looking to be established.

As far as Sheamus and Drew McIntyre are concerned, they are getting their respective pushes right now because Sheamus is the work out partner of Triple H, and McIntyre is well liked by both Triple H and Shawn Michaels.

McIntyre and Sheamus have the potential. Honestly, I'm not understanding why you guys are so pissed that they're getting the opportunities they are. Isn't this what we've been bitching at them to do for years now? Push some young talents? Get behind some new faces and run with them? I get that Sheamus may be getting a little too much too quick but considering it's a tables match it allows them to really go all out and push the idea that Cena will have to damn near kill him and himself to beat this guy. Also no pinfall or submission needed.

I'm not pissed about it, just in agreement that for someone so new to the company gets a world title shot in the main event seems too soon. However, I'm all for a change in the main event picture and seeing new talent given a try. I have no doubt that Cena will win but he can really help to establish Sheamus as a true threat and can ultimatly get him over.

As far as Kingston goes.. Yeah I think pushing a guy based on race is a stupid thing but at least they picked the right guy to do it.

I'm not looking forward to tonight.. I know that damn court segment will be drawn out and unfunny. I just hope the matches make up for it.

source: PWInsider.com

Sources say that WWE may be implementing some major changes to regarding the ECW brand. Apparently the letters "ECW" may be gone soon.

WWE has been in talks with the SyFy network about the future of the ECW brand. WWE is planning a major re-branding and word is that WWE will still keep the 10pm time slot and may introduce a new TV show similar to WWE Superstars on WGN America.

I kinda hope this follows through
the ECW name has been more than soiled the past 3 years.. even if they just changed the name I'd be satisfied.

My problem isn't with them getting the opportunities, it's HOW they got them. And not so much with Mcintyre, either - he's actually been around longer overall than Sheamus (granted, he left & then came back later, but he's still been there longer). I know Sheamus was on ECW for a little while, but still.....

My point is, it just proves that, if you're a newer talent, you HAVE to be friends with the top stars to get noticed - not that good a message. Granted, you don't want to be HATED, but not necessarily make yourself look like you're sucking up to them, either. (Not saying that they actually are, but some people could percieve it that way.)

As sad as it is, it needs to be done. This ECW isn't really ECW anyway.

I get the issue, and certainly that kind of big push out of the blocks thing has bitten them in the past. But as I see it we're hitting a point or right now we are at the point, where they just need to get new talent made. H, Michaels, and Taker are frankly all on a count down to the end...even if the end is three or more years down the line, I doubt it's more then 5. They want another boom period? They want to really start making some money? Gotta try that new talent now and see who can break out for them. So far that hasn't been happening, a lot of that is them, some of that is the guys themselves. I'm fine with them getting behind Sheamus and seeing what they have with him. Give him every opportunity to succeed and if he doesn't? Then it's on his pale ass and you move on to the next experiment.

As far as Kingston goes.. Yeah I think pushing a guy based on race is a stupid thing but at least they picked the right guy to do it.

Agreed 100%

I taped Pawn Stars instead...I've basically given up on RAW anymore unless maybe a former wrestler is hosting it.

Triple said that Chris Jericho is boring...
Yeah, cause Triple H's feud with Orton was so exciting.. even more exciting was his feud with Cena..

Also seeing Carlito showing up was a bit of a surprise.. I haven't been surprised like that in a while.
But he came out only to receive an FU from Cena.. seriously draft him to ECW.

That top rope DDT looked sick. I'll give Orton credit, he does that move well.

Verne Troyer is going to be ok. His hands are like that due to his physical condition and if you were only 2ft. wouldn't you want a scooter to keep up with everybody? I checked his wikipedia page and it says he has done a lot of work as a stuntman. He might be haveing some issues that his page doesn't mention though so I can't say for certain that nothing is wrong with him.

And then there was the night he beat H for the belt but they had crooked Earl Hebner reverse it and never really let Jericho get near the title again for almost another year. Personally I still feel they missed an opportunity there. I could have understood the "let's let him think he got to the top, just to screw him" thing if it was going to lead to some kind of feud where that would be the theme until he DID actually get that win and it couldn't be disputed...but basically it wound up being the backdrop to a totally forgettable angle over referees feeling disrespected and abused.

WWE did make up for that by having Jericho be the first undisputed champion. Course then they dropped the ball on that. I'm just glad that they have finally given Jericho a true chance to shine and has become one of their top heels.

I think Shelton Benjamin is going to be the one to take the title from Christian. They are sure to have a good match at TLC and this will allow Christian to move on once he drops the title. I think the best place to send him would be SD. That way, when Edge comes back there can be a possible E&C reunion. That would rock.

I wonder if it even matters since all the talk within WWE right now is if they can convince ScyFy to renew the show, it won't be ECW anymore and they seem to be leaning towards totally untested talents being focused upon as the thrust of it. Should all that happens it sure makes booking this match seem a very curious decision for the PPV, but I guess they'd still wrap up the brand and the belt at the end of the month regardless of who comes out as champion.

RIP Eddie Fatu. I feel we never got to see the extent of what Umaga could've been in the WWE, and now we never will.

The worst part about being a wrestling fan are the unnatural amount of tragedies that occur. Is it naive to hope this wasn't a drug related death?

Only if you don't think it was. Given his history and what I feel we're going to find out after toxicology and what not comes back, I can't help but feel much more then a great amount of anger at Eddie Fatu. Anger first and foremost at what his decisions have done to his family and to his friends. Secondly anger at what he's done to his fans and the tremendous and stupid waste this was.

I'd love to be proven wrong but you know what? Guy got released on strike 2 because he wouldn't take rehab...now he's dead. Does it take a rocket scientist to figure out what happened? If he wouldn't have made these bad decisions he'd still be alive, he'd still be on the WWE roster and I believe he'd be in the spot Sheamus is in right now, challenging for the belt and probably winning it, if he hadn't done so already. His family could be celebrating his accomplishment vs. having to say goodbye and burying him. What a terrible and wasteful shame this is.

Reguardless of the circumstance, R.I.P. Eddie Fatu. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.

So if Festus or whatever his name is now was in a drug stupor, and he blames family and friends for not helping and even making it worse... Does that mean Jessie was his pusher?

I have to admit, Drew is better than I thought. His match with Morrison was top notch.

I'm glad McIntyre's proving himself in the ring; if he's going to get a push like he has, he needs to be worth said push. That match with Morrison was a very good start.

Having been only 36 (younger than Eddie Guererro was by 2 years), and by avie's post, I'd say yes, sadly.

Please, WWE, don't overdo this if you plan on having Punk make a comment on this, I BEG YOU.

It'd be a logical way to go. That one time when they were together, 'Festus' was supposed to undergo treatment, but he was still the same when he 'returned' from it.

From what I understand, Rey is basically gambling to get the big PPV paydays and then get the surgery after. It's a pretty dumb move considering the permanent damage he could do to himself, but given this is like the 15th time he's been out, and the problems with his suspension...maybe he thinks the writing might be on the wall or rapidly getting there.

I'm glad McIntyre's proving himself in the ring; if he's going to get a push like he has, he needs to be worth said push. That match with Morrison was a very good start.

I agree, and this to me points out again what WWE can do when they actually get behind a young talent and allow him to show his stuff. I don't think anybody is advocating the idea of "push young talents right now just cause they're young and have them kill the veterans" but honestly? You got some promising guys on that roster and you can't tell me the office can't find more guys like McIntyre that they could be like "I like this one, let's really give him a shot and see what he can do". The company is in the doldrums right now, it's time to start experimenting and if the experiments fail you pull the plug and move on.

Is it just me (and probably Maraquan), or were some of those moments between Punk & Gallows rather creepy? I swear, I saw Punk kiss Gallows' bald head......... o_O

I really hope this leads to Punk forming some kind of stable with one or two more underused talents he can "convert" to his cause. Punk works very well in that sort of a role much like Raven did in ECW, and when it ultimately breaks up it can give the guys a good foil to turn babyface on. Can't be worse then Legacy....

DAMN.......Taker's been getting pwned...... >_< *gets shot by avie*

It's just logical. If Taker is built in these situations as an unstoppable monster then where is the need to buy it? If Taker was the heel champion it would make sense...but he's the face. I'm supposed to feel like Batista or any challenger has a chance at beating him, so I got no issue with the booking so far. I will have an issue if it's Batista who takes the belt though...I'd rather see Taker dropping it at the Rumble or No Way Out to somebody like Punk or another guy who needs the belt to "break through". I've heard some rumblings of what the Taker Mania plan is...and it excites me, but I think it's a waste of a title match if you give Taker the opponent they're thinking of giving him. That will draw all by itself.

Damn..........I hate seeing crap like this......

I had to break it to my friend Jason today. He has no internet, but at least I'm doing ok so that when I mentioned my upcoming surgery to him that went over ok, but yeah, not fun to tell him somebody I do believe he had dealings with, and worked with many years ago as he went through his Uncle Afa's promotion has passed away so young. Again, it's so frustrating to see these guys making such terrible personal decisions and not taking into account what they might be doing to those they leave behind.

Please, WWE, don't overdo this if you plan on having Punk make a comment on this, I BEG YOU.

I see no reason for Punk to comment on this because a) can't prove it's drug related just yet and b) it'd be absolutely classless. With Jeff you could make the point that they invested in him and he potentially burned them and the best thing they could do was condemn him at the time and move away from him. The Eddie Fatu situation doesn't compare and I would be personally very upset with all involved if anything is mentioned beyond a nice little tribute.

Where is Jesse/Slam Master J, anyway? He's vanished...

Hence why I said he should be pushing for anything he can to get some TV time. I think he's a victim of Cryme Tyme falling out of favor thanks to Shad's "illness" a few weeks back.
