Raw was pretty good last night. I wasn't too thrilled with the last match's result since neither Batista or Cena really needed to be tag champs, but I understand the reasoning behind it. two guys who are going to face each oher end up getting teh tag titles and must be a team. It's been done before so I know the routine.
It's stupid, it's been done 10 million times and they've gone back to that well yet again because they've booked a dream match and only have three weeks to build it. We're sliding back into that pre-draft pattern again where it's "push all the established guys hard, and the new guys exist to just be their stepping stones". Rhodes and Dibiase Jr. were getting over and hey! They actually WANTED to be the tag champions! Guess that just wasn't important enough to WWE.
Still we had some very competitive matches too. Like the IC title match between Kofi and Burchill. Good stuff right there. The CM Punk match was also interesting. Damn I hate JBL.
The Punk match was a case of good work, goofy bullshit ending. Also, Punk got very little offense in there too. JBL is crap, he's already beaten JBL once, so where the hell is the intrigue in another one on one match? They are really started to book Punk right into "unworthy champion" oblivion here. You want a loaded show? You want him to succeed? Then Jericho should have won, or at the very least, it should have been a triple threat. Logically with that little an amount of time left anyway, Jericho should have just climbed back in, smacked JBL around and stopped him from covering Punk and then he could have gotten into the SS match. Stupid, stupid booking, and there was a lot of that all night. The work was good, but the booking was pretty freakin bad.
I'm hoping this is a fluke, but considering we're headed towards a big PPV that WWE wants a big return on, it pretty much tells me that they think it's fine to try and build new talents for the B-shows, but when the A-shows happen, they'll just be shoved to the side and then they'll sit there and wonder why they can't establish them.
