So... what are the odds WWE just used Punk to transition the title, and JBL'll end up with it?

I see a heel story coming, with Raw and SD "flip flopping," with the main guy on SD being a face now (Triple), and the main guy on Raw being a heel (JBL).

Yay for "Martial Law" ... fucking eh.

Raw was pretty good tonight. It started off with one hell of a suprise, and the Jericho/Kofi match was awesome.

I'm suprised WWE made this move so soon. I thought they would milk it for a bit, maybe even try to get a GM or something. All I know is that Edge is going to be in one foul mood, which might bring out his true character and feelings towards Viki. He may just up and admit he was using her to get power, though I don't think they will go that rout since that would be dumb on Edge's part. You don't piss off the GM, or in this case break her heart.

Cena joining forces with Cryme Time was a bit odd, but hey it works for me. Yay for JBL not winning!

Its about time someone with talent other than Edge wins a world title!

Night of champions thoughts:

WWE tag team championship: Good idea for them to retain. As impressive hornswoggle is for his size he should never win a title (EVER).

United States championship: Bullshit that matt hardy is US champion. He deserves way more than that.

ECW Championship: Mark Henry deserves a title after all of those years of nothing.

World Tag Team championship: Stupid as hell. I was expecting some new impressive 2nd generation super star (perhaps joe hennig mr.perfects son). But I had a hunch this would happen.

Intercontinental title: Kofi Kingston is a hell of a performer and finally gets some intercontinental gold. Y2J didnt need it anyways.

Womens Title: I couldnt give a flying shit

World Heavyweight title: I never want to see batista touch that belt again! Im getting sick of the exploitation of eddie guerrero.

WWE championship: John Cena sucks and thank god he lost. ALthough Triple H is getting boring

again congrats to CM Punk

God damn the indians suck

Need it be said? WWE did a fantastic job tonight. They pulled the legit and logical surprise of CM Punk taking advantage of Edge to win the belt. Punk did a great job of making his win sound important in his promo because well, it sure seemed to me like he was shooting there, especially when he mentioned his best friend Chez. I went out after that, and feared like everyone else that he would wind up being transitional to JBL, thank god when I came home I read that didn't happen. Cena endorsing Punk was an excellent move here, Cena is the guy they recognize as top face, and it's smart to have him put Punk over. The entire night they made it a big deal that Punk became champ, and they should. I would have liked Punk to crush JBL personally, but I still think the finish they did was perfectly fine, if they want to position JBL as top heel on RAW now and feud with Punk, there has to be a sliver of doubt I guess. Least Punk beat him clean and convincingly and got to be in a brawl situation where he looked like a main eventer.

Only time will tell if this is the beginning of Punk's much deserved elevation, but for at least tonight, they made Punk a main event level talent, and they did a fantastic job of it.

I missed RAW last night, did Kane get a fight?

Response to The Wrestling (WWE) Club 2008-07-01 04:40:40

RAW was wonderful this week. For the first time in a long time, I was actually watching the show the entire time, rather than spending the majority of it websurfing with my back turned to the television and just listening in...

About damn time CM Punk hits it big, and hopefully he'll have a substantial reign. I can't wait to see what Edge does on Smackdown...go after Triple H? Try some of mindless vengeance on Punk and/or Batista, even though they're no longer on the same brand? Turn on Vicky? Hell, be turned on BY Vicky?

I haven't been this excited or in suspense about anything in wrestling for years. Good job, WWE. :-D

Punk winning the title more than makes up for the lack of matches last night. I think there were like 5 of them, and two were super short.

WWE did an awesome job, one that we are all still buzzing over. I'm looking forward to see what Edge does on SD.

Oh man, was it a surprise having CM Punk cash in his MITB last night and winning the World Heavyweight title! I'm still in shock. But I gotta admit, I always wanted the WHC to stay on Smackdown. Oh well. At least Edge isn't holding that thing anymore.

Cryme Tyme and Cena taking out JBL's security, I think, was the best part. Now that Vince is out, we;re going to be seeing JBL take over just because he's rich. Meh. Well, There's still 3 people he's gotta look out for: Punk, Cena, and Batista. They're all going to be in the title picture, and I'm hoping they get in a Fatal-4-Way sometime.

Response to The Wrestling (WWE) Club 2008-07-01 13:52:00

Don't break up Vickie and Edge!!! Before last night, they were the brightest ray of sunshine in my wrestling world!!!!

Still bright, just not as bright, pepsi all around!!! Also, Punk is heavily featured on the GAB poster, so it sure looks like WWE has had plans to elevate him for a little while now, which is encouraging. My biggest fear going forward is that they put Punk over huge for one show to follow up the draft and then next week there will be no plan, no push, no giving a damn, and he'll be a champ in the vein of Jericho or Mysterio before him. Those guys deserved better, and Punk definitely does. If you want a future, you have to build it, WWE really showed some commitment to that last night (well, not as much with Kofi, but moving him away from Jericho and Michaels's existing issue should help that). They need to keep it up, or everything they've done these last two weeks will be all for naught.

I missed ECW last night but I read the results. Doesn't seem like it was the best show they ever did, but I saw they debuted someone new. I'm not sure who Atlas Ortiz is, but I'm good with new talent showing up here and there.

ECW was pretty lame. I mean seriously, we all knew Colin Delaney couldn't beat Mark Henry. But the new guy I'm starting to like. He may have an afro, but his entrance music is cool. But I was glad to see Matt Hardy, Finlay & Hornswaggle take out Morrison, the Miz and Chavo. Morrison & The Miz just get lucky during important matches.

Overall, I'd give it a 2-star rating.

Response to The Wrestling (WWE) Club 2008-07-02 10:39:31

ECW sure has a lot of gold on its show. The main title, the US title and the WWE Tag Team titles. I wonder if SD will get any of that back once they move ECW over to the Raw brand and scheduel. What teams on SD could beat Miz and Morrison? Festus and Jesse maybe? The Edgeheads? Or wil they give it to Yang and Moore? Tough to call.

I think if they have just the two singles titles on ECW it could work out. Having three titles on a one hour show is just not going to work.

I'll watch ECW later tonight, but in regards to them having all the gold, it really dosen't seem like the way to go. I was happy with them having there main belt, and the tag belts, which SD! superstars could still wrestle for. Giving them the US belt leaves a big chuck on the Smackdown roster without a belt to challege for. Off the top of my head (and the Wikipedia roster list);

Benjamin, Show, Carlito, Hardy, Kozlov, Kennedy, MVP and Umaga.

I'm aware that several of them could well be main event stars pretty soon, but some of them need a second tier belt to go after first. Giving it to ECW (which already has a fairly limited roster) makes no sense to me at all.

First, thanks for the triple post. It is appreciated.

But in any case, Punk coming out of nowhere and snagging the title was a pretty clever move on WWE's part... Now maybe some complications will (finally) arise in La Familia, with Edge knowing there's nothing he can do to get his precious title back. And with Triple H being possibly WWE's biggest face right now, not to mention him being on the writing staff, I doubt he'll be losing his title any time soon.

I just wonder what kind of shenanigans are gonna go down during Edge and Vickie's "wedding," or if the wedding will even take place now.

This has got to be the first time I've been really interested in what's going on in the WWE and their storylines. Hooray.

I too have to wonder what they'll do with the title situation on ECW. They're pushing SD! hard right now, and it doesn't make sense to me that they'd leave two SD! titles on ECW. I'd look for those belts to either transition off, or ECW wrestlers to be competing on SD! regularly like they have been to defend 'em.

There's also talk of live SD!'s soon, and if they do that, the impetus to move ECW may be lessened, and they could just stay with SD! and the title situation wouldn't be so murky.

That may be for the best. Its a shame that Raw ditched Heat, but maybe if they decide to leave ECW where it is, they will bring it back. Heat may seem unimportant, but it gave the people on the bottom some time to work.

Glad to see you here! You'll have a lot of fun, especially with predictions. And yeah, I saw ECW last night, and I was glad as hell to see Hornswoggle, Finlay and Matt Hardy kick the shit out of Chavo, Morrison and the Miz last night. My man, Matt Hardy won, especially on the first night that I watched him in a match on ECW. It was one hell of a match, too! Comments?

It wuz kewl when Colin Delany triewd to help Tommy Dreamer, but got destroyed. Also, TNA is on later tonight. My only problem with TNA is that half of the roster is made up of old WWE superstars. What's up with that?.

WWE.com announced that they have released Trevor Murdoch today. Murdoch had held the WWE Tag Team Championship on three occasions.

Murdoch had just been drafted to Smackdown! last week as part of the WWE Draft. He had been wrestling as a member of the WWE roster since 2005.

After being drafted away from his tag team partner on Smackdown, it is being said that Clifford Compton, aka Domino, may not last long in WWE. With the release of Trevor Murdoch earlier today, it seems more likely than not that WWE might be doing away with who they feel is the weaker of 2 tag team partners.

Both are from wrestlezone.com.

Heat was unimportant really. They could easily take the guys on that show who were good workers and slot them onto ECW to work with the younger talents. The bottom line is that WWE shouldn't pay money to put on a show that has very little if any, benefit to them in the grand scheme of things.

Speaking of WWE cutting money and time, Trevor Murdoch got released.

I just know this has gotta be a sad sad story.
