ECW the other night was an example of what ECW should be like week in week out. Every match dosen't have to be extreme rules, but throw one in there every two weeks or so, get some half-decent fueds and storylines going and you'll have a show that people other than only the most hardcore of wrestling fans are going to watch.
First match, Dreamer/Knox in an extreme rules match. Good. First time i've heard the fans chanting ECW in a long, long time. Shades of the old ECW, although obviously not as extreme. Still, it showed diversity from the other brands. For me it's a good selling points. "Watch us, we put hardcore matches on (which we know 99% of you love) whereas the other two brands don't".
Next up, Koffi/Striker. Keep Koffi strong by having him defeat Striker in quick time, he's definatley one for the future (if ECW has a future). Then bring in Shelton, suprise attack, bang, good fued. Keep that going, put 'em in an extreme rules match. Maybe give Koffi his first loss because of Sheltons heavy use of weapons. Fued can continue. Koffi out for revenge (in the good guy way), cocky Shelton bragging, etc, etc.
Then, Delaney/Armado. Felt they could have kept this match going a little longer. Have the GM really lay into Colin and eventually he gets the sneaky roll up. Over too fast for me. Still, maybe Colin can actually start doing something now he has a contract. Maybe give the kid some music and a few moves as well.
Finally, a decent tag team match. Punk and Kane work well together, and it keeps the Chavo angle going. Show ends with a Punk-Kane/Morrison-Miz stand off. Another possible fued that could really work. Hell you could even throw Chavo and Bam in there if you wanted. Three teams fighting for the tag belts, as well as the fact that Punk, Chavo, Miz and Morrison all have there eyes on Kanes belt. Not to mention Punk's briefcase, possibly causing tension between Punk and Kane.
In my opinion, the WWE has the chance for three good fueds on ECW, two of which there starting to get underway. They can put on some good matches, espesially if they use the extreme rules a little more often, and actually start to make something of the brand.
