Not if what Cole and Coachman were saying was true. They said that if Batista won, then he would face Edge on Sunday, rather than HBK. Not that anyone expected Batista to win, but I still think it belittles the revenge fueled reasons for the match.
Also, I think Cole and Coachman have realised that the most entertaining thing that they can do is to take the piss out of each other. Though I would like MVP to be on commentary more often.

which means, shawn will be involved in a worldchampion match in the future.,

Honestly, the Batista/HBK feud has been scizophrenic as hell. It started as "you put Ric out" then it quickly became "I don't like how you manipulated your way to the top" there hasn't been a clear reason for Batista to be after Michaels, as for Michaels? Easiest reason in the world: This guy is in my face, I'm gonna whoop his ass.

I like your idea of Taker/Umaga. Umaga really hasn't been doing anything lately, which is a shame. I agree that him and Taker could put on some great matches. I'd also like to throw Show's name out there. He to could have some great matches with either man (and has done in the past with Taker). I don't think we've seen Show/Umaga yet have we?

I also like your idea of Taker and Umaga. It would be an interesting fued, one in which Umaga may be put back into main event status. I don't think he'd win the title, but he would be a very different monster for Taker to beat.

My Backlash prediction:
1. Randy Orton def Cena, HHH and JBL.
All JBL has done so far is beating Finlay in a street fight match, so he should be out of the equation early and fast. I dare Vince to give the title to Cena two plus months after his return, so Cena is gone as well. What the WWE is doing right now with the fatal four way match is to lead our fans to the inevitable Orton Vs HHH showdown at Summer Slam. With that being said, Orton must retain tonight and HHH must be booked strong during the process. So I can HHH getting screwed in the end after at least one elimination. (i.e: Orton using ropes, roll up...)
2. HBK vs Batista ends in a no contest.
So far, Y2J has received a SCM super kick and a Batista bomb. I see him getting the scores even tonight and cause a no contest.
3. Kane def Chavo
There is no way Kane is going to lose tonight given that he has been the champion for only 4 weeks. Like someone said already, does anyone see Chavo as a threat? I do not.
4. Undertaker def Edge
The result here is obvious. But does anyone here see Edge turning on Vickie after the loss? After all, Vickie is just a stepping stone for Edge.
5. Matt Hardy def MVP (DQ or countout)
There is no way that MVP is winning this one. But I would like the feud to continue with Matt chasing the title. So yea, Matt wins via DQ or countout tonight.
6. Big Show def Khali
Khali for one cannot wrestle. Secondly and most importantly, he is going back to India. So Big Show will pick up his first PPV victory tonight since his return.
7. Beth's team def Mickie's team
Personally, I would like to see Natalia picking up the win tonight to further establish herself as a contender.
Thoughts?

Breaking news: Matt Hardy is the new U.S champion!

HHH is the new WWE champion.
I am surprised about the result, but not that surprised. You see, one week before the PPV, the match suddenly changed from a fatal four way match to a fatal four way ELIMINATION match. The official website of the WWE had no explanation for that change. But what obviously happened was that Orton was booked to win originally, then HHH (who has not been the champion for two years barring the two hour reign) used his backstage policy to alter the decision. As the result, the company changed the match to an elimination match in favour of HHH. That was exactly what happened.

Or maybe WWE just decided to go back to the safety of an H title run because Orton on top wasn't really doing great business for them. Or maybe they put it on H because they intend to have Punk be yet another MITB winner that cashes in and wins. The conspiracy bullshit is only one theory here, and if H was gonna politic, why the fuck wouldn't he have had it put on him at Mania? Or SS? Why do it on a secondary show? Unless, gasp, he was actually thinking about the company and figuring that something like that would send the message that even B shows are important!

H has done some fucky things, but the hate you have is getting really irrational now dude.

How does an elimination match favour HHH? Maybe if he'd have eliminated all the other superstars, then it would support your theory, but Cena, Orton and Triple H all got one elimination each.
Anyway, happy days that Snoreton is no longer the champ. At least H can captivate the audience.

I still don't believe it. He's gotten so close in his past, and now it's finally done. I'm so glad Orton is done, I can't stand that little prick.

so here is the results and what i thouht of Backlash 2008

Match (overall 8/10)
WWE United States Heavyweight Championship
Matt Hardy vs MVP

It wasn't a great match, but it was a good match. Seeing Matt Hardy finally being rewarded helped to increase the overall rating for this match.

Had this match been done during the peak of their rivalry, the ratings would have been much higher thanks to the buildup. It could have been a classic if the match was a ladder match.

Winner: Matt Hardy

Match (overall 7/10)
ECW Heavyweight Championship
Kane vs Chavo Guerrero

Chavo Guerrero did a tremendous job in this match. He did a lot of the selling to make Kane look legitimately dominating. Not too many people give Chavo Guerrero credit for understanding ring psychology.

Bam Neely's interference was a nice touch in that it made it seem like a title change was going to take place.

Winner: Kane

Match (overall 7/10 )
Big Show vs Great Khali

A lot of people were predicting that this match was going to be short and ugly, but it wasn't.

Great work by the Big Show in carrying this match. He actually did quite a bit of work to make the Great Khali look like a competent wrestler. Plus, it's nice to see the big guy not totally demolishing the Great Khali and ruining his momentum.

Big Show gets the win with a nice choke slam to the Great Khali, who actually jumped a bit to sell the move.

The audience absolutely hated this match. They kept chanting various negative things throughout the entire segment.

Winner: Big Show

Match (overall 9/10 )
Shawn Michaels vs Batista

As expected, this was a pretty good match. The addition of Chris Jericho as a special guest referee ended up being a nice touch. He didn't really affect the match too much. He was basically a decoy to make the match a bit more unpredictable.

Pretty surprised that Shawn Michaels picked up the clean win here. Didn't think they were going to do that to Batista.

Winner: Shawn Michaels

Match (overall 5/10 )
Beth, Layla, Melina, Jillian, Natalya, Victoria vs Maria, Ashley, Mickie, Cherry, Kelly, Michelle

Nothing special about this match. WWE basically wanted to include every single diva on the roster.

Beth Phoenix picks up the pin over Ashley Massaro. I'm guessing that was done to give her back some momentum.

Winnners: Beth, Layla, Melina, Jillian, Natayla, Victoria

Match (overall 8/10 )
World Heavyweight Championship
Undertaker vs Edge

Very good match that was slightly a notch under their Wrestlemania 24 match. Of course, that one had more hype since it wasn't a rematch.

Nice touch having some minor outside interference to get the audience to believe that the Undertaker was going to lose the World Heavyweight Championship back to Edge.

The finish saw a nice series of counter that led to the Undertaker trapping Edge into his submission move. Edge taps out, but the Undertaker keeps the hold on for a moment longer.

Winner: Undertaker

Match (overall 8/10)
WWE Heavyweight Championship
JBL vs Randy Orton vs Triple H vs John Cena

Pretty good match. Not so sure if it was as good as the triple threat match at Wrestlemania 24, though.

Very entertaining segment towards the beginning. John Cena had Randy Orton in the STFU, so JBL goes over to mock the champion. He gets hit from behind, and Triple H locks him into the Crippler Crossface.

JBL gets eliminated first as he taps out to the STFU. John Cena is immediately eliminated by Randy Orton's kick to the head.

Afterwards, Randy Orton and Triple H were given plenty of time to work. Not the smartest thing to do with Randy Orton since he lacks creativity in the ring.

Nice series of reversals involving both guys' finishing maneuver. Triple H gets the final reversal for the win.

Winner: Triple H

Final Analysis Ratings
The hype for the show helped out tremendously as the matches weren't exactly spectacular. Overall, it was a very entertaining pay per view. 8/10

Interesting Backlash, some suprising results.

I hope they keep Hardy/MVP going a little longer, MVP with the rematch claus and what not. There both good wrestlers i enjoy seeing against each other (note here, against each other wrestling. No more basketball games please).

Kane with the obvious win, although i was suprised Chavo's bodyguard didn't get more involved. Anyone have any ideas on where Kanes going from here though. He could do with a new challenge but i don't see anyone on the ECW roster. Would love to see Kane and Dreamer go at it though.

I thought Big Show did fantastic, carrying Khali through the entire match. An excellent chokeslam as well. Always been a fan of Paul, and I hope WWE have some big plans for him. Khali will hopefully be in India for many months to come.

Michaels/Batista, did Michaels legitamatley hurt himself? Thought he was gonna land on his feat after the failed batista bomb and superkick Dave, but he just seemed to hide in the corner for five minutes afterwards. Nice match regardless, Michaels/HHH fued would be welcomed.

Womens match, skipped.

Undertaker, Edge, didn't really get into it. Finish was good though, as was the beggining, Taker mouthing a promise of hurt to Edge. Hopefully the finish will have Adam out of the title picture for a little while, nursing his injury, and clear the way for a new challenge to Taker. Like i've said, i'm rooting for Umaga. Vikie could bring him over to make Taker pay for what he did to her boyfriend.

Enjoyed the fatal four way match as well. Slow at first, but better when JBL/Cena were gone. Some good spots, and a finish that made me smile. Always been a fan of H. Please though, not a fued with any of his competitors from this match. Orton i could live with, but Cena or heavens no, JBL would piss me off. Have Cena/JBL fued for all I care, just keep them away from title shots for a while. H I would really like to see go against Punk (and you can throw the MitB briefcase in to it somehow) or Show. HBK/Orton as secondary options.

My two cents anyway.

Wow that sucks. I'm not too suprised since we haven't seen him in months. I guess since WWE didn't feel like using him they decided to not keep him around.

I'm glad Matt finally got the US gold. He's really deserved it. Though to be honest I liked the sceneros you guys came up with, having the screwy finish to prompt another match in the future. i'm sure we are going to get a re-match, so here's hoping for something big, like a ladder match or something to make Matt look even better by getting another big win.

So this makes 12 for HHH. He's getting ever closer to Flair's title number. I don't mind H winning it really. He's a way better choice than JBL.

I think regal is gearing up for a full time return. He's in much better shape than he's been in the longest time, and with the KOTR win, he may be attempting a run at the top. We'll see soon I guess.

Also, after defeating three Superstars in one night last week on Raw, General Manager William Regal will be officially coronated Monday night as the 2008 King of the Ring, in a ceremony full of pomp and prestige.

*Sigh*... I am so goddamned happy, I cant wait to see one of my favorite wrestlers FINALLY get the push he has deserved for so long.

Also, Trip won the belt again. <sarcasm>How shockingly incredible is that?</sarcasm>

I've always felt Balls is underrated, but with his look and skill set, I'm amazed that WWE hung onto him as long as they did. He is just not a guy that fits the WWE mold.

I'm looking for CM Punk to beat the shit out of Regal tonight, I'm also looking for....

*SPOILER FUCKING ALERT!!!*

Roddy Piper, who is in the building, to come out and inform us that Regal has been reinstated as an active wrestler, vacating the office of GM, and now Piper is the new GM of RAW. Well, that's what I'm hoping for anyway.

Same here. Regal becoming a full time wrestler again would be AWESOME. Im hoping he'll finally get the push hes deserved his entire career and that somehow in the story line hes no longer the GM.

As far as the spoiler goes, HOLY SHIT! Im really looking foward to seeing him on tv tonight, I havent seen him in a while and hes one of the best guys from wrestlings past. I cant wait for him to come out and be his regular rude self to someone and maybe even get into a match tonight.

I'm currently watchin' RAW, and a few comments are in order:

I had no idea Trevor Murdoch had such a good singing voice.... o_O

I guess Mickie James finally beat the Phoenix....about time.

Was that Ron Killings I saw pin Murdoch in that clip?

A Regal / Kennedy feud......hm. Different, to say the least.

I hope Shawn Michaels is okay.

However, the most important is:

THE! REAL! KING! IS! BACK!!! WOO-WOO-WOO-WOO-WOO-WOO-WOO-WOO-WOO-WOO-
WOO-WOO-WOO-WOO-WOO-WOO-WOO!!!!!!!!

All right, I understand that they are saving HHH vs Orton for JD, but the booking here was poor. Sure Regal beat the fuck out of the television guy would cut the match short. But first of all, there were more people around and they did not do anything which made the entire booking VERY cheesy and fake. Secondly, the match itself did not stop after Regal beat up the television guy, the screen went black, that was all. Everyone knows that HHH is going to be the champion for a few months, so as the creative team, they should either have Orton using his rematch clause tonight and then lose so that HHH can feud with Umaga or someone else. Or they can save the rematch for JD which does not make any difference. Overall, the Regal angle was pretty stupid for me. Glad to see Kennedy come back as a tweener though!

You say stupid, I say inventive and innovative. Regal on a power trip to me is such an awesome angel that I am willing to accept what happened as Raw ended. I think the match ended in a no contest.
MRRRRRRRR. KENNEDY!

Murdock singing.....Raw sure has some weird moments.

I've said it before, Chris Jericho is awesome. That dude is so damn good on the mic. That Tux was a nice touch for that segment. Jericho for World Champion! I don't mind seeing Jericho and HBK starting up their old fued. They put on some classic bouts before and I'd love to see them go at it again.

Burchill's finisher sucks. I'm not even going to attempt to ask for the return of the C4, but come on, a stomp to the head? Lame.

Santino and Rhodes put on a decent match tonight, I was actually pleasently suprised to see Rhodes show off some of his offense, while Santino got to play the aggresive role. Carlito getting the final shot in was also well done.

Overall I say this was a pretty good Raw.

Kennedy.

Regal is just really stiff, so is Finlay, and Kennedy probably bladed his head, and the lip came from just the stiffness of Regal's shots. Nobody shoots, because shooting on somebody is career suicide.

You are 100% right, that really should have gone to Punk. CM Punk needs a good fued to help raise his status enough to make him contender worthy.

Still, I did like seeing Kennedy return, maybe he and Punk could challenge Regal.
