Angle released
Aug. 25, 2006
Due to personal issues, Kurt Angle has been granted an early release from his contract. WWE looks forward to establishing a new relationship with Kurt in the near future.
The only Olympic gold medalist in WWE history, Kurt Angle arrived in 1999 and quickly became one of the most decorated champions in sports-entertainment history. "The Wrestling Machine" is not only a six-time World Champion, but also held the Intercontinental Championship and WWE Tag Team Championship; he also won the 2000 King of the Ring tournament. Recently joining ECW, Angle’s unmatched intensity was rivaled only by his technical and athletic in-ring prowess.
Please discuss.
Yeah, I saw that article about Angle's release. As if WWE wasn't already short-stacked in terms of major talent.
However, it should be noted that Kurt Angle can choose to come back and wrestle again under a new contract. He's been going through some personal issues at the time, and simply couldn't keep up the demanding schedule that comes with being a top-star of the WWE.

Its been a while since you posted here.... But yeah, it sucks to see Angle go. Here's hoping he can get his life straight and he can come back.

I couldn't agree more. Simply put, at this point WWE needs Angle. Badly. His dismissal will be felt quickly, as ECW is only just starting to prove itself as a new brand.

Its a shame.... I guess we won't get to see Cm Punk vs Kurt Angle.

At least not anytime soon. If he manages to get all of his personal stuff cleared up, his return will be just about guaranteed, considering his history with the company.
That does suck. Angle's been one of my favorite wrestlers for years.
I hope he gets his personal stuff worked out, both for himself and the WWE and the fans. The company does indeed need guys like him, especially to continue establishing ECW.
Sucks to hear that Angle got released. I think he'll return once his personal problems get better.

Yeah, LAX are the new tag champs. True. The Naturals ARE the #1 Contenders for the tag titles (although after last night I'm not so sure anymore). LAX used their rematch and wanted a "Border Brawl" match (which basically is No DQ, No Countout) which Styles and Daniels agreed to. Pretty good match in my view. Of course you know (or don't know) Styles and Daniels will invoke their rematch clause, which will be an Ultimate X match at No Surrender (to be announced next week on Impact!). Try to catch the replay tomorrow night.
More news about Kurt Angle.... He's been getting a lot of messages and I was fortunate enough to come across them...

Are you on the crack? You're obviously on the crack...ECW will be just fine without Angle because it HAS been just fine without Angle. Angle had never truly been established as a player on the ECW brand, and I don't think they're really harmed by not having him other then it's a potential main eventer gone.
Frankly, I'm upset, and I'm concerned about this. From what I'm hearing, there's probably more to this story then meets the eye. Angle has really been pushing himself lately, both in the ring, and in the back. Kurt has been working for a long time to try and prove that he can still be a long term main eventer, and with his marriage over, and everything else that seems to be going on, I think Kurt Angle is a troubled man right now, who may have just had his touchstone yanked away from him. Certainly it has been observed he is not the man he once was. I really hope Kurt will persevere, and come back from this better then ever, but it sounds to me like his head is a snake pit right now, and I feel like perhaps WWE acted too hastily here, and maybe should have tried to help Angle a little more with handling his problems. I hope to see Kurt back with the company real soon, and I hope that he can get his life in order, and be a valuable contributor to whichever show he returns to (though I'd hope it's ECW).
Avie, you said that the WWE acted too hastily but it should be mentioned that the WWE granted Angle an early release from his contract so it could have been angle himself who wanted to leave... The man has a lot of stuff to deal with, with his family and with his health. I just hope the man doesn't lose it and ends up doing something stupid.

Kurt gone from wwe?!!!!!!!?! WTF? I sure didn't see that one coming. But if it is all true about it being for personal reasons then I'm sure once he has his life straightened out he will return. There is just no way WWE would release Angle, or in this case, granted an early release for no good reason. My guess is that with his marrage over, his brief return from injury only to be re-injured, and the continual stress from traveling and doing shows must have paid it's toll on him. I truly wish him the best.
I also hope he comes back.

Yeah, Angle really is one of the best, oh it's true it's true. Since I don't have Sci Fi the last wrestling match I seen with him was against Randy Orton, and oh boy, Angle had an amazing match.
I also hope he comes back.
Same here, it's not going to be the same without him.

A great point, and I have been hearing that Angle's attitude had been he wanted to be a top guy in ECW, or there was just no point being on that show. So it is possible he opted to walk away, I'll find out more about this tommorow and let everybody know what I can. I agree...I hate to start scaring people and mentioning Kerry Von Erich but...you know what, I won't, let's just stay positive and hope this all blows over for Angle, I'm sure he'll get through this and be ok.
Man I am going to miss Angle, he was such a big piece of the show.
Man I saw that asian cowboy promo and I felt like crying. He better be a good wrestler, or he is just going to be another lump of crap in the roster.
I think they should make the cruiserweight and womens title inter-promotional, both of these are lacking competition. Plus this will give smackdown more superstars.
Smackdown was decent tonight. A three way rivalry for the tag belts is a good idea. I'm hoping for a TLC match at No Mercy.
Any thoughts?

Hey, I just felt like saying that if anyone here dosen't have Sci-Fi, they can still watch ECW. I found this out by fluke but ECW is on at 12:00 midnight on Friday night/Saturday morning on Global and right now... I just saw the craziest match for the title, when Big Show took on Sabu.
LordKooler's Friday Night SmackDown! review
1.King Booker segment
King Booker opens up SmackDown by making William Regal & Finlay his royal knights. King Booker is on the poster for No Mercy 2006. You can see it by clicking here. Then Lashley & Batista come out and attack Regal, Finlay, and King Booker. Theodore Long comes out and says that Batista & Lashley will face William Regal, Finlay, and King Booker in a Handicap match in the main event.
2.Ken Kennedy vs Matt Hardy
Jeff Hardy recently returned to WWE as part of the RAW brand. I'd like to see Matt Hardy jump to RAW to reunite the Hardy Boyz. Ashley Massaro should also jump to RAW to become the Hardyz' new manager. It was a good match. Kennedy finally defeats Matt Hardy with help from Gregory Helms who did the guest commentary for this match. Will Matt Hardy feud with Gregory Helms over the Cruiserweight Championship?
3.The Miz segment
The Miz introduces 2006 Diva Search winner Layla El. Then Miz says that he will make his in ring debut next week. I hope Miz gets squshed by Sylvester Terkay next week.
4.Sylvester Terkay vs Tatanka
Terkay won at the end. Tatanka loses for the Third straight week.
5.Vickie Guerrero segment
Vickie Guerrero came out to her late husband's I Lie I Cheat I Steal entrance music and says that she wants to apologize to Rey Mysterio & Chavo Guerrero. At the end, Vickie Guerrero turns heel by attacking Rey Mysterio with a steel chair. WWE should just leave Eddie alone. What's next? Is WWE gonna make Eddie's brothers, sisters, daugthers, and mother heel?
6.Paul London vs KC James
During the match, The Pitbulls came out and attacked London & Kendrick & Stevens & James. There are rumors that Joy Giovanni might return to WWE to manage the Pitbulls.
7.Jillian Hall vs Kristal
Kristal won at the end.
8.Vito vs Sylvan
After Vito won, Vito called out MVP because he was laughing at him but MVP had to talk to someone on his cell phone.
9.Batista & Lashley vs King Booker's Court
Batista & Lashley won at the end.

Avie you mentioned Kerry Von Erich... we know how things ended for him, but I won't think Angle would d o something like that... he wants to be the best and he wants to compete, he'll take some time and hopefully clear his head a bit.
One more thing Jimmy Wang Yang... How long before he feuds or teams up with Tatanka? Its gonna happen.
Who is Kerry Von Erich? I am not quite sure what you guys are talkling about.

He was part of the famous Von Erich family his father Fritz is a wrestling legend and his four brothers (David, Kevin, and the other two whose names I don't remember) were also wrestlers. He used steroids... he beat Flair for the NWA title... He had some problems (accidents which caused him to lose a foot) and ultimately ended up taking his life...
With Angle's current state of mind.... something like that could be a possibility that's why Avie didn't want to bring up Von Erich's name...

King Booker knights the stooges
HOW STUPID WILL IT GET NEXT WEEK? Behead the King, already. The stage is set for the night's main event.

Vickie Guererro segment
OKAY - THIS IS THE LAST FUCKING STRAW. ENOUGH! ALL 3 OF YOU SHOULD BE THROWN INTO THE GRAVE WITH EDDIE IF THIS IS HOW YOU'RE GOING TO TREAT HIM.
The Miz segment
He intros our DivaSearch winner, Leyla (I didn't know she was a former Miami Heat cheerleader, though.....^_^), only to gloat about his first match next week. Easy, now.
Tatanka vs Terkay
Tatanka gets paranoid on the ref, even though this time it was a legit call, and screws himself! The Lakotas can't be too happy about that........
Paul London vs KC James
I didn't really pay attention to it, but the Pitbulls came and soon the 3 tag-teams were brawling away. They be hungry for 'dem titles......
Jillian Hall vs Krystal
Again, not paying attention, but Jillian was doing some boob-waving.................hmmmmm..... Anyway, they both gave a little "advice" to Leyla before the match. Jillian did a little too much of that "showing off", and cost her the match.
Vito vs Sylvan.....again
Vito won by "submission" again..............repetitive, ain't it?.............while our newest wrestler-to-be, MVP, looked on from front row seats with 2 hot chicks. ^_^ After the match, he laughed at Vito & pissed him off, and Vito told him to get in the ring. But just before he would've gotten the ring, his manager called (conveniently) and told him no matches 'till the contract was signed.
Lashley & Batista vs the King & his Court (Jesters)
Put simply: The King & the Knights were severely jousted with extreme pwnage. And just for the hell of it, Batista took the King's sceptor. Now if he'd just crack open the King's skull with it, we'd finally have peace in the kingdom. ALL HAIL KING BATISTA!!!!
