I forgot about that match because it isn't official yet, probably one of those last minute announcements. It will probably be Super Crazy vs Helms for the Cruiserweight Championship. So a recap of my predictions:

Booker T becomes the NEW World Heavyweight Champion
(I doubt that he'll drop it to Batista next month at SummerSlam)

Finlay retains the United States Championship
London/Kendrick retain the WWE Tag Team titles
Super Crazy becomes the NEW Cruiserweight Champion (if this match takes place)
Batista destroys Mr. Kennedy
Undertaker makes Great Khali REST IN PEACE
Ashley wins the 4-way Bra and Panties match

Response to The Wrestling (WWE) Club 2006-07-23 14:22:53

Ok, Great American Bash predictions. The PPV stolen from WCW's dead corpse. Anyways, here I go....

King Booker def. Rey Mysterio
Batista def. Mr. Kennedy
Ashley wins the Bra and Panties thing.(hell, were all winners at the end of this match, so who really cares?)
London and Kendrick (spelling?) def. Pitbulls 2K6
Undertaker def. Great Khali in Punjabi Prison match (anyone know as to what the hell it is, yet?)
Super Crazy def. Gregory Helms (if it happens)
Finlay retains U.S. Title.

I believe that's it. Now all I gotta do is hope the Taker/Khali match is as good as they been saying it is.

WWE spoiled on their site that Helms will be facing Super Crazy for the belt at the bash. Personally, I want Crazy in ECW, and it would even be kind of cool if he brought the CW title with him, since ECW is the one that proved cruiserweight matches could make money. But that's probably just a pipe dream.

Here is the Khali story from PWInsider:

PWInsider has confirmed that ECW champion The Big Show will replace The Great Khali in the main event of tomorrow's Great American Bash PPV in the Punjabi Prison match. Khali is not suspended but has been pulled from the ring due to a medical issue.

The ECW shows this weekend in Michigan were canceled to provide WWE with Show in the main event and also bring others to the PPV in case they were needed as well.

If PWInsider says it's correct. It's correct. WWE is probably waiting until the show actually starts and people have already purchased it before announcing the change to the main event, which is pretty devious in my mind, but completely legal.

BUt I still don't like the thought of the ECW champ jobing to Taker it seems like an attempt to make the ECW brand look lesser in comparison to Smackdown.

If the cruiserweight match goes ahead, I'd assume it would be Super Crazy to face Helms.
-Cruiserweight Champion Gregory Helms Vs. Super Crazy
I say it would be Super Crazy, because it leaves more possibility for Super Crazy to get screwed by Psicosis, than if it were the other way round.
So yeah, Helms retains by Psicosis interupting and screwing Super Crazy, furthering their fued, hopefully into ECW.

It's only really jobbing if Show gets squashed, and I don't think he will. Will it still be in the Punjabi Prison? I really hope it is, they've hyped the match up for weeks, and I'd go nuts if I don't find out what it actually is.

Oh, also, I hope Kennedy doesn't get squashed :(

Response to The Wrestling (WWE) Club 2006-07-23 18:11:33

It's still a Punjabi Prison match, it's just Big Show vs. Taker instead of Taker vs. Khali. Hopefully Show gets the win here, as he really needs it more then Taker does at this time. Show is ECW champ, and legend or not, Taker is a part-time worker that Show should not job to.

Or the WWE could do something highly unlikely... like end RVD's suspension a bit earlier than usual and let him interfere and cost Big Show the match. I mean if they could use ECW to promote the GAB why can't they do it the other way around? Of course there's about a 100% chance that won't happen but I can dream.

Yes, well I still think that article is a crock. I still believe it will be Undertaker vs. Great Khali in their Punjabi Prison Match as scheduled. But I guess we'll find out in a few hours or so what is really going on. There is still no official word, but it wouldn't be the first time the WWE low-balled their fans to make a buck (although I can not think of an example at this time). If the article is correct and the Big Show does compete, then I admit to be wrong. But for now until I see OFFICIAL word, I am not convinced and the match remains as is.

Give this a listen as Michael Cole reports from the Canseco Fieldhouse, giving a description of what the Punjabi Prison structure looks/sounds like: Punjabi Prison Description

Some news about the GAB...

Gregory Helms will defend the WWE Cruiserwright Title against Super Crazy tonight at the Great American Bash according to WWE.com.

Its official, so my pick remains the same, Super Crazy for the win.

According to listings over on Ticketmaster.com, tickets are still available for The Great American Bash tonight at the Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, IN. Some recent results have shown many seats available on the floor a few rows back.

If there's a lot of seats available it means that the buyrate for the event will be horrible aswell (not really a surprise) so not a bad week for Smackdown.

As reported earlier, Bobby Lashley has been pulled from the Great American Bash due to an increase of enzymes in his liver. This can be caused by many things including heavy use of vitamin supplements, certain medications, heavy alcohol use, diabetes, or an infection.

For those who have hinted that it may be steroid abuse let me say there are over the counter supplements with similar effects to steroids, so it could be something else that's messing with Lashley.

I just got the Rise and Fall of ECW today. It's an excellent dvd. I'm currently at the part where they talk about ECW's first ppv Barely Legal. I haven't watched the matches on Disk 2 yet but i'll watch them once i'm finished watching the documentary.

Since you got the Rise and Fall, you should also get the companion piece Forever Hardcore. Which is the story of ECW according to the guys who weren't interviewed for WWE's excellent piece on the company.

Matt Hardy seems like he'd be over the CW limit (220 lbs), but I guess not if he's taking on Helms. So since it will not be Super Crazy vs. Helms, I pick Helms to retain over Matt Hardy instead.

I think the maximum weight for a Cruiserweight is 220 lbs. Hardy has held the belt before, as has Jericho (about the same weight) and Benoit competed to hold it, but lost.

Hopefully (you know what I mean), because I really can't see Lashley doing steroids, being a former US Army sarge. (He was, wasn't he?)

Helms will defend the title......against Matt Hardy. No Joke. What this means for Super Crazy and Psicosis, I can't say.

Cool. He needs more title shots.

A Punjabi Prison match is two thick cage like structures (made of bamboo) one inside each other. They're about 20 feet high and have spikes at the top. The only way to win is through escape.

Yeesh. WATCH YOUR HEAD!!!! And the both of them are pretty tall......I new it'd be something nasty. Nice change of pace from the steel cage, though.

Ok, I admit that I was wrong for not trusting Avie, the PWInsider, or any other site. I still think it's a bunch of BS though. Diseased liver my ass. To me, the whole backstage confrontation between Big Show, Undertaker, and Khali was nothing more than a way for Khali to turn tail and run because he got cold feet. I hope their is a Buried Alive match and Taker finishes Khali's chicken-shit ass off once and for all.

thats pretty dumb of wwe to turn chavo heel. This just means that we have to sit through more storylines that use the name of Eddie for cheat heat. Chavo and Rey could have been a great team.

This is good to hear. Best tag team on Smackdown.

Finlay def Regal to retain. Note: The fans were chanting "boring" during the match

As expected, including the "boring" chants. I hate slow technical matches. Technical wrestling is good to have in a match, but it shouldn't even make up half of the match.

Gregory Helms def. Hardy to retain. Good match, but saw Helms winning with a handful of tights.

Man, it's been too long since I've seen Hardy have a good match. He needs more Smackdown time.

Taker def. Big Show in the first ever (and hopefully only) Punjabi Prison match

Well, in this match, Show didn't really "job" so much since he THREW Taker out of the cage for Taker's victory, so they avoided either wrestler looking weak.

Kennedy def. Batista via DQ. Kennedy got buried at the end of a solid hard hitting matchup.

Also the wisest choice for a conclusion. Kennedy's winning streak stays alive, and Batista doesn't look like a loser so soon upon return.

Booker def Mysterio for the title when Chavo bashes Rey with a chair.

Also as expected... minus the Chavo thing. I kinda wish that most of these betrayals and heel turns would actually make more sense and be given a deeper reason.

I just finished watching the ECW Pulp Fiction promo montage easter egg after I finished watching the Rise & Fall of ECW documentary. It's very funny. The parts involving Mick Foley were the funniest. To access it, Go to Chapters and highlight Promos. Press left several times and the Pulp Fiction montage will play. Has anyone watched the other easter eggs on the Rise & Fall of ECW dvd? To get the Public Enemy train Mikey Whipreck video go to the extras on Disk 2 and highlight the Whipreck vs Sandman match and press right once. To get the Taz vs Bam Bam Bigelow feud history video go to the extras menu on Disk 2 and highlight the Taz vs Bigelow match and press left twice. To get the Rob Van Dam shows Michael Cole his scar video go to the extras menu on Disk 2 and highlight the RVD vs Jerry Lynn match and press right.

Here are the matches on Disk 2 of the Rise & Fall of ECW dvd,

The Pit Bulls vs Raven & Stevie Richards in a Two out of Three falls Dog Collar Match for the ECW Tag Team Championship. Gangta's Paradise - Philadelphia, PA (09-16-1995).

Rey Mysterio vs Psicosis in a Two out of Three falls match. Hardcore TV - Philadelphia, PA (10-17-1995).

Mikey Whipreck vs The Sandman in a Ladder match for the ECW Heavyweight Championship. Hardcore TV - Philadelphia, PA (10-28-1995).

2 Cold Scorpio vs Sabu for the ECW Television Championship. CyberSlam - Philadelphia, PA (02-17-1996).

Tommy Dreamer vs Raven. WrestlePalooza - Philadelphia, PA (06-06-1997).

Taz vs Bam Bam Bigelow for the ECW Television Championship. Living Dangerously - Ashbury Park, NY (03-01-1998).

Rob Van Dam vs Jerry Lynn for the ECW Television Championship. Hardcore Heaven - Poughkeepsie, NY (05-16-1999).

Out of all these matches, Which ones do you guys recommend?

At 7/24/06 01:27 AM, LordKooler wrote:

ECW was very innovative with their promo clips, as I pointed out earlier, ECW for the majority of their run only had an hour of television per week, so they had to try and cram as much on as they could and get the product over. The easy way they did that was they'd run big super shows of about 4 hours or better, then chop those shows into pieces and then run them for a few weeks till the next big show. The promo montages were innovative designs that offered something very unique to viewers.

All the matches on this disc were great selections, so I'll just try to run down what you can maybe expect from each:

The Pit Bulls vs Raven & Stevie Richards in a Two out of Three falls Dog Collar Match for the ECW Tag Team Championship. Gangta's Paradise - Philadelphia, PA (09-16-1995).

If I remember this one correctly, to win a fall, BOTH members of the team had to be pinned. The match worked elimination style and featured some good work, and tons of blood and weaponry. This is your standard hardcore filled with plunder type bout, but with four of ECW's best at the top of their game.

Rey Mysterio vs Psicosis in a Two out of Three falls match. Hardcore TV - Philadelphia, PA (10-17-1995).

Magnificient work here. This was "extreme lucha libre" which meant you will be seeing Rey and Psichosis doing things in this initial feud you won't see them do on WWE TV today. Lot's of flashy moves, and some creative weapon use.

Mikey Whipreck vs The Sandman in a Ladder match for the ECW Heavyweight Championship. Hardcore TV - Philadelphia, PA (10-28-1995).

Violent, just out and out violent brawling here. Any resemblance between this and an actual wrestling match is a damn dirty shame.

2 Cold Scorpio vs Sabu for the ECW Television Championship. CyberSlam - Philadelphia, PA (02-17-1996).

Very good bout, the two worked very hard here, but I'm not sure it lives up to the expectations that such a pairing would create. Great flying and weapons use here. A very good match showcasing both men's strengths.

Tommy Dreamer vs Raven. WrestlePalooza - Philadelphia, PA (06-06-1997).

The final blow off to the Tommy Dreamer/Raven feud. Lot's of good near falls, tons of brawling, interference and drama like no other. Culminating in one of the most emotional finishes in ECW history. "EC FUCKING W!!"

Taz vs Bam Bam Bigelow for the ECW Television Championship. Living Dangerously - Ashbury Park, NY (03-01-1998).

This match was a good fight between the two. Good wrestling, good brawling, and a finish that was replayed on ECW television for years to come...OH MY GOD!!!

Rob Van Dam vs Jerry Lynn for the ECW Television Championship. Hardcore Heaven - Poughkeepsie, NY (05-16-1999).

The follow up to their historic bout at Living Dangerously of that year, many people wondered if Lynn and Van Dam could top it. While not as dramatic I feel, it's still one of their best, and it cemented Jerry Lynn as a worker's worker. Especially when you consider the Van Daminator he took while crotched on the top rope to the exposed concrete floor both broke his nose and fractured his skull...and that was only in the first five or ten minutes!!!! Lance Storm probably saved Jerry's life by driving him to the hospital that night.

Out of all these matches, Which ones do you guys recommend?

Well...the reason why it was Big show instead of Khali who wrestled Taker was probably because Khali did not want to job in his game. Considering that Taker jobbed to him at the Judgement Day, he would not do the job again, so the company had to find someone who would do the job. Anyway, at least Booker T won and ended Rey's boring reign. It will be Batista vs Booker T at Summer Slam.
