By now, most of us have either heard about or seen the shoot promo Joey Styles cut on the May 1, 2006 edition of RAW. Whether you agree with the basis of the ideas in it or not, it had to be one of the most emotionally charged promos of the last few years in wrestling, namely WWE, which has suffered from a lack of excitement over that same time frame.

Now, for those of you who didn't know, word came out that Styles wrote the promo himself, and was approved to do it by WWE creative...which makes this part I'm going to cite quite a bit baffling.

Towards the end of the promo, Styles said that he was not only sick of "sports entertainment," but also sick of the fans that bought into it (which naturally got a negative reaction from the crowd).

Call me crazy, but something struck me as odd about it. We know that WWE is redoing ECW soon. We know that Styles is more likely than not going to be the play-by-play man for this version of ECW, as he was before the company's folding. For him to cut a promo like that and to basically turn himself heel on the fans made me ask this one question as I watched it:

"What does this mean for the ECW re-launch?"

More importantly, how much faith does WWE really have in it?

Now, as I acknowledged before, the promo was written by Styles himself. But in hearing it, I'm starting to think that neither he nor WWE really has any faith in the ECW re-launch. When the re-launch commences with the former ECW wrestlers that WWE currently has under contract (and those they will eventually gain during the time in which they'll prep for the launch), will the WWE fans embrace this, or just treat it like the Invasion angle rehashed?

Notice I didn't include the fan-base that the ECW product still has after all this time, because I believe that they'd be give-ins to return. But for those of us who are fans of wrestling of all types, shapes, and forms are the ones I'm a little concerned about.

Myself, I'd watch.

As for other fans who'll tune in...I'm not sure how many of them would honestly buy ECW as legitimate upon re-launch.

Yes, I know most of us here would. But I'm talking about the Joe Wrestling Fan who doesn't know about OVW or behind the scenes information, the one who's just content to watch Raw and SmackDown every week and not really want to get to into it as much as we do. Those are the fans that I believe WWE would try to target in an angle such as this...and it's those fans that I don't think would embrace ECW as a real entity.

Me personally, I hope the new ECW succeeds. But did Styles' promo do more harm than good? Only time will tell, and I'm sure we all hope for the best.

I predicted that angle was gonna get screwed in the booker T macth.Because of the JBL moment he had the week before. So I predicted Angle would beat him at jd.Because Angle would screw him in his macth against Rey the following week. But I never would have though JBL would be facing Rey at judgement day.I Thought that mark Henry should've got that role{he would interfer in one of Rey's macths} because he lost to Lashley and is a good start in Reys title reign.I also found it kinda surprising that he beat Rey last smackdown. That has to be one of the biggest upsets I've seen in awhile.

Since the big announcement that ECW was going to be resurrected, I have been amazed over the last few days. Amazed that people are getting behind it. Amazed that the most hardcore ECW fans are getting as giddy as a little schoolgirl over it. Amazed... as to how fucking blind they really are.

Do people really think it's going to be something RESEMBLING the ECW of old? It's not going to be. WWE is backing this, people. WWE. "Our-company-is-greater-than-everyone-else WWE". I'm amazed that ECW fans haven't risen up in a riot. This new shit that is coming with the ECW names isn't gonna be ECW. It's gonna be WWE Lite. We all have the hopes and the expectations that it won't be that way, but you and me both know, deep in our hearts, that it's going to be EXACTLY like that. Whomever believes that WWE isn't going to be involved in this resurrection is either stupid or ignorant. Shame on you, believers. You may as well convert to McMahonism right the hell now.

As far as Cena goes... He's fucked. I'm sorry for the kid, but he's garnered so much heat from the fans that I just can't see him working as a face anymore. He'd either have to become full-blown heel or a tweener to actually make it. His character was never meant to become the babyface he is right now, so in reality, it was the writers and the bookers that fucked up in that front. His wrestling ability? Well, if you can honestly tell me that he gives out 100% everytime that he goes out there to try to entertain and put out a good show... Then I'm sorry to tell you, he's never gonna get better (in fact, like someone else said, he's gotten WORSE over the years). He's buried. He won't be a main-eventer for too long after he drops the title again.

=\ I'm done ranting.

I myself questioned whether or not ECW would be the same upon return. But then I remembered that the worst thing about WWE is Vince running RAW personally. Smackdown does perfectly fine without him. So I think that ECW should be fine without Vince's direct involvement.

Well the Innovator of Violence has signed a wrestlers contract with the WWE.

PWInsider reports that Tommy Dreamer has signed a new wrestlers contract with WWE to wrestle in the new ECW. Right now it looks like he will still also continue doing his work at OVW.

Dreamer has been the one calling up all the ECW guys about contracts, and will be in charge of the new ECW alongside Paul Heyman.

I think WWE has been very respectful of the ECW brand thus far, and while I don't expect it to ever be something they let become a real and true priority, I am hopeful that they're willing to let it attract the niche fans back, and make some money with it.

We'll see, but I'd rather not piss on something that could be really good sight unseen, especially since the track record they have with it thus far has been to be respectful of it, and it's contributions to the industry.

LordKooler's TNA iMPACT! review
1.America's Most Wanted vs AJ Styles & Christopher Daniels
It was an ok match to start off iMPACT. AMW won with help from Gail Kim. I think that Styles & Daniels will get a rematch at Sacrifice.
2.Eric Young & Johnny Devine vs Shocker & Magno
Team Canada's roster for the World X Cup consists of Petey Williams, Eric Young, Johnny Devine, and Tyson Dux. Tyson Dux will just be for the World X Cup. Johnny Devine returns after an injury that kept him out of action for most of 2005. Team Mexico won at the end. Team Mexico and Team USA are tied with 2 points.
3.Sting segment
Sting reveals his 3rd possible mystery partner at Sacrifice. And that man is, Scott Steiner's brother Rick! When the Steiner Brothers broke up, Scott became the big star while Rick ended up like Jim Neidhart, Marty Jannetty, Bart Gunn, Samu, and Air Paris. Like those guys, Rick faded into obscurity after the Steiner Brothers broke up. Jeff Jarrett does the No Deal part again and Sting says that he will pick his tag team partner for Sacrifice next week.
4.Christian Cage vs Alex Shelley
After Christian Cage won, He cut a promo on Abyss.

Really all wwe has to do is let heyman and dreamer run things and let them do what they want to do and all will be fine. Once the new ECW has been established it will be great, though I'm sure when it first starts back up again there will be a few kinks to work out here and there.
I just hope they tour around so that I could go to a show one day.

So did I.But I expected it to happen and Rey would have a bandage around his waist entering the ring.About HHH's new song yes it kick's ass.For sure.I think he should use the "time to play the game" song when he is about to be in a macth. And use "kings of kings" in other situations.

Oh no! Oh dear God no!

Dave Meltzer reports that Mark Henry's WWE contract has been extended. Henry signed a 10 year contract with the WWE back in 1996 after he competed in the Olympics for $1 million dollars a year. Henry's new deal is not guarenteed and lasts through 2007. His money has been cut down from $1 million a year dollars to $300,000 a year.

And that's exactly what he does. He uses "Time to Play the Game" for matches, and "Bow Down to the King" when cutting promos. Personally, I'd like to see him use "Bow Down to the King" all of the time, but that's just a matter of opinion.

Btw, sorry for the double post.

lol that won't be a long fued, all nash has to do is walk across the ring and he's hurt. Seiously, he is so injury prone he should really just stick to movie roles or just retire. Haveing him fued with styles would be horrible just in the sense of the physical aspect of it, Aj is fully capable of doing nearly anything, while nash is not.

It’s rumored that WWE wants Jeff Hardy back by the end of the summer now that he’s no longer with TNA. There were plans to bring Hardy back to TNA once they moved to Thursday’s, but that never happened (probably due to his multiple drug problems). WWE has unofficially contacted him, but only wants him back if he’s clean and stays clean.
