Talkin' TNA
So it's the return of Talkin' TNA while I wonder if I shouldn't take my prognostication powers into a paying gig...although I was really only a master of the obvious on this one.
TNA had a good show this week, it was the go home to the Lockdown PPV, so I guess it's forgiveable that many of the matches didn't have clean finishes.
Plusses: I thought TNA did a very good job of pushing the Lockdown PPV, while still advancing some of the storylines they have percolating for that show and beyond...The Slick Johnson character and segments have really grown on me, some might say it's because the payoff seems to be Raven returning as a member of the championship committee, and yeah, that probably has something to do with it, but Slick has also proven to be a pretty entertaining foil for Zbysko...The X-Cup match was good, with Alex Shelley proving to be the weak link in the chain, and setting up his needing to make a choice when crunch time comes, just another seed it would seem that Jarrett's Army will break down soon (thank God! No...not the Vince Mcmahon version)...Team 3D looked good, and I was happy to see not only Spike (yes, he'll always be Spike to me) get so much offense on Jarrett, but he was also one of the focuses of the match, though I'm not a fan of his TNA debut being a job, at least it wasn't a clean one...Christian Cage's segment did a good job of putting heat back on the Christian/Abyss situation...Christian should be a ball of rage over this, and should have always been presented as such, if a guy comes to my house, insults my wife, nearly drowns me, I'm going to want to kick the freakin hell out of this guy, and this promo did a good job of cementing that. Christian is fighting from the underdog position, and it'll be interesting to see if he and Abyss can really deliver on the violence here, they've got a lot of good competition to overshadow their match, I hope their up to the task...the ending brawl was just a great way to get over the main three programs involved in it, it's oft repeated, but sometimes the old cliches still work.
Minuses: Man, who the hell have the Diamonds in the Rough pissed off? Seriously, these guys seem to be getting jobbed out every week. These guys are all decent workers, maybe not main event level heels, but certainly better then the cannon fodder they've been used as of late...TNA needs more TV time, as it seems to me a glass ceiling is fast developing with many talents being left off of the shows each and every week, it's not fair to them, and kind of reminds me of how ECW's deal with TNN worked (maybe I shouldn't be surprised since Spike used to be TNN...no word on whether or not they still fuck pigs), it's hard to get anything new over with so little time to showcase anything in, but TNA usually does a good job with the time they've got.
Round the middle: Nothing. This was a pretty good show top to bottom, with the same minor flaws TNA has had for a while now.
