Smackdown! Recap for February 11th, 2006 - “More Abominations”
Opening – Just In Case You Missed Last Week
Of course, we open up to last week’s show, as we need as much filler as possible!
Match 1 – Fatal Four-Way for US Title #1 Contendership
Mister Blogmeister vs. Cowboy Jibble vs. Buckwheat vs. Banoit-Eh
First off, why are great wrestlers like JBL and Benoit battling over the US title? I’d rather them not going for any title then any less than the WWE title at this point. It’s just insulting, especially to Benoit. Of course, we’ve gone over this already. Anyway, about the match.
Jibble opened up to a nice little dance coming out of his limo. I laughed. Then, Mr. (Five Time)^5 comes out to annoy us all. It worked. Basically, a lot of wrestling happened after that. The announcers reminded us about the rules of the Fatal Four-Way. Sharmell and Booker argued with the announcers.
Anyway, moving on…
Oh wait…the outcome! Yeah, Banoit-Eh got it. You really thought he wouldn’t?
Afterwards was a rather hilarious chat between Mr. Five Time and Holla Back. Basically, Booker T is required to wrestle at No Way Out or else he forfeits the title. This could actually make things interesting. I’d like to see how this continues.
Oh yeah, JBL is not happy, either.
Match 2 - The M&M’s want some people to play with
Before the match, Melina decides to act like the Nice Little Caring Girl That Is Completely Innocent. Basically she offered to scratch Matt Hardy’s back if he was willing to scratch hers. Just imagine…we could see unbridled back-scratching right on network television!
Yeah, so they come out to the ring and want to offer a match to anyone with their “15 minutes of fame with MNM.” Which, incidentally, is what I ALWAYS wanted. London and Kendrick (who are apparently thespians now), come out. The match starts.
Now am I the only person that is overly-annoyed by Melina’s Screams of Doom throughout the match? Anyway, I expected a great match, considering London and Kendrick haven’t been used on SD in a while and are not bad as a tag team. Of course, it’s a fucked up match after all.
Randy Yaks To The Camera
This is the typical WWE “oh, he might be apologetic, but he won’t be” interview. No need to comment more.
Then he goes out to the ring and does more “Let’s milk Eddie’s death for as long as possible” shit. It’s not the Eddie-bashing that disgusts me…it’s the fact that the WWE puts this shit on the air. LET EDDIE FUCKING REST IN PEACE.
Match 3 – The Wrestler Formerly Known as Hurricane vs. Nunzio
Do you really care? Helms won. Quite boring.
Captain Jack Sparrow graces the WWE
Yeah, so Crystal asks the network guy about the merger, after which he brings out the Lollipop Guild playground. Again, such belittling of what could be a good wrestling division. Anyway, Mr. Kennedy Kennedy comes out to annoy the network guy. I was pleased to hear him greeted by cheers, which might make the WWE notice that he’d be great as a face. Then, Captain Jack Sparrow himself comes and says “hello” to everyone.
I just can’t decide whether this gimmick is going to be really good or really bad.
Match 4 – Some Lollipop Guild Match
You know how I feel about the way the WWE is treating these people, but I’d like to comment on the match. These guys really CAN wrestle! Sadly, this was the most interesting match all night so far. Even a really big screw-up looks good in the hands of these guys. I was genuinely entertained, and not because of the annoying gimmick.
Enter the Drunken Irishman. He beats up everyone in the ring then blabs on about the ring being serious. Oh wells.
Booker T
…worms. LOL.
Match 5 – That Fat Bastard vs. Taker
I know why they made this match…to see which force was mightier: Taker’s greatness, or Mark Henry’s suckiness. It was a good match, though. Undertaker doesn’t seem to lose many matches, including the match again such a force as Mark Henry’s suckiness. Taker actually made me believe for a little while that he might not be able to handle Mark Henry…that’s how good he was. Taker really played the “I’m fighting a giant” part well, considering he’s a giant himself. It was very cathartic to see him Chokeslam Mark Henry as well as do some of his great moves like Old School.
Taker is about to win, when the WWE realizes we can’t let a match be open-and-shut that easily. Therefore, the M&M’s come out and attack Taker, DQ-ing Henry. It was fun watching Taker beat the shit out of them until Henry came to. Then Your Olympic Gold Hero comes out and saves Taker, after which the two give each other an Awkward Stare.
Taker wins via DQ
As if this wasn’t enough, Holla Back comes out and declares a 2 on 3 match. I’m sure you can figure out who is fighting who. This will be an interesting match only because it should be fun to see Taker working side by side with Angle, especially right before a title shot…
Conclusion
Well, I enjoyed the night, with the exception of a few matches. The ending was more interesting to me than other SD’s recently, which is good. Hell, having Taker in action every week is good for ANY show. I just kinda wish we didn’t have to tag along Mark Henry with this storyline.
Yeah, I know this recap wasn’t as good as my others, but I was kind of having an off-night. I hope you enjoyed it either way.
