I think TNA had a good debut overall, I hear some complaint over the squash matches, but the fact is, Monty Brown and AJ Styles are two of the top guys in the company, and letting them work squashes helps to establish that in the eyes of the fans. I also liked the segments that ran through the show explaining some of the finer points of the product, TNA needed, and still needs, to show it's audience what they do differently from Vince, they did a good job of that tonight, and having AMW facing Team 3D next week should give us a very good indication of something Vince dosen't have, and will need to build up over time: A strong tag team division.
I was very impressed by TNA at Unbreakable, and I thought that they did a lot right with the TV taping, some people might have wanted them to blast out of the box much stronger, but the slow and steady approach is what's going to win viewership I feel. I also heard some complaints about the size of The Impact Zone. Frankly, it's like having their own ECW Arena, it's a home base, it's small, and it's going to be more cost effective to them to have a home base, with a rabid loyal crowd, rather then run larger buildings they can't afford, and have seats they can't fill. I think the Impact Zone and a full, hot house, is much better then just about any crowd Vince attracts, where he is never selling out anymore unless it's something like Wrestlemania.
Did they blow the doors off? No, but they came out of the blocks very strongly I feel, and as long as they continue to differentiate from Vince's product, TNA should become a viable and healthy alternative.
