Now I'll know who will cover the Megadeth vs Metallica threads for me. the dr0kns know about my Megadeth obsession, and like to link me to them, and know how upset I get repeating myself over and over. OH DEAR GOD. Just thinking about it.

You're really in to the new Megadeth, all those songs and that album are all from when they sold out.... Well, I havn't heard much from that era, so I guess I'll learn alot from you!

Besides the first three albums, Megadeth stayed consistant with their sound in the 90s until now. I really can't ever consider them to sell out, besides when Mustaine had issues with wanting to do something more 'pop' than metal, which he pulled off in Cryptic Writings, but failed in the metal world with Risk.
My taste in Megadeth alternate a lot too. Depending which album I decide to pick up and listen to for a few months before I move on. But I have to say, my favorite was their 90s sound. You could tell In Rust In Pease where the 'new' sound came in. And then stuck. besides the two albums I mentioned before. Altho Risk is a hit or miss, doesnt have much middle ground. Cryptic Writings pretty much varies.
But ya. I havent listened to much of their 80s stuff for a while. Not out of , oh-i-dont-like-it, kinda of way. Just rotating myself.
I like his lyrical shit better in the 'new' stuff as well.
Iunno. Ive been craving a cleaner sounding Megadeth lately. While their 80s have a more raw sound, kinda like how Led Zep had a raw sound to them.
This is offically rambling after 3 cups of coffee and almost 6 am typing tho. So I'll end it there.

A fair few probably. I feel sorry for them...
ALSO. Side note. I hate the term sold out.
Every band goes through transitions. EVERY. BAND. It doesn't even mean they got worst, they just dont always head a way or to a sound you agree with. Or you get the nostalgic fanboys.
Kinda like what's happening with Blind Guardian. There sound isnt bad, or sold out. Just different. A new wave, a new calling.
A band is there more than just to serve its fans.

No, really, think about it. Of course you NEED your fans. And you NEED to build yourself through them to a certain point to do whatever you want after that.
It's like the striving artist. You'll be the colorist for the comics, because you wanna work with comics, and when you get big enough and trustworthy enough, they'll let you draw for them, recreate for them.
A lot of bands like to do what they wanna do too. Sometimes you have to let go of the fact that, ya, those first whatever albums are the albums and sounds your fans fell inlove with, but it's time to not die of boredom of doing the same thing over and over, and hope that you built yourself a loyal enough of a fanbase to walk you through a transition.

yeh i do get you now...thats a very good point there, but you have to also see other bands that try and do that to quickly, or they fuck up when they try and do it. Like Trivium.
its like 11pm here, ive been working 6am-6pm and pretty much have fuck all of an idea of what im saying, im off to bed.
Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, all the best guys!

I would.... but only for the sake there is a local band called Risk. And whenever I see the word 'Risk' I get a comical boner cause they really do suck testicles.
But yeah, Rust In Peace > All, really.

I'm thinking about ordering Killing is my Business...And Business is Good from the internet in a few days time. I should've bought this album ages ago, but I was never arsed to buy it. Besides, the cheapest price I saw it at the shops was £13, so I'll try and get it at a lot lower price. :P

I saw it for £5 in MusicZone.

I can buy it for about £4 from Amazon (without postage). I've never seen KIMB in Music Zone. Only in Virgin (they only had the original version) and HMV (they had the remastered version), so I should definately buy their first album from Amazon in a few days time.
Woah. Sorry for the negligence.
I haven't been in C&C for a while and I forgot about this.
I got a few Megadeth albums a while ago, Youthanasia and Peace Sells...
Dunno if i've mentioned that before :P
But my music shops suck for Megadeth stock. I've been back and forth to my local shop for a few months now and they don't have a wide selection.
I'll probably be wanting SFSGSW? next.
So, i've never listened to Risk, but is it really that bad?
At 12/23/06 10:09 AM, DanAbnormal wrote:

No, it really isn't. It's just much much more 'mainstream' of an album. Which pissed off a lot of fans. But record wise, it still sold a HUGE number, and was considered a hit, because, well, musically it was still great. Genre it wasn't. . I personally like a few songs on it. Like The Doctor is Calling, or Insomnia, or Crush 'em. I mean, ya it's more 'mainstream', but 'mainstream' doesn't always mean 'suck'.
I mean, I think it's just cliche to run around to be like LOLOL RISK!!! Because you are just suppose to know as a Megadeth fan that was their outcast " I'm trying to do something new, but it didn't go so well" album.
Funny as it is, that was the first album I ever picked up. Was going through a second hand store. I didn't get into music until pretty late in my life. So it was the first time I probably ever heard thrash metal too..

I remember going to, yet another second hand CD shop ( I love those places, goddamnit), and found 7 of Megadeths albums for 5 bucks Canadian each. But I cant remember which albums were there. I only bout 3 at that time.
But there are always places to get dirt cheap treasures.

So I've been having this discussion as of late and I figured I would ask here. Megadeth's best album is?
For me its their first album, Killing is My business... And Business Is Good. However, some of my buddies say that its Rust In Peace, while a couple of others say its The World Needs A Hero.
So what is Megadeth's best album?
At 12/23/06 04:38 PM, pepeatumi wrote: So what is Megadeth's best album?
It's all about taste I think. I've only heard about 6 of their albums, and Rust In Peace is easily my favourite. I like it because it has such full sound, compared to some other thrash bands which I sometimes think can be a bit bland. Plus it's pretty much an overall great for me, not only for Thrash, but all Metal in general.

You're probably right. Rust In Peace is probably the highest-point musically of both Megadeth and Mustaine, but in my opinion its about their third best album, with Countdown To Extinction and Business is Good being the top two.
Also for those who may not know, their next album United Abominations is scheduled for release on the 20th of March of 2007.
