It was about Megadeth dumbass.

But only half of it was about Megadeth. :P

And there shall be no down talking of Megadeth. For Dave is undeniably one of the Gods.... though not as Godly as Clifftopher Burton or Johnathan Petrucci.... but one of the high echelon.

Clifftopher? Haha is that the full name?

Can't compare Cliff and Dave. Different mediums of musical magic you see.
As for Dave and John. Hmm. Tough one there.
They are both godly riff-making machines, sent down from the heavens, or from hell if you're mindset is purely metal.

Peace Sells.

And I didn't forget Rhoads. Rhoads is like Wylde.... good in comparrison to other mainstream guitarists. But totally overrated.

Listen to Bumblefoot, Buckethead, Paul Gilbert, Steve Vai, Chris Impellitteri and tell me Rhoads is good.

I said opinions? Shit, *I* dont even remember then.

Anyways, the newest album?
Megadeth went through a shift in the early 90s that would ALWAYS let go of their raw thrash side from the 80s. Pretty much, they dropped a lot of the punkrock that makes thrash, and relied a lot of the speed that completed thrash.
So by many, the new album wont be that great, so its just a continuation of this progress. Now, I think their most "recent" and best album was The World Needs a Hero. So TSHF when I first listened to it, was a slight disappointed, only because I was holding up one of my favorite albums next to it, sort of deal.
After not being bias about it, I listen to it, and I think it's a great album. Not the kind Im going to reloop for ages, but it has some great hits. Of Mice of Men, Scorpion, Kick the Chair, Something Im not, Back in the Day...Etc.
The CD is a lot more..calm than most though. So it just has to be in your taste. The guitar work is amazing, as usual, but the music itself is something radio friendly if your station would play rock, ya know? So some might say more mainstream, more pop, but I say so what?

I think it's a successful album. I know it's not an IN YER FACE album, but I dont need it to be that to enjoy it. I mean, I liked Cryptic Writings, which was their first pop attempt that went well, so of course im going to enjoy this album. *shrugs*
Im just trying to say I KNOW why most wont like it, or be disappointed, but I personally like the fluctuation of the band, since I find Megadeth would be one of the bands where it's sound would bore me to death over the 20 years if it was always the exact something from the 80s. (some bands, im the opposite of course). So I totally give TSHF a thumbs up. I think it's catchy.

Well, your taste's were always 'light' so to speak.

I'll be honest and say I don't like Metallica and Megadeth as much as I used to. I'm progressing into more heavier music now. Still, Megadeth is heavy.

Before they did Countdown to Extinction.

I sitll like Countdown, but Youthanasia crossed the line.

I just don't mix heavy with good.
I, too, listen to a lot more heavier stuff today than I ever use to, but heavy != better.

Is The World Needs A Hero a very good album? I've heard it's a weak Megadeth album but you say it's their best. XP

Youthanasia was still great, even though it had a few fillers. I don't care if it was slower and not like the old Megadeth, but it was still a great album.

See, Id have to go back and listen to the whole thing right now to tell exactly why I love it so much, but I'm going back and forth from the computer doing an art project.
It's my favorite RECENT megadeth, and just happened to be my favorite album at the time I joined here. But I fluctuate through favorite albums atm a lot.
Right now Im stuck on Countdown to Extinction.

But anyways, Hero..well..I just like the raw darkness of it. He was all kinds of hurt and pissed when he wrote that. Burning bridges, 1000 times goodbye, lyrics to When, Promise, war horse?etc..
Iunno, I just think the album has distinct hits on it. I never heard people call it their weak album. If anything it was their comeback after making Risk. Maybe I heard wrong.
I think it was their curve to going back to thrash rather than mainstream, imo.
well...depends which songs, some are very thrashy, like warhorse and burning bridges, some areradio type, 1000 times good bye, losing my senses, and some are slow, promise, when..
I cant musically really justify this album, i just like the attitude, the rhythme, the emotion, and the variety of it. Whenever Im in a bit of a twisted mood, I usually go to this album.
I guess sometimes it isnt about being harder, faster, and thrashier when I go to Megadeth..

Everyone listens to everything for different reasons I suppose, and I love this album for its emotional impact that all other albums have failed to deliver to me.
Just because Im not as picky with Megadeth, and tend to like different albums for very different reasons, doesn't mean I have "light" taste. Jesus lord. I just look out for different elements I like. Being broad about a BAND and having light TASTE, is two different things.

I wish i would be able to get to what Im trying to say in less ramble and long posts. D:

Death.
Black is too slow/bass/lack of melody for me.
I prefer the fast, harsh, and melodic ways of death
