Yea, one of my old skool faves. Vegeta pw3ns. The best saga was the buu saga, where Vegeta got to beat the crap out of Goku. A classic in it's time.

Draonball, the one where Goku is a kid, that was okay. Nice story, nice characters, nice. Once everybody suddenly got the power to blow up planets, it just got kind of dumb. I loved the animation and the cool effects, but after a while, you notice that there isn't much to the storyline other than find evil villain #1, kill, find evil villain #2, kill, repeat, repeat, repeat, blow up planet, repeat, repeat, repeat... Then again, I was watching the editted, dubbed version (except for a few episodes I borrowed) , so that may have influenced my impression on the series, but I still don't think there was much to the plot.

I never saw the unedited sub of DBZ, but I want to. I hated that crappy version they show on Cartoon Network. I liked Bardock: Father of Goku though because it's set in a time when people couldn't blow up an entire solar system just be farting. An energy blast actually killed the opponent, and took up so much of a person's Ki that they used fist fighting more. Oh, and they didn't use the stupid device of "OMG< it's so fast I can't see it" because I hated when fights turned into watching black lines move across the screen.

You might have heard of these already, but try Samurai X and I've heard Samurai Deeper is good also. I've seen parts of Berserk and that looks pretty cool.

I have a dillema about dbz I liked the first ones as it was all martial arts and the moves looked cool, and the ki blasts where only to finish the job. Later eipisodes had way better animation but all they did was use repeated scenes of punching and kicking while adding the sounds after going yayayayahahayayayayahhaytyyayayayhadghayyayaya.

Hey dragonball was cool I loved that anime its just that everyone liked it so it got boring and they kept on showing the floor for like 5 minutes every episode with some cool music.

It is bad because someone told me it is considered spamming. I'm not really sure why it is bad. Just don't do it.

Multi-posting is bad because it can result in page after page in a topic being filled up by posts from just one user. Spamming is the posting of stuff that has pretty much no relevance to the topic, like:

WHY DO DOGS POOP?

Or some stupid BS like that. Posts like that tend to get the user who posted it, as well as the thread in which it was posted, in deep s**t with mods and/or the admins.

However, relevant posts, such as this little line:

Has anyone here seen Vengreance of the Space Pirates? I, personally, don't consider it anime. How about you?

Are perfectly fine. That is, unless you've posted the same thing about 134 times already.

No problem. Always a pleasure to do something useful.

And no, I haven't seen Vengeance of the Space Pirates.

My advice: Don't see it unless you're into REALLY crappy animation and crappy voice-overs, as well as people moaning in pain throughout half a movie. At least they had a bit (key word: BIT) of creativity. I'd give the movie overall a 3/10.

It's been a while since I've seen Pokemon or Yu-Gi-Oh.
Are they (still) worth watching?

Response to Anime Club 2004-10-30 00:14:51

Wanna know my opinion? They were never worth watching...

The games were good, but the series... >_> YuGiOh was kinda overtheatralic at every single action no matter if it was the fate of the world or just a normal stupid match (if you actually played the card game before you'll know what I mean) and Pokemon... well it got boring with time cuz the story seems to repeat itself. Ther are two possible plots to every single episode:

Variation 1: Ash meets new pokemon, learns about it, Team Rocket comes and tries to steal stuff and gets defeated everybody happy blablablabla

Variation 2: Ash meets a trainer/enters a gym/league, and fights, team rocket show up and gets defeated Ash eventually wins the battle or at least learns a new lesson etc...

So true, so true. Pokemon just always seemed rather stupid to me. Nothing seemed remotely realistic, and it looked like the anime equivalent of Teletubbies. No offense to anyone who enjoyed it. I guess it started okay, but then it did get repetitive.

That reminds me, I saw a Charmander trick-or-treating on Thursday. However, the most disturbing costume I saw was a boy from middle school or high school trick-or-treating as a French maid. Only Man-Faye could make me sicker to my stomach.

Why were they trick-or-teating on Thursday? That makes no sense to me.

You're right. The whole "heart of the cards" thing was pretty stupid. Also, I hate games that make you waste loads of money on cards that will eventually be worthless. I never played such games, and I have watched my friends' card collections run worthless many tims throughout my life.
