I know mangas cost 10 bucks. But it's still too much money after you buy them all :( I usually just got to Barnes & Nobles for a good two hours and read some mangas and books. That's how I've read most of the mangas.

Most of their music videos were japanese oriantated... like Noodle! I hope that qualifies as a character... If you go to Gorillaz.com you'll see most of the animation was inspired and some of it was made in Japan...
