It's more than just that really; although the hot springs episode (Ep. 6?) could trick people into thinking that it's all about the fanservice.

Just watch the show, and have a fun time with it. It helps to be knowledgeable in older mecha series, but even if you're new to mecha, it's still easy to watch.

I saw the last few episodes back when sci-fi was doing animonday and it seemed a little weird but still good (doesn't help that it was the very end of the series). I'm not much for mecha anime but I would probably watch it if there weren't other shows I'm watching.

So today i went to Japantown in San Francisco with the Anime club on my campus. Today was the first day of their Cherry blossom festival so it was fairly packed all throughout the day. Oh man... I had a fucking blast.

There were a few vendors selling anime related stuff. One lady... One fucking lady was selling a Tenshi (from Angel Beats) bed sheet set. Now... The tag said 75 dollars. She said that she lowered the price to 50. A friend and I were very suspicious of such things so we got on the interwebz and found out that the same bedsheet set was worth 20. She was also selling a Tenshi figure for 180 dollars. Checked that price and it was only 100. Basically... We didnt buy anything from her. I just thought it was ridiculous that she would charge that much for stuff.

Other than that though, i had a great time with all of my friends.

Just finished Death Note and it was pretty damn good! Going to take a break from Manga and start reading Hunger Games. I am thinking of trying Bleach after and then working my way to Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z and then Naruto.
