I'm sorry are you comparing watched lists? Just gonna say that both of those are pathetically small, I would even consider my watched list small, which I will link to in the interest of not copying it and formatting it.

you are GOD! you seen 30 more shows than me. pretty amazing person you are. sempai you are yes.

It seems longer when you've rewatched a ton of them more than once. I need to expand!
If I only count it as watched once, it comes out under a month of what I finished. Of course, Bleach's 320 episodes, which I stopped at, are insane. I can't believe it does have that much, yet I watched all of them. Like Delirium wrote, good concept, flawed execution. Only sometimes, though.

I dropped beach at 202 when it had just came out. the fillers annoyed me, just like naruto and a few other animes

Strangely, it's the only one that I have trouble reading spoilers about. I went to TV trope it, and could not, for the life of me, dare highlight the spoilers. I think that says something.

manga was enjoyable. as for the main character, i hate his personality. though i guess he had his moments where i was proud of him.

Just finished Tiger & Bunny, I completely misjudged it the first time around. The first episode is a little misleading, as the marketing advertising gimmick dies down when a plot gets going. Turned out to be a good, fun action anime. Kotetsu impressed me a very easy, likable older character that you can root for with no problem.

It was nice seeing something more western influenced as opposed to your usual Asian supernatural/rom-com fanfare.

Looking forward to the movies, now!

Fair enough. I'd rather have someone explain why they would need to die in a fire as well.

anyway, moving away from drama, just got to the big (~ep 80) twist in LOGH.

His death absolutely horrified me when I first saw it. The guy deserved to die of old age with his wife in a nice country farmhouse, he didn't deserve the way he went out. Just laying there in the corridor with no one to even say goodbye to.... I wept pretty hard from that. I thought he was such a brilliant man, someone who I genuinely looked up to and cared about.

We need more people like him in this world. We really do.

Also whatever happened to oberstein? He used to be in every episode being a dick and looking shifty and all that, and then he just disappeared for a while, and now is he back again suggesting the use of underhand tactics and all that? Huh?

That's how Oberstein plays; sometimes he'll just disappear for a while and let things run it's course while he hides away. Planning, scheming. It's so easy to just point the finger and think that he's like the 'true' antagonist of LoGH, when in reality he's so devoted to Reinhard's cause that he intentionally makes the harsh decisions, and will always take the blame right away. That kind of self-sacrifice is unreal, but he did it without any thanks or showing of gratitude.

Oberstein was my favorite of the Empire. Incredibly fascinating man.

Are you going to see any of the movies/ova's or have you already? For anyone who wants to get into LoGH, I recommend watching 'My Conquest is the Sea of Stars", followed by 'Overture to a new War'. They're very good introductions to the characters and the universe.

Since list were brought up earlier. I might as well show off.

A few things stuck out to me in that. My most notable wtf was Kirby: Right Back At Ya!, and that you watched one hundred episodes of it. There was other shit like Naruto and Yu-Gi-Oh! that caught me off guard, but I just ended up wondering if you even enjoy most of the anime you watch or if you're just going through the motions?

It aired on television in the United States several years ago.

There was other shit like Naruto and Yu-Gi-Oh! that caught me off guard,

On tv/shit I watched years ago when I was a kid.

but I just ended up wondering if you even enjoy most of the anime you watch or if you're just going through the motions?

That's a pretty stupid question. If I didn't enjoy the vast majority of what I watch, why would I even watch anime anymore if I get little enjoyment out of it?

Yeah, just watched the next episode, when julian breaks the news to frederica, and she goes on about how she'd planned out his death, as he just dies peacefully with a grandchild running to wake him up... well, the whole of the ED pretty much focuses on that, with pictures of picnics and laughter etc etc.

Damn, I still have a long way to go before I watch 100 anime series.

Speaking of Kirby, I finished Return to Dream Land a day or two ago. I can't wait to beat extra/hard mode without getting a game over. If you have a Wii, it's definitely worth playing.

Never got into anime before, but I have recently started watching Rurouni Kenshin and Death Note. So far they're excellent. I enjoy the historical background and concepts of honor in RK and the idealistic questions brought forward by Death Note.

I guess I let society tell me that anime was for losers. I enjoy it, and I enjoy samurai era Japanese culture. The values of their society has many lessons for our current generation to learn from today. So...fuck society :)

What animes do you guys really enjoy? Also, do you like the animes I mentioned above?

Oh wow, you're alive. I remember you from the Industrial Club.

Personally, I watch just about everything. Save for maybe harems aside from oldschool exceptions. Mecha is something I haven't been very interested in aside from maybe Dougram, which I plan to watch in the future.

For what they are, I think they're reasonably entertaining at least. I don't agree with the questions that DN brought up, but I don't think it was a bad show. Kenshin turns into your average shounen anime after a while, and it loses that sort of unique samurai quality that could have made a great story of personal redemption.

You could do a hell of a lot worse, though.

You don't agree with the questions the show brought up, or Light's idea of a world without criminals through the judgment of one person? That's really disappointing about RK. I'll still watch it I guess...okayface.jpg :(

I see the elitism is still strong here. No offense by the way. My theory is that people that come here often dislike the town their in, and generally dislike conforming to society etc. To separate one's self from society they like obscure things. Often times I suspect that people don't even like the things they say they do, but are rather trying to fit in in a certain niche. I digress though, I am not accusing you in particular of anything, but I do remember you being different than when you first came here :P

That doesn't answer my question. I want to know how he ended up dead again after the whole Buu thing was over and done. And I want to know why he had to explain the fusion thing all over again like they'd never done it before. Now that I think about it, I don't recall Vegeta dying either, but he's dead in the movie.

Also, I think some of the movies are better than the show itself, like World's Strongest and Tree of Might.

meh. I loved Rurouni Kenshin when I was about 14. I still have the complete box sets and occasionally watch it for nostalgia, but I don't think it's so great anymore. And Death Note was alright at first, but it got lame after a certain point.

As far as my favorite anime, I'd say mine are Princess Mononoke, Baccano, Last Exile, Cowboy Bebop, Nausicaa, Akira, Paranoia Agent, Steamboy, Spirited Away, Vampire Hunter D, Vampire Hunter D Bloodlust, Hellsing Ultimate, Samurai Champloo, Lupin III, Shin Chan, Kemonozume, Cowboy Bebop, and though it's Korean and technically not anime, Aachi wa Ssipak.

I don't really agree with anything DN tried to tell me. I don't particularly believe in some egomaniac having any sort of justification for murdering others. That and it just wasn't that intelligent or enthralling after a while. How I felt, at least.

I see the elitism is still strong here.

If you want to consider it that, then yes I suppose it's still going strong. I've just branched out a lot, seen a lot of shows that haven't been given the proper attention and appreciation. So whenever I meet someone who says Death Note or Code Geass is the best anime of all time. Can't help but chuckle.

that's besides the point, people who are members in here shouldn't be saying that kind of shit to outsiders looking to join. it's one of the reasons why the club has been and will be(if continued to do so)stagnant in members and more varied discussion. the 'everyone's aware it was all in a jest' i don't honestly buy. i told Mendou, in the old days years back, to literally slit his writs and to burn himself alive. all of it maliciously intended as well.

In response to kermit saying that we have done that, I agree. We have done that before, but this kid is someone who hasn't been here before, so there's no reason we should assume he read the last 2000 pages. imo.

Kermit is pining more on overall/everyone in the club. it has gotten better over these past few months and it's looking up. no one ever reads the old posts before joining and very few actually read any of it or have been around for a lot of it aside from a handful of us old timers. just about every user looking to join has only seen R1/Toonami/Adult Swim released anime and then some puss licking piss chugger in this club makes a jab at them or mocks them. it's beyond old and keeps potential interesting users from joining and broadening their tastes in anime.(not to mention getting a discussion about other anime/manga series aside from the handful of ones that are discussed so religiously)

Mendo is a prime example. a lot of us blasted the shit out of him when he first joined and for some odd reason and magical fortitude he stuck around for the long haul. he has the widest views and tastes in anime out of anyone i've ever met and talk to. every time i talk to him on skype i remember the mean shit i said to him in the past and regret every word of it.

Case in point: If anyone here wants to make fun, take a stab or mock a potential new member/someone you don't associate with outside of the club then take that shit to Reddit, 4ch, 9gag or wherever else. The only time(s) I view taking jabs and shots at people in this thread is when it is member to member. Someone who has been here for a bit and is somewhat established.

Either you misunderstood my post or I yours, because I think we're in agreement. I was saying exactly what you have been, that it's fine that mendou said just "no" to letiger, who's been around for a while (iirc) (if he hasn't well then whatever). I only took real issue to the guy who suggested the newbie should die in a fire.

No, I don't like elitism, but it's an incredibly tough thing to shed, and I know mendou + kermit are very outspoken and I agree with them that yet another discussion about death note will get tiresome. I'm not sure that there's any solution to this problem that will appease both new people who really do want to discuss deathnote and old people who really dont.

Also, on topic, I'm reading (and thoroughly enjoying) the fullmetal alchemist manga at the moment, which (if i understand it) lines up with FMA:Bro'hood. Do I need to/should I still watch both anime? Should I just watch brotherhood because people think it's superior? Or FMA classic so I can see its different take on things and see why someone felt it deserved recreating without branching from the manga?

We may have misunderstood each other then since it seems like we are indeed in agreement.

I understand that it is and at times I to express it at times. The majority of the time though I just hold it in since I know where they're coming from as should everyone that's in here. We all started in the same place, if not a similar place, in terms of anime/manga tastes. Sometimes it is through ones understanding of a series before they loose their blind fandom for it or it is by the words of another person. I'm fine with either of those but if you're going to talk down someones favorite anime or what have you at least give reasons why it's bad and suggest something similar to 'said anime' and why you would think they might like it better(not directed towards you but just as an example). Or try and see it from their side of the table.

I've not read the manga but I've seen both animes. From what people have told me and from what I've gathered is that the manga does line up with Brotherhood. I can't say for sure if you should watch the old FMA or FMA:B honestly since you are reading the manga and FMA doesn't line up with the original story. They're both good but Brotherhood is much better IMO. If you are interested then I'd say watch the classic FMA and maybe the movie as well. There are parts of the original that I do enjoy but I find Brotherhood to be a lot better. Hell, give them both a shot I guess.
