Finished up Ergo Proxy, it was a great show. The start was very dry so it is kind of hard watching the first couple episodes but it really picks up. There are many times in the series where your idea of what is good and what is bad gets flipped. A lot of morality, and philosophy in this show. it felt very similar to Texhnolyze. The OP and ED are very related to the show and tasteful. The biggest complaint is near the end there is a couple episodes of filler that I found rather annoying. I also picked up Clannad and watched the first couple episodes. I found it rather boring but I will probably continue watching it for the cute girls and pretty sakura.

I tried it a few years ago, I had a hard time getting into it and dropped it but mostly because I though it wouldn't pick up, I think I'll give it a try again.

I enjoyed Clannad, even though a lot of people consider it forced drama.

Currently on hiatus. No word on when there will be a new volume.

Loved ubel blatt. Read it all in 2 days.

I just finished gurren lagann today. It was so beautiful. I want to cry right now. The ending was so good, it wrapped everything up nicely. It's sad to see it end, I kinda don't want it to. If I watch the first episode again...I might just shed a tear. It was amazing.
The impact was lighted by the comedic relief, check the tags in the final episodes, street fighter and ghost in the shell are tagged for some reason. Made me laugh.

Well guys, off to watch fist of the north star.

Finished Gundam 00. Fuck the haters, that shit was amazing.

I think it had poor antagonists, though, especially Ribbons. Never was a fan of megalomaniacs like him (Ali-Al was average, and FUCK NENA. Alejandro was the best of them). The 'expanded' consciousness/Innovator concept are pretty much newtypes from the original series, and despite other similarities toward Wing (Marina/Relena both being pacifists and their kingdom destroyed in front of them, for one), it's still original and worth watching.

G > Wing > MSG > 00

Treize is still the best character in the series, fyi. Sergei was probably my favorite character of 00, next to Patrick.

Next on my watch-list/backlog, no specific order (aside from KS):
Kaleido Star S2
Samurai 7
More Gundam
Godannar
City Hunter
Heat Guy J

Manga:
GTO
Sailor Moon
Law of Ueki
Gash Bell

Got some VNs to read, too:
Kara no Shoujo
Muv-Luv trilogy
Demonbane

Looks like I'm gonna be bussyy.

Also, is Zegapain worth watching?

where do you guys download or watch your anime from? im really curious since ive gotten to anime recently and i wanted to watch old school anime from my childhood. all the sites i go to watch them are either bad quality (pixelated blocks) or unavailable to my country.

anyone know any good site(s) to watch/download anime from? the graphics doesn't need to be pixel perfect just good enough so that i know what's going on.

Arigatou gozaimasu.

just caught up to the latest chapter of Nozoki Ana and I fucking love it, the whole situation of both of the main characters is pretty outrageous and how their relationship forms is pretty tense, NSFW for sure though.

if you can look past the (well drawn) amounts of ecchi it's really really good.

eagerly awaiting more chapters.

Pluto turned out to be a great read. The ending felt like it was lacking something, but the build to the end is one hell of a ride. Anyone have any manga recommendations for me?

I enjoyed berserk, vinland saga, ubel blatt, vagabond, zetman, gantz, liar game and monster. Just anything that has some sort of substance qualifies.

The manga of Gantz is a lot better than the anime, Kei doesn't remain an asshole for the entire storyline, and shit gets explained eventually. I think the story is good but the main point of the series is really all the insane enemies that the characters have to fight, and the over the top violence and action.

Response to Anime Club 2011-08-05 01:25:10

I started reading Gantz along with a bunch of other manga yesterday, and only three volumes in and damn this looks so promising. Especially liking the weird enemies. With the onion people, the doll boy and the dog mystic, I can't wait to see how more surreal they can get. Also, on the anime front, started the second Hell Girl season, Toradora, and Shiki.

Awesome, still gotta watch gantz although i may go straight for the manga based on the some of the opinions here.

Anyway, just started Legend of the Strongest Man Kurosawa yesterday, enjoying it so far. I can't say the art style is really my thing but the plot's engaging enough and kurosawa's a wonderful character, interested to see where this goes.
Also working my way through Hajime No Ippo (currently at ep 17), really enjoying it. I don't normally go for shounen And-Everyone-Becomes-A-Better-Person type stuff but it's great. Some of the fight animation is absolutely jaw-dropping, and I'm excited to see just how far Ippo will get.

The manga is definitely superior, but the story has gone downhill in the latest arcs. It's still a fun and entertaining ride, though, so don't take it too seriously and you should be all right.

Besides, it has Muscle Rider so there's barely any reason not to read it instead of the mediocre anime.

glad to hear you're enjoying it, chances are if you still feel that way you'll pick up the manga afterwards and if you ever start 'new challenger' you're going to miss the original OST sooooo bad.

im serious whenever i tell somebody that the music in this series is one of the more overlooked qualities, it never fails to set the mood of the scenes with its quality production.

I actually really like where the story is going. It's slowed down a little bit in the most recent chapters but I still like how it's expanded itself out of being almost like a video game and more into a full fledged story.

So hey, you might like it or you might not, I still think the series as a whole is great.

Hey guys, just started fullmetal alchemist : brotherhood.
Had only just finished the original series.

which is best?
this one feels like the main story is being rushed. or is it just a sort of recap on the original?
on episode 6.

no

I thought the original series was a fucking masterpiece.

I watched the first five or so episodes of brotherhood, thought it was kind of shit and stopped. And based off what all my anime friends IRL have told me, the original is much better.

But brotherhood isn't bad, by any right. Oh, and it's not a recap. Brotherhood just follows the manga, which the original FMA didn't do.
