Well if you don't have anything to discuss why do you even come here.

So, Sacred Seven episode 2, generic monster of the week shounen so far complete with terrible engrish. It also seems we have another protagonist who has conveniently forgotten someone from his past who has become important in the future.

Oh boy, howdie doodie, sounds like a fantastic show!

And all from the year 2011, what an achievement!

So don't watch it. There are plenty of anime airing this season.

Speaking of Clint Eastwood, I rewatched the Good, the Bad and the Ugly earlier this week in GLORIOUS BLU-RAY and it's still an amazing film. TMWNN is fucking awesome as shit.

Any good western anime that's not Bebop/Trigun/entry-level shit? I've already got GunXSword on my backlog.

Yeah, Sacred Seven is pretty retarded, shouldn't even be disappointed, that implies you had standards for it.

Aside from the hyperbole, I agree with Kermits sentiments. I still wish this club would branch out a little more with the genres and taste. If anyone is interested but doesn't know where to start, I can probably point you in the right direction.

And there is where I come in.

So we should go ahead and disregard previous shows and films/ music simply because they were created and released at a previous time? That disregards the achievements and influences they created, and that is nothing short of a complete disservice. Without Ace wo Nerae! or Gundam there would be no Gunbuster. Without Gunbuster, there would be no Neon Genesis Evangelion. With none of those and even including Gao Gai Gar, there wouldn't even be TTGL.

This isn't particularly a mecha discussion, but you get my point(I hope, at least).

Anyway. I'm hoping to see a couple shorter shows here pretty soon. House of Five Leaves and Level E seem like nice choices, anybody seen those?

Watching Gravion. Other than the title robot looking awesome as well as the enemy designs, and eye-candy/fanservice, it's nothing special. If it doesn't start to pick up, I think I'll skip out on the sequel.

I watched another of Masami Obari's anime a short while ago -- Detonator Orgun -- and it was also fairly average.

Only two things I can come up with are Desert Punk and Gun Frontier, with the latter literally being about Captain Harlock in the wild west, though that didn't keep me from disliking it, but maybe you'll like it.

Yeah, I'm thinking I'm back.

I finished Princess Tutu because this is what my life has come to

To be honest though it was a lot better than I expected it to be, in the end it was still only 'pretty good'.

It starts extremely slow and doesn't actually become good until maybe the last 3 episodes.

The only thing that got me through it were the Mr.Cat gimmick bits which I honestly thought were pretty hilarious especially since it was the dub.

My biggest complaints are that it's really shallow, thin, the main character's voice in the dub is grating, and it's not as fluid as it should be considering it centers a lot of the action on ballet.

Still, by the end of it I felt like it was actually a pretty good time waster with a nice ending.

oh jesus christ i leave for a week and this?

i think both you guys have valid points regarding the timeless classics vs currently airing stuff. But jeez can't you argue this shit without resulting to ad hominems and shit?

I found it to be a nice show. It's a pleasant show to watch and it is moderately funny. It's basically a feel good show with some good laughs here and there and characters who aren't exactly excellent but none of them are particularly annoying. Eventually you start being invested in the story and you watch it through to the end. It never exceeds expectations but never falls short of them either.

Just an all around pleasant show.

I think Kamisama no Memochou is p cool and it had a double long first episode, so I think it's got a lot of work put into it.

Ikoku Meiro no Croisée is also going to be a personal favourite of mine, just a light hearted show about a young japanese girl in 19th century France.

Seconding this. I haven't watched anything else since I've got a bunch of other shit to watch.

Can't wait for fall's lineup + Carnival Phantasm, though.

Also, about to check out Gun Frontier. The reviews I found seemed mixed, so I guess I'll have to check it out myself.

Kamisama is on my list for series to start tomorrow; all in all, I'm looking forward to it.

Other Summer '11 shit:

R-15: Body totally not ready. Will definitely keep following. Dibs on Photography Girl as my future waifu.

Also, fuck censorship. Any idea where I can find a version without those pesky white blobs?

SS2: Grorious Engrish by US Army soldiers; other than that, nothing special. Will probably drop this after the 3rd or 4th ep. unless something catches my attention. And Hellbrick is getting annoying as hell.

NO. 6: Definitely interesting, but no idea what's happening. Can't wait to find out what "Rat's" crime was and what the Moondrop means.

Overall, Summer '11 is proving to be better than I expected.

Watched the first two episodes, and they were enjoyable despite one or two flaws (which might just be retarded nitpicking on my part). It seems like the enemies (as well as the guard in ep. 2) in both episodes were trained at the stormtrooper academy -- no, really, they miss every shot of their 15+ round revolver. FUCK THEY SHOULDN'T HAVE THAT MUCH AMMO IN THEIR GUN, but since the rule of cool has spoken, there's not much to be done about that.

It's got quite a bit of potential and the main cast is interesting. I'm digging the character design, too.

If you like the character designs, you owe it to yourself to watch some of Leiji Matsumoto's classics; Best ones would be Galaxy Express 999( I recommend the movie, only the tv show if you liked what you saw from the movie. The movie shows the story and concludes it nicely, where the tv show meanders a lot into episodic territory) and Captain Harlock(Original tv show, and the movie 'Arcadia of my Youth')

Frontier is a Harlock side story/ alternative thing.

The TV series is fucking long, but if I enjoy the film I'm sure I'll like it. I'll probably have to set up a good, steady pace to truly appreciate it rather than marathoning it all in one week, and forgetting about half of the damn show.

Captain Harlock(Original tv show, and the movie 'Arcadia of my Youth')

Yarr, yaarrrr, thanks for the advice.

Hey kitty kitty, the Catherine demo went live today.I have no idea what to think of this game....it's...strange. The first level has you running for your life in your underwear, collecting pillows for lives and cash for points, running away from a giant hand. The story is there a mysterious death going around, people just up and die in their sleep.
Your pondering weather you should get married or not, some stuff about parents, a level involves you getting chased up giant stairs by a giant baby, ugh...this is starting to feel like a suda 51 game. Just try it....US trailer, the demo is out for PS3 and Xbox360 now.

I'm just a dreamer.

Ehh, I'm not really interested in it. That, and I don't have a PS3 anymore nor does my 360 work.

I'm excited for Devil Survivor 2, on the other hand. I still need to finish the last section of the first game.

Monster was on Netflix so I started watching that to see what the big deal is. Is it really 74 episodes? because that's gonna take a while to get through and so far it's only okay.

Also started Eden of the East which is also pretty alright but not terribly exciting yet.
