Texhnolyze is very cool. It just has the ultimate downer ending. The soundtrack is also good. I have it on my zune.

Jesus fuck my internet is irritating. It's going to take a decade just to watch G Gundam (well, it's not like I have anything better to do). The dub was alright from what I saw of the first seven minutes.

Also, Infinite Stratos just had a beach episode today. Isn't that refreshing and original? Can't wait for the festival episode!!!

I have the first two DVDs, yeah it's fucking epic. I need to get the rest though. Wait, did ADV distribute that before they went under?

Not that hard when you have no social life offline and no one in my area is hiring right now. Went job hunting today and it was a total failure didn't get a single application and I spent like 5 hours. I got a few recommendations though that I will be checking out tomorrow.

Texhnolyze Spoilers Time. Don't read if you ever plan on watching this.

Finished up Texhnolyze. It had a fitting yet very depressing ending. Almost everyone got turned in to meat sacks. Onishi kills Ran then Onishi gets killed by the few people left alive for being part of Organo. Ichise gets pissed because the other people left alive killed Onishi so he kills all the other people left alive. So nothing ever changed Rans prophecy ended up coming true; Ichise killed everyone and in the end he was left all alone. In the end it shows Ichise as the last human left alive in the lower world watching a hologram then it fades to black while playing a sad song and running the credits. Really good anime but its really down to earth. You also kinda have to motivate yourself to watch the first few episodes or you'll drop it fast. It's extremely boring at first.

Also BBM you should request that they add spoiler tags to the forum for this club on the next update. This is one of the oldest and biggest clubs on NG's so its kinda pathetic that we don't have spoiler tags. Sry for double post.

Disregard that, found some good links. As I said, the dub isn't too bad, and the music/score was good (DAT RIFF DURING SOPHIA'S RESCUE).

Nope, I found some shitty .rvmbs that I got because they aren't large files. Don't really give a shit about quality, I'm still enjoying it.

I would suggest that you watch G Gundam in the sub version, partly because of the subtle political correctness that is in the dub. I don't know about you, but the political correctness in the dub kinda turned me off to the series a long time ago, but got over it recently.

Also, Infinite Stratos just had a beach episode today. Isn't that refreshing and original? Can't wait for the festival episode!!!

Huzzah!

Anyways, I started watching Genshiken last week, and in all honesty, I thought I was going to hate this show, but the series sort of grew on me, what with the rather lighthearted take on otaku and otaku culture in Japan. The english dub was decent, but nothing to write to home about, which I expected from a series that barely anyone has heard of outside of Japan.

They were all released, but the DVDs are discontinued and are a bit overpriced. I think you can get it for a better price on rightstuf.com. It's a "hybrid" dvd, though, whatever that is. I plan on just downloading it though, if I can.

Watched a few more episodes of G Gundam and they were alright.

Chibodee, Saici and George all had great introduction episodes. George/Rose was definitely my favorite episode so far.

You said that in your last couple of posts, go into more detail.

The fights were fun to watch; however, I think they went way too fast. Chibodee/Maxter's fight seemed to the quickest to me -- Domon and him parried for two or three seconds, then HERE I GO--- SHINING FINGER. Though I guess the matches are so quick to show how different in skill the characters are/how much PLOT ARMOR Domon has.

The whole DUB vs SUB argument is tired as hell, and it wouldn't even make a huge difference in the end anyhow considering how G-Gundam plays out anyway. Could you look at G-Gundam, glance through a bunch of episodes and tell me it's attempting to come of with the same impression as the UC timeline based series?

I never really said that G-Gundam was based off the UC timeline. Although I can agree with you that the Dub vs. Sub arguments in any anime is tired as hell.

When you give the series the chance it severely deserves,

Timeout here, I have watched this series before, when I was a kid, which of course the English dub was cheesy and stuff like that, but I never really cared for that at the time. Now that I have decided to rewatch the series about a year ago or so, I realized that on how much different the original audio is compared to the dub, other than the obvious lanaguage difference.

even if you're relatively unacquainted with the gundam franchise, you might as well enjoy the fact that it is so crazy and surreal. It probably shouldn't be the first series to start off with to become introduced with the franchise, but it's a fantastic entry.

I'm agreeing with you on that premise 100%. In all honesty, I view most of the Gundam franchise as basically "Star Wars", but with mechs and the politics that take place on Earth instead of a far away galaxy. Of course, that doesn't mean that there are some shows within the franchise that stood out and I have enjoyed over the years, but more or less, It's almost like "Star Wars", with the obvious exception of G-Gundam.

It's one big fantasy and I didn't think the intention was for it to be completely correct or serious. In contrast to some of the other entries series that were shitty because they were trying to be so poignant and serious, atleast G-Gundam was unique as a MSG spinoff at how it gave us another way to use the gundam mythology effectively.

Once again, I agree. Much of the Gundam series tend to be ultra-serious political riff-raff that is often followed by the occasional battle in space or on the ground. That's not to say that is all a bad thing per se, but it does get rather tiring to the point where I simply don't care anymore what they say or do.

My god, even Noble Gundam was modeled after Sailor (V)enus. That, plus all of the other ridiculous gundam suits, should have been enough of a clue to indicate it's a series meant for utter fun.

Perhaps I have looked at it the wrong way, considering I have generally viewed the Gundam franchise as a bunch of serious storylines about war, politics, and so on.

Just stop worrying, and love the bomb.

Yeah, the first 13 episodes were more or less like that actually. It does improve however, you'll notice that Domon's PLOT armor won't be brought into as much question everytime, still often, but not always.

The battles aren't complete useless, though. They do add to Domon's characters somewhat, like him not finishing G-Rose off with SF because George was holding the tower to save Maria and Rain.

When most of the central characters are established, it will be more to your liking I'd imagine, and good points btw.

'Kay.

Watched Kurozuka it wasn't bad. The animation in it was above average not amazing though. Big things I disliked about it though is the ending was lazy and the characters never really got developed much. Lots of action and blood and what not through out the whole series but you don't learn much about the main characters. IDK I guess thats kinda understandable though since it was only 12 episodes.

Well stop watching stiff shit, and watch something that's nothing short of a visual treat. This is why today I recommend you a special little title - it's like a 23 minute OVA. And the golden title that I'd like to bring up now, is called "Mars of Destruction". Simply beautiful, this is by far one of the greatest titles I've ever seen.

I mean fuck Gundam, or Rose of Versailles. MoD blows both out of the water with style and grace.

Wow, that's a lot of anime if I do say so myself, Personally, some of them look pretty interesting, including Season 2 of Kaiji and Gintama, others I might want to wait to see if they are any good or not.

Just finished off Kurenai. Overall it was a good series.

It dipped in quality when dealing with the more comedic elements of the show, but the dramatic parts were quite involving. The fight scenes in particular, especially those towards the end of the series, were very well done.

The ending was alright, but it felt a little rushed I think. Too many plot threads were not fully developed to the extent I would have liked them. And a few of the characters themselves I felt were not used to their full potential. Characters like Tamaki got too much screen time, while some of the more dramatically interesting characters got too little.

Minor spoilers:
Also, I've never seen a show that took a more relaxed approach to the idea of incest and inbreeding. There were a lot of opinions voiced about Murasaki's situation, but they sounded as if they were just complaining about the idea of Murasaki having her partner chosen for her. I'd have thought people would have a little more of a problem with the incestual part of her arrangement.
End spoilers.

I'd like to see a second season of the show, though I'm not sure myself of how that would work. I just feel that there are characters in the show that I'd like to learn more about. The series left it open enough for that, but I haven't seen any information that would indicate that a second season was planned. Kinda disappointing, but whatever.

At 3/6/11 07:01 PM, SomaGuye wrote: After checking the updated spring chart there are now 16 anime on my watch list and 9 on my maybe list. Truly it is going to be a why can't I hold all this anime season.

Ones I'll probably watch:

Kaiji season 2. Though I'll probably wait until it's finished, since I don't think I could stand having to wait a week between episodes. TENSION.

Ones I'm kinda interested in based solely on their pictures and short descrptions:

Appleseed XIII
Deadman Wonderland (sounds like Running Man)
Steins;Gate
Showa Story
X-Men

But I'll wait and see what other people think first of all, if I hear anything more about them (I don't really follow the 'anime news').

Also, Jesus Christ that is a lot of cutesy anime girls in that collection of pictures.

I'll watch c probably. I'm interested in watching x-men but heard not-so-great things about iron man and wolverine so may give it a miss. stein's gate maybe, will have to wait for the first ep reviews to pop out I think.

The rest all look boring. ten year old succubus seeking semen? sexual perversion seminars? power of breast milk fighting off bad guys? school life filled with fancies and ecchi accidents? Good grief, I can see why you have so many to watch this season all of a sudden soma.
