Those OVAs are based on part 3/Stardust Crusaders, right? Just checked it out and it cuts quite a bit from the manga. Like the arc with Kakyoin/Jotaro's fight against D'Arby's brother, and 'The Lovers' stand.

I'd totally love an animated version of Part 4, but I doubt it'll ever happen.

I haven't watched JJBA in quite a while. I wanna see if I can get my hands on that. pretty cool show.

At 2/25/11 12:46 AM, UCanCallMeJesus wrote: Watched like the first 40 mins of it then turned it off. It's like a more serious version of robot chicken. Just a bunch of short clips. The animation in some of them was beautifully done but I kinda prefer a story line to just random chunks of a story with lots of eye candy. Thanks for the recommendation though.

Yeah, it's a collection of short films. There are lots of good ones there. There's a lot of good anime shorts in different collections. Neo Toyko and Memories had some good ones, too. And Sweat Punch had one really good one called Junk Town. The rest of them were pretty meh, though. Actually End of the Word was pretty cool, too. I watch a lot of shorts. I still have Digital Juice to watch.

But Aachi wa Ssipak is worth a watch. It's a Korean animated movie. It's really funny and full of ridiculous action. Unless you don't appreciate more low brow humor, I recommend it. It's very childish, but in a good way.

What's the matter, champ? Wanna talk about it?

I think Barefoot Gen would cheer you right up! Kamichu is also good for that. Kaleido Star is very positive, uplifting.

Has anyone here seen Summer Wars yet? If so, what did you think of it?

I've been trying to find a Bluray copy of it, but nowhere has it in stock. I was hoping I could just rent it, but it looks like I'm going to have to order it online.

I have. I saw it at a film festival last year.

And it was one of the top five films I saw that year. Amazing. Funny. involving. Ideas. Great.

Understandable. I don't really know much about Mahjong either but I've always been a fan of board games growing up and to this day as well. I don't know if it's dependant on the person or not but from watching both Tetsuya and Akagi I've gotten a gist of what some hands are comprised of and the structures around a reach and all that.

I agree with you there. While I do like how bad ass Akagi is it just lacks the 'human element' that Kaiji brings. The fact that you see Kaijis' emotions on such a wide scale and his wins AND loses make it that much more enjoyable for me.

I know, I know I've let you down
I've been a fool to myself
I thought that I could
live for no one else
But now through all the hurt & pain

It's time for me to respect
the ones you love
mean more than anything

So with sadness in my heart
(I) feel the best thing I could do
is end it all
and leave forever

what's done is done it feels so bad
what once was happy now is sad
I'll never love again
my world is ending

I wish that I could turn back time
cos now the guilt is all mine
can't live without
the trust from those you love
I know we can't forget the past
you can't forget love & pride
because of that, it's killin' me inside

It all returns to nothing, it all comes
tumbling down, tumbling down,
tumbling down
It all returns to nothing, I just keep
letting me down, letting me down,
letting me down

In my heart of hearts
I know that I called never love again
I've lost everything
everything
everything that matters to me, matters
in this world

I wish that I could turn back time
cos now the guilt is all mine
can't live without
the trust from those you love
I know we can't forget the past
you can't forget love & pride
because of that, it's kill'in me inside

It all returns to nothing, it just keeps
tumbling down, tumbling down,
tumbling down

Oh, definitely that harem show, and the moe thing with four girls. I hope they turn out to be wonderfully refreshing and entertaining.

My plan to watch list is:

Steins;Gate
Ao no Exorcist
The Money of Soul and Possibility Control
Deadman Wonderland
The World God Only Knows S2
Hidan no Aria
Lotte no Omacha!

My maybe list is:

Dog Days
30-sai no Hokken Taiiku
Denpa Onna to Seishun Otoko
Sket Dance
Toriko
Hyouge Mono
Hen Zemi

Also after reading this description on /a/ I decided I would love to watch a Shounen cooking show.

"This is a shounen cooking series. A very famous chef dies when the boat he's riding in sinks. His collection of [insert 3-digit number here] recipes, which are considered national and cultural treasures, are lost with him.

It's up to his son to recreate them all and restore glory to his family, which fell on hard times after his father died. However, he has to compete with his father's students and old rivals in accomplishing this task."

A lot of boring looking stuff on that list, I'll wait for ANN's previews before I commit to anything.

Except this, coming out in may according to that, god damn it looks good. Really dug 5cmps anyway even if it was hipster shit so I await my inevitable dressing down for it but yeah excited for this new thing. Also you said redline was coming out like a week ago but i cant find any evidence of that anywehre src?

Yep, that's pretty much it.

Also, SRWJ has inspired me to watch G Gundam, among other series included in the game. I remember watching a few episodes when it was airing on Cartoon Network, but I can't recall any specific details about the show.

G-Gundam is one of the best Super-robot titles ever made. You owe it to yourself to watch that shit on the double. And aside from some of the robots' goofy designs and stereotypes, it really is a fun, engaging show. With an excellent soundtrack, and a satisfying conclusion to boot.

Tiger & Bunny, X-Men, [C], Showa Monogatari, Deadman Wonderland, Appleseed XIII, and Gintama as soon as I catch up to it. Maybe a pinch of 30-sai and Maria+Holic for shits and giggles. I think the last time I followed something as it aired was the latter half of Code Geass R2 or Gundam 00 S2.

Yeah, I'm thinking I'm back.

Heh, good to know.

Might as well post the Spring anime I'm interested in, too:
Steins;Gate
Gundam Unicorn #3
Kaiji S2
[C]
Deadman Wonderland
Hidan no Aria

Although it haven't been specifically planned for Spring release, the Fate/zero anime should air sometime this year and I'm definitely watching that.

Well, I don't know if you guys do torrents or what in order to watch anime as soon as it comes out, but I might watch any of the following if they eventually come out in America or I find a megaupload/mediafire/etc. link.

Appleseed XIII
Deadman Wonderland
[C] the Money of Soul and Possibility Control
X Men
Black Lagoon: Roberta's Blood Trail
Ao no Exorcist
Onigamiden

I finished Kaleido Star. imo was kinda average. Story line was interesting and animation wasn't bad but there was nothing that really caught my mind and made it good though. On top of that if you try watching any of the dubbed versions use ear buds or something. Voices are extremely annoying in the dubs and they made Sora sound like shes 5 when the her character was pretty clearly in her late teens or early 20's. Ran I little longer then I like but wasn't too many episodes to handle.

Saw Ponyo the other day and even though people say it's more for kids, I thought it appealed to myself quite well. I loved it, except Ponyo and Sosuke's voice actors in English. They were annoying.

I thought it was funny when I heard Betty White's voice playing one of the old ladies.

I found it anything but average. Story is nothing to write home about, but KS's plot is a simple one that thrives on sincerity. I loved how Sora just kept getting back up, even after the way she was first treated, and how Layla originally perceived her.

It was upbeat, and quite moving.

The animation looked like it was quickly done. No real effort in it. Reminds me of the animation in Naruto. I also found it extremely predictable. To the point where you can watch one episode then predict what will happen in the next three and be pretty close. It was cute and made me laugh quietly in some places but I don't think that made it anything special.
Also, i'm checking out Texhnolyze right now. It is a interesting anime. A little hard to watch through the first few episodes because there is not much content but it starts getting really good like 10 episodes in. I'm on like 19 right now and I will probably finish up tomorrow.

In shows like these, it's all about the journey, not the destination. You damn kids and your "GIVE ME CONVOLUTED 'PLOT TWIST' OVER CLOSURE"

Also, i'm checking out Texhnolyze right now.

That one looks alright. I'm watching City Hunter right now, and right next to maybe Master Keaton. it's one of the best episodic animes I've seen. Just loads of humor, loads of retro style and loads of fun. I cannot believe it's taken me this long to see it, should have watched it years back.
