You might want to check out Gungrave. Yasuhiro Nightow, the same man who made Trigun, made the story and characters for Gungrave. It's a good series.

FUNimation has a youtube channel where you can watch anime as well. They do some dubs as well, FMA: Brotherhood being one of them.

Yeah. From what I saw of it on SciFi it seemed like a psychological horror. Didn't catch much of it due my job but it looks mediocre.

But when I got back on, I was hooked right back in and reminded why I liked this anime in the first place. It feels so different to whatever else I've seen in a while, it's funny, it has some smarts to it, the music perfectly complimented the South American setting(I'm even willing to hunt down the ost for it). The show has this great way of showing people and their personalities. There's really no sense of good guys or bad guys, the characters who are considered antagonist are certainly cruel and not remorseful, but Michiko is not exactly a shining hero either.

As for the ending, I couldn't have asked for a better one. Tied things up nicely. It was just a real fresh show, damn shame it was under pretty much everyones radar when it came out.

If you need something new to check out, I suggest starting here(Like I have a few times previously)

So, I checked out michiko to hatchin. Overall, it was a pretty a good series, but I have a couple problems with the ending. First off, bitch had a baby. Wtf, she's like 10. Also, I was expecting the dad to have some sort of heart at the end of all that, but the asshole just bounces again. I really hated her dad since the tomato arc, when you find out about that other chick. What a dick. Imo, the best part of the series was the villain, I guess, Satoshi. That guy was fucking badass. I knew he was going to die, but I was rooting him on to die a sweet glorified death.

Episode 21 was absolutely amazing and was definitely my favorite part of the series. I kind of wish that satoshi and the bitch's dad, who's name escapes me, met sometime. I think his name was hiroshi or some shit. I would have loved if all of the main characters just kind of coincidentally bumped into each other, including the crazy motherfucker who was drowned in the bucket of water. All in all though, I thoroughly enjoyed it from start to finish. I just like to pick at things. It's definitely worth the watch.

I've only seen the first episode so far, but it seems to have retained some of the humour from the original. Which I always thought was unnecessary. It really is beautiful though.

So I watched something called Super Gals today (for the weekly anime riffs). My god it was awful. I can't really explain it without telling you guys to just Google it. But, yeah. The only way you can understand this is see for yourself. Somehow it happens to be a Slice of Life comedy with a moral message. It only serves to piss me off.

Anyway, Bebop is cool. Yoko Kanno is now my God.

It's Wonko-the-Sane, and I believe you mean "piqued."
For those who cannot hold a coherent thought in their heads, or are too lazy to read, the anime in question is Darker Than Black, and it's sequel, Ryuusei no Gemini.

Is anyone else here playing Tatsunoko vs. Capcom? Out of all the Tatsunoko characters, I was only able to recognise the Gatchaman characters. So, are they all obscure, or do I just not know a lot about anime?

I just looked up the list Tatsunoko characters that are in the game, and I recognize some of the shows these characters are from(Casshern, Tekkaman Blade, Yatterman, Karas etc). I'd consider them fairly obscure. All those shows aren't very popular, especially not to the Western world.

It's no surprise you had no idea who most of these people were. Also, sadly I haven't since I don't own a wii, I never was a big fan of the system. But it now looks to have a good selection of games, so I might pick one up one of these days.

Seth Killian said in an interview that Tatsunoko vs Capcom was never intended to be released outside of Japan at first, but popular demand made Capcom rethink that decision.

I think they had a few hit shows in the U.S. though. Weren't they the same people who made Speed Racer and Samurai Pizza Cats? Nobody from either of those shows show up in Tatsunoko vs. Capacom though. You would think that it would have been a good idea to add them to the U.S. version for more appeal, like they did when they added Frank West.

Hellsing is good. I'm curious as to why you dropped Bleach. Answer?

I, could give you that answer. Anyone can give you that answer. There are different reason but let me give you the most basic of answers:

1. It's gone on TOO long.

Seriously, Bleach has how many episodes? Going somewhere in the 200-300 episode ratio with no end in sight. Now granted, there are anime that have gone well over 300 episodes, One Piece is one that sticks out. But this leads into the next point

2. Lost interest to continue such nonsense and move on to something less stupid.

The fundamental difference between One Piece and Bleach is that One Piece actually has incentive to watch. The Characters aren't annoying and the plot is well written and even with the fillers the plot actually goes somewhere. Many would probably contest this, but this is more personal opinion that actual fact. But arcs that go on forever generally decay the personal investment in the anime. I mean, was it like one arc that revolves around rescuing Rukia before she gets fucking executed? If you have emotional investment with the characters and with Rukia you might wanna sit through this. If you're rational and y'know enjoy GOOD story telling you want Rukia and Ichigo and the entire Soul Society to fucking die a miserable death and promptly walk off after 2 or 3 episodes if you can make it through that. Which leads to point number 3

3. Realization that it's going nowhere and reflection that the entire story is flawed.

Okay, i talked about "investment" and "incentive" but there was really none to begin with when talking about Bleach. It's a show about breaking the absolute laws of physics (which in fairness, this anime atleast has an excuse for, what with dealing with the supernatural) and teenagers with small-dick syndrome compensating for their inadequacy with a big fucking sword and murdering demons. And there's the whole "message" of team work, friendship, the heart of the cards, etc. It's been done to death. There's no reason to watch this. There is no complex storytelling revolving around these characters. There is nothing to relate to. Pretty much this is a show for violence and cleavage. And I mean alot of cleavage. Which is fine, but 200 episodes is a bit too much. Granted, Dragonball Z did this, and did this alot. But, it was atleast self aware of its cheesiness. Maybe Bleach is too, but I don't see it. It's dull, uninspired and this horse has been beating dead long before.

Response to Anime Club 2010-01-31 20:30:12

That was sort of the reason I was thinking, but a little smaller. No offense.

I would recomend Slayers Revolution, great action comedy,

then there are those comedy romance ones where multiple girls go after one guy those are common but some are good, let's see there are, Magikano, Rosario Vampire, Maburaho, Happy Lesson, and Shuffle.

For a short one just watch Fooly Cooly.
